At the majestic city gates of the Xia Kingdom's imperial capital, a procession was slowly approaching.
Leading the group was a man dressed in luxurious attire, exuding an extraordinary presence. He gazed up at the towering city walls, a flicker of astonishment crossing his eyes. The guards at the city gate stood with imposing authority, each one having reached the Celestial Realm. This sight sent a jolt of surprise through him.
He had not anticipated that the Xia Kingdom, established only a few years ago, could be so powerful that even the City Gate Guards were at the Celestial Realm. The leader murmured to himself, a hint of indescribable worry in his tone.
Inside a lavishly adorned carriage, a woman in an elegant long dress tightly clutched what appeared to be an ordinary wooden sword. Her features were exquisitely beautiful, yet her brow was furrowed with concern. This woman was Zhao Yue'er, the Grand Princess sent by Zhao Country to seek aid.
Zhao Yue'er looked at the wooden sword in her hand, her thoughts swirling. This sword had been gifted to her by a young man who had boldly declared that if she ever faced trouble in the future, she could come to find him using this sword at the Ye Family Ancestor's place. Now that Zhao Country was facing a crisis, she had no choice but to come herself.
She was uncertain whether she would be able to secure reinforcements from the Xia Kingdom and couldn't help but feel anxious. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, attempting to calm the turmoil within her.
Just as she was lost in thought, the curtain of the carriage was gently lifted, and a maid's voice came through: "Princess, we have entered Xia Kingdom's capital."
At these words, Zhao Yue'er slowly opened her eyes, determination flashing within them. She nodded slightly in response and then gracefully stepped out of the carriage to face everyone.
The leader of the Grand Princess's entourage quickly led everyone in greeting. Zhao Yue'er acknowledged them with a slight nod and spoke firmly: "Let us proceed to the palace; we must not keep Xia Wang waiting."
With that, she turned and led the group toward the Xia Kingdom Palace.
Meanwhile, within the Xia Kingdom Palace, Xia Wang Ye Hui sat upright alongside Prime Minister Ye Nantian and others, their expressions grave as they deliberated whether to send troops to assist Zhao Country. The news of Zhao Yanhan's battle had spread like wildfire among neighboring nations.
As soon as Zhao Yue'er stepped into Xia Kingdom's territory, this news quietly reached Ye Hui's ears. His gaze deepened; it was evident that Zhao Yue'er had come seeking assistance from Xia Kingdom. However, as a ruler, Ye Hui understood well that a single command from him could alter the balance among several powers.
The Xia Kingdom, though powerful now, must not let its guard down in this ever-changing continent.
The King, Ye Nantian, spoke with a grave expression, suggesting that they wait for Zhao Yue'er to arrive and hear her thoughts before making any decisions.
Ye Hui nodded slightly at his words, his gaze revealing deep contemplation. "That sounds reasonable. Let’s listen to the envoy from Zhao before we decide."
Just as the two were discussing, a messenger guard's voice suddenly rang out from outside the hall: "Your Majesty, the envoy from Zhao seeks an audience."
Upon hearing this, Ye Hui's expression sharpened, and he commanded sternly, "Let her in."
The guard complied and soon after, a woman dressed in an elegant long gown gracefully entered the hall.
Her steps were light and her demeanor dignified; this was indeed Zhao Yue'er.
"Envoy Zhao pays her respects to Your Majesty," Zhao Yue'er said, her voice clear and pleasant yet maintaining an air of solemnity.
Ye Hui sat upright on his throne, his gaze piercing as he scrutinized the envoy from Zhao.
After a moment, he spoke slowly, "There is no need for excessive formalities. You have traveled a long way; I am sure you have important matters to discuss. Please take a seat."
Zhao Yue'er slightly inclined her body in acknowledgment and then took her place at one side of the hall.
