Dusk had arrived.
Xi Liu swayed gently in the evening breeze, while Jin Lin leaped out of the water under the desolate remnants of daylight. In this wasteland, Man City stood tall, the only place brimming with life in the Desert.
After a day and night of flying, Ye Xingchen and his companions finally reached the foot of Man City. At the city gate, two fierce-looking guards frowned as they scanned their surroundings.
Ye Tian was about to step forward to inquire, but Ye Xingchen stopped him, signaling for him to observe quietly.
Not far away, a caravan approached with the sound of jingling bells. After a while, a portly merchant dismounted from his horse, swaying slightly as he approached the guards with flattery. "I have traveled thousands of miles to conduct business. Might I trouble you to open the city gates so I can discuss matters with the city lord?"
The guards glanced at the merchant impatiently. "Where's your hand order?"
The merchant scratched his head, looking embarrassed.
"The city lord has decreed that without a hand order, no one may enter," one guard replied coldly.
The merchant chuckled and said, "You say that as if I've been on the road for so long without knowing this." He waved his hand for his servant to bring over a bag of high-grade spirit stones. "I understand these rules."
With a beaming smile, he handed the spirit stones to the guard. Seeing this, the guard's expression brightened as he hurriedly opened the city gates to let the merchant in.
Lin Xingchen observed this and turned to Lu Qingyun and Huang Feixiu, asking, "Do you have any spirit stones?"
The two exchanged glances and then looked toward Wang Teng.
Wang Teng simply shook his head. "I heard about it in a hurry yesterday; I only have thirty spirit stones on me."
An awkward silence fell over them. Just then, a clear Mechanical Voice echoed in Lin Xingchen's mind, cheerfully announcing, "I forgot to remind you, Master; you have crossed into the Zhun Emperor Realm and have activated the Marketplace System."
As for the expenses incurred in purchasing items, the System shifted its tone and continued, "This is naturally the result of completing tasks to earn Fate Points."
"Current Fate Points:"
"Do you need to spend to purchase a Barbarian City Token?"
Lin Xingchen shot a frustrated glance at the System, feeling as if his salary had been unfairly docked. "Why do I only have one thousand Fate Points?" he asked, staring at the panel in confusion.

In an instant, a shimmering Barbarian City Token appeared in Lin Xingchen's hand.

"It's just a gift from an old friend," Lin Xingchen waved his hand dismissively.
Seeing the token in Lin Xingchen's possession, the City Gate Guards no longer dared to say anything further and hurriedly let him pass.
