In this world, commoners can only live in villages, too afraid to wander far due to the monsters and beasts lurking in the wilderness. Creatures like the Stench Mud Monster are manageable, but some are truly deadly. After gathering his belongings, Li continued on his journey. 0

The road to Wutan City was rough, but it wasn't filled with obstacles everywhere. After all, John and his group were not particularly strong, so monsters wouldn't seek them out recklessly. Over the next few days, life passed relatively peacefully without any unusual occurrences. 0

This situation was quite reasonable; if every outing resulted in encounters with various terrifying monsters, this place could hardly be called a human kingdom—it would be more fitting to rename it the Monster World. 0

"Everyone, pick up the pace! There's a cave not far ahead; let’s hurry and rest there. We’ll have the cook prepare some hot soup to replenish our strength. If we can hold out for just one more day, we’ll reach Wutan City!" With John's loud call, the entire caravan quickened its pace. 0

However, misfortune struck as a sudden storm swept in, changing as quickly as a child's mood, pouring down in torrents in the blink of an eye. John shouted and directed the caravan to dash toward the nearby cave. The immediate priority was to get the horses inside and settled; after all, these horses were vital companions and means of transport. If they got sick from the rain, it would be a significant problem. 0

As for the people? Well, they had tents, didn’t they? Besides, even if they got a little wet, what harm could it do? Look at that noble Lord John; wasn’t he crammed in the cave with the horses as well? 0

Before long, a roaring campfire blazed within the cave, warming up the previously cold and damp air. John sat comfortably on an enormous Bear Skin rug, covered with an additional soft and thick blanket. 0

Speaking of this Bear Skin's origin, one must give thanks to the cave's former inhabitants—one large bear and three cubs. They generously offered their pelts and provided over a thousand pounds of delicious bear meat. One must admit they were a truly hospitable family! 0

If only there were some honey for that bear paw. 0

As he brushed off oil and flipped over meat on the fire, John couldn't help but marvel at how such delicacies were something a commoner like him could enjoy in this life. It was indeed better to have crossed over and become someone of significance while also achieving Transcendence. 0

The cook brought over three dishes and a soup, placing them slowly on the small table before John. "Sir, the soup is ready; however, we’re short on bread. It seems only the soldiers will have some for breakfast tomorrow." 0

John shrugged it off and took a sip of the soup. "You’ve added too much salt; next time use less. And add more chili; sweating is good for you." 0

"Yes, understood," the cook nodded repeatedly. 0

After savoring his soup, John turned to serious matters. "Tomorrow don’t give any bread to those Serfs; just make some soup. Once we reach Wutan City, there will be plenty of everything. Let’s keep everyone’s spirits up; we can’t afford any mishaps just before arriving." 0

Ignoring how Kuiradi arranged things, John continued sipping his soup and eating his meal. As for why there were Serfs in their group—it wasn’t because John had bought them; it was purely by chance. With the orcs gone, these commoners had been forced into hiding in the mountains until they could return home. 0

On the way, John encountered quite a few Serfs. If he were in someone else's territory, he wouldn't have acted, but these were all unclaimed, like gold falling from the sky. 0

So why wait? He decided to recruit them all. Without even searching specifically, he ended up with over forty new followers, which made John reconsider his plans to buy more Serfs. Instead, he thought about venturing into the wilderness to find some cattle and horses scattered across the land. 0

However, after a moment's reflection, he decided against it. It wasn't worth risking his life over a few Serfs; who knew where monsters might lurk? It would be foolish to capsize in a ditch over such a trivial matter. 0
