The driver tightened his grip on the steering wheel, thinking that he needed to notify the hotel soon to see if they could contact the families of the four individuals and persuade them before it was too late. When they reached the center of the bridge, Yan Kongyue leaned over the railing to look down. Just as she suspected, the mist had already connected with the bridge surface.
“Why isn’t the water moving?” she asked.
“The water ghost is about to cause trouble!” someone replied.
“What should we do now? Should we jump down?” Lin Qian asked.
Huo Jingyu slapped his forehead. “Jump? You’d just get swept away like a drowned rat!”
“Let’s go around to the bottom of the bridge!” Yan Kongyue pointed towards the embankments on either side of the river.
“That side looks pretty good,” Feng Xing added as he leaned over the railing.
Below them was Cuihe Park, built along both banks of Cui He River, stretching for kilometers. When it was first completed, many people came here to run and ride bikes, but in recent years, no one visited anymore.
While they were looking down at the river, an armed police vehicle pulled up behind them. Several lightly equipped officers jumped out one after another.
A few armed police quickly approached them and mimicked their actions by looking down at the river.
The sudden presence of more people didn’t surprise Yan Kongyue and her friends.
“What are you looking at?” one officer asked as he noticed their normal demeanor and didn’t sense any intent to jump from them.
“We want to go down and take a look!” Huo Jingyu blurted out. An officer beside him grabbed his shoulder: “Brother, there’s nothing worth seeing down there!”
“Huh?” Huo Jingyu sensed that they meant no harm and didn’t resist when someone held onto his shoulder.
By the way, how do we get to that park? Feng Xing asked with a faint smile on his handsome face.
“You want to go to the park?”
The park was empty, so you can just take a look from the bridge!
Yan Kongyue realized they had misunderstood. She glanced at Lin Qian, who took out her identification and handed it to the armed police officer beside her. "We are from the National Security Bureau Seventh Division!"
"The Seventh Bureau?" The Armed Police Brother took the identification and examined it closely before letting out a sigh of relief.
