Yan Kongyue remained silent, simply raising her hand in front of Lin Qian, gesturing for him to look for himself—wasn’t the person right there?
"Lin Sheng, there's a saying that goes, 'there's always a mountain beyond the mountain.' I wonder if you've heard it?" Yan Kongyue deliberately provoked him, even dropping the title of "Sixth Brother."
Lin Lang nearly burst out laughing.
Yan Kongyue's meaning was clear: she was implying that Lin Sheng had never seen the world.
Lin Sheng's face flushed red. "You're just being clever with your words!"
"Just because you can't do it doesn't mean others can't," Yan Kongyue emphasized, deliberately stressing those last two words.
"I can do it; you absolutely cannot!" Yan Kongyue tilted her head, a faint smile playing on her lips. To others, she seemed a bit mischievous, but to Lin Sheng, her words were sharp.
"How can you say such bold things? Tell me how you plan to do it."
"Why should I tell you?"
"You—"
"What about me? If you want to know, it's not impossible. You can kneel and take me as your master, and then I'll share my unique medical skills with you. How does that sound?" Yan Kongyue leaned forward, looking at Lin Sheng with a teasing smile.
Lin Lang suddenly felt that the atmosphere was a bit off, but he was also curious about just how far Yan Kongyue could push her brother.
"I am a disciple of Jiang Laoshengyi."
"Tsk tsk tsk, a divine doctor? Can he cure Lin Qian in just a few days?" Before Lin Sheng could finish his sentence, Yan Kongyue interrupted him.
"This—"
"From your expression, I can already tell the answer. You only have one chance; kneel down now and take me as your master, and I will teach you everything I know." After saying this, Yan Kongyue shifted slightly to the side.
Lin Sheng spat out a mouthful of blood that landed right where Yan Kongyue had been standing moments before.
"Sheng'er!"
"Don't panic!" Yan Kongyue quickly stepped forward to support the swaying Lin Sheng.
Lin Sheng was about the same height as Lin Lang; both were roughly equal in stature. After spitting blood, he began to fall backward. Yan Kongyue caught him effortlessly and gently laid him down on the ground.
"Son!" Shen Yun was on the verge of tears.
Unbeknownst to her when she had stepped forward, Yan Kongyue had acquired a vial of medicine just as Lin Lang reached her side.
"Fourth Brother, hurry, take out a pill!" Yan Kongyue said, while still holding Lin Sheng in her other arm.
"Alright, alright!" Lin Lang quickly retrieved a light green pill and pried open Lin Sheng's mouth to feed it to him.
"What happened to him?"
"He's been poisoned!"
"Poisoned?"
"Yue Yue, can you save him?" Shen Yun asked, not doubting Yan Kongyue's ability to help Lin Sheng, but rather worried about whether she could detoxify him.
"Aunt San, don't worry. The pill I just gave him is an antidote; this level of poison isn't a big deal."
"Oh, that's good! That's good!"
"Fourth Brother, help me move Sixth Brother to the sofa. I need to administer acupuncture; he's been poisoned for too long, and his meridians are damaged."
"Okay!"
"Yue Yue, is there anything I can do?" Shen Yun had calmed down now.
"I need medical alcohol for disinfection, hot water, and gauze!"
"Got it! I'll get someone to fetch those!"
In the midst of the chaos, the commotion startled the old man, and just then Lin Lie returned home. However, they didn't ask any questions; they simply stood quietly by, watching as Yan Kongyue took a wooden box from her small bag. Inside were needles of various lengths that she hadn't used in a long time.
After thoroughly disinfecting them, Yan Kongyue began the acupuncture. Soon enough, Lin Sheng had received forty-nine needles from head to toe. With each needle inserted, she infused her spiritual energy into him. By the time she finished her set of acupuncture, beads of sweat had formed on her forehead.
Panting heavily, Yan Kongyue collapsed onto the carpet beside the sofa.
