The screen was a large, intricately carved wooden piece, indeed heavy, but the two young men managed to lift it out, their faces flushed with effort.
"Lin Qian, Yan Kongyue didn't say we had to guard the screen, did he?"
"No, just a word of caution—don't let anyone touch it!"
"Oh!"
After finding an auntie, Huo Jingyu gave her some instructions before they left.
"How is it?"
Yan Kongyue withdrew his hand from checking Huo Family Elder's pulse and shook his head.
Huo Jin nearly cried out, but in the next moment, Yan Kongyue's fingertips released a glimmer of golden light that enveloped Huo Family Elder, quickly dissipating within his body.
Kei Butler had never witnessed such a scene; he had initially wanted to ask if there was any hope for recovery, but the sight left him choking on his words, unable to catch his breath.
When Lin Qian and Huo Jingyu entered, they happened to see this moment unfold. Just before, Huo Jin had been about to ask if there was any chance of salvation when Yan Kongyue shook his head. She thought her father was beyond help, but when the golden light appeared, she felt reassured.
He should wake up soon!
"Oh, that would be wonderful!" Kei Butler quickly brought over the prepared fruits and called for someone.
After just two grapes, Huo Family Elder woke up. Yan Kongyue wiped his hands and checked the old man's pulse again.
"Much better!"
"Dad, do you still recognize me?"
"Of course! I'm my own blood; how could I not recognize you?"
"Hahaha! Yes, much better indeed! Grandpa even has more energy to scold now!" Huo Jingyu chimed in as he moved closer.
"Young brat, where have you been these past few days?" Huo Jingyu was the favorite grandchild of Old Master Huo.
"Grandpa, I stayed with the Lin family for a few days."
"Well, it's good that you're back! The old man has been so biased lately; he called everyone back these past two days except for the youngest."
"Grandpa, where's Grandma?"
"She went with your second uncle to find a master; wasn't that Taoist from Qing Xu Guan injured?"
"Grandpa, a master has come to see you!"

Old Master Huo looked at the little girl in front of him with confusion, somewhat unable to believe it.

"The screen?"
"Yes, the one in the west wing!"
Old Master Huo thought for a moment. "Oh? The screen has arrived!"
"Yes, I've seen it; it's quite beautiful!" Just as Huo Jingyu finished speaking, Lin Qian nudged him with her elbow.
"Grandpa Huo, was that screen a gift from someone or did you buy it yourself?"
