"Hey, Sister, you really shouldn't look at this!" Lin Lang exclaimed, fearing that it would taint Yan Kongyue's pure and bright eyes. He quickly reached out to cover her eyes, but she managed to dodge him.
The girl, Anqi, completely ignored the three people at the door, as if they didn't exist at all.
Yan Kongyue pulled Lin Qinan over and shoved him next to Lin Lang. "Fourth Brother, do you want to see what a Dan Jing Gui looks like?"
Lin Lang nodded vigorously, still unaware of the danger.
After a brief moment of coldness as Yan Kongyue wiped their eyes, Lin Qinan began to regain his senses. However, the scene before him nearly brought him to tears. The once innocent and adorable girl now appeared grotesque, her body shriveled like a dried corpse. Her eye sockets were empty, devoid of eyeballs, and strange clumps of hair on her head were stuck with who-knows-what. Her fingernails were black and sharp, utterly repulsive.
What was even more unbearable was that the person below had a look of enjoyment on their face.
Lin Lang nearly vomited.
At that moment, Yan Kongyue had already walked towards the Dan Jing Gui, holding a silver spike that had appeared in her hand. Just as Lin Lang was about to pull her back, he saw Yan Kongyue raise the spike and drive it directly into the Dan Jing Gui's head.
Yet, the Dan Jing Gui maintained its sitting posture; only the area where the spike pierced began to turn black, spreading gradually. Within a few breaths, its entire body had turned black, and white maggots crawled out from beneath the dry skin. They writhed on the surface but seemed trapped, unable to escape from the corpse of the Dan Jing Gui.
"Fourth Brother, call Second Brother! Once you get through, tell him!"
"Okay, okay!" Lin Lang's pale face still bore traces of rational tears from his earlier retching. But he couldn't think about that now; he quickly took out his phone to call Lin Zhuo.
"Second Brother, Sister is looking for you!" Lin Lang shoved the phone into Yan Kongyue's hands and turned to run towards the restroom. After a couple of steps, he remembered what Yan Kongyue had instructed him and hurried back to pull Lin Qinan along with him.
"Second Brother, we caught a Dan Jing Gui! You need to contact someone from the Seventh Bureau to handle it!"
"Are you in danger?"
"No, I've already eliminated the Dan Jing Gui."
"That's good. I'll contact them now!"
"Alright, I'll send you the address!" Yan Kongyue hung up and turned to leave the room.
After Lin Lang finished vomiting, Lin Qinan joined him. Eventually, they both ended up retching together. Unable to watch any longer, Yan Kongyue infused them with some spiritual energy until they finally calmed down.
"Lin Qinan, how do you feel right now?" Yan Kongyue teased as she looked at his green face—oh no, it was more like his green head.
"I just want to know what that thing was!"
"It’s not just anything; it's a Dan Jing Gui. This kind of ghost feeds on men's essence. It can control your thoughts and lead you into sinful acts for its nourishment. The Dan Jing Gui particularly enjoys young and strong men like you; it likes to slowly drain you dry," Yan Kongyue said with a raised eyebrow at the end.
"Stop talking!" Lin Qinan interrupted hastily as images of his time with Anqi flooded his mind upon hearing Yan Kongyue's words.
"Sister, is that girl we saw when we entered transformed by it?"
"No, that girl was a real person once. It's just that she has been occupied by it for so long that she has become like this."
"Is there a possibility that when I met Anqi, she wasn't under its influence?"
"No, you should be grateful that Dan Jing Gui is inhabiting a girl's body. If you hadn't run into me today, you might have ended up like those two on the floor!"
"Damn! It's a guy?"
"That's right!" Yan Kongyue managed to keep her voice steady, but stifling her laughter was truly painful.
"Oh! Lin Qinan felt a pang of regret and decided he probably wouldn't date again for a while.
Knock, knock! The door was being knocked on.
"Who is it?"
"Just checking the water meter!"
In truth, Yan Kongyue already knew who was outside without needing to ask; it was just a reflex. However, the response from the other side left her feeling both amused and exasperated.
Hmm? Yan Kongyue thought the people outside were those she had seen at the Japanese restaurant last time, but when she opened the door, she realized that the two outside were unfamiliar to her.
