Xu Le gave him a firm pat on the back, urging, "No matter what kind of doctor you are, just make it work."
Dr. Wang had no choice but to tough it out. Besides Tan Ming, many others had been injured by the sharp edges of the leaves, and several had suffered severe injuries from being choked by a single leaf.
Under Dr. Wang's instructions, the uninjured students hurriedly brought out the medical supplies they had moved from the hospital.
It was past midnight. The medical conditions were extremely rudimentary, with a severe shortage of medical personnel. The environment was closed off, hot, and stuffy, leading to many students developing infections in their wounds.
Tan Ming, who often exercised and had good physical fitness, managed to endure after suffering from a high fever. His back wound was red and swollen, but after applying some medicine, his condition improved somewhat.
Yan Qing and several other uninjured students spent the entire night caring for the injured, cleaning up the dining area, and dealing with the bodies of those who had passed away.
"Yan Qing!" Shen Jianghuan called out loudly.
Having just carried an injured student upstairs and not yet caught his breath, Yan Qing heard Shen Jianghuan's shout. He quickly walked over and asked, "What’s wrong?"
Shen Jianghuan handed him a backpack and said, "Tan Ming asked me to give this to you."
Tan Ming had lost a lot of blood but was still somewhat conscious. Shen Jianghuan and a few girls were carefully attending to him.
Yan Qing took the backpack with his hands; it was filled with food. "Thanks," he said.
He carried the backpack upstairs. There were lights in several areas where they were supposed to sleep, but beyond that area, it was pitch dark.
Yan Qing casually entered one of the sections and sat down after stepping inside. He placed the backpack in front of him and slowly extended his left hand from his sleeve, using his phone's flashlight to take a look. To his surprise, he found that his hand—and even his entire arm—had undergone a transformation.
No wonder carrying that person earlier with just his left hand hadn’t been as difficult as he imagined.
He opened the packaging of a chicken leg and took a few bites.
Aside from the intense hunger he felt when he first activated his werewolf identity—an overwhelming sensation that was almost unbearable—the hunger had not been as strong afterward. Because of this, he often forgot to eat.
Fortunately, Tan Ming always reminded him about it from time to time.
Thinking about it, Yan Qing felt a pang of bitterness in his heart. After Tan Ming was injured, he didn’t dare to appear in front of him, unsure of how to face his questions. He hadn’t figured out how to explain himself or what to say to deflect the situation, even though he knew Tan Ming wouldn’t be easily fooled. But he understood that sooner or later, he would have to confront it.
When Yan Qing came down from the stairs, his left hand had returned to normal. Downstairs, everyone had pushed their chairs together so that the injured student could lie on them for easier care. Tan Ming glanced at him from a distance.
Yan Qing steeled himself and walked over. He couldn’t quite understand why he cared so much about Tan Ming’s feelings. But he didn’t want to dwell on it and create trouble for himself.
“Are you here?” Tan Ming looked up slightly when he saw him. Everyone else was lying down, but Tan Ming’s back was injured severely, making it impossible for him to lie flat; he could only sit sideways with a pillow held against him.
Shen Jianghuan noticed him and exchanged glances with a few of her friends, who then discreetly left the room.
Why did they leave? Yan Qing touched his nose, feeling even more uncomfortable now that they were gone.
Tan Ming had lost a lot of blood, and his face appeared pale. He spoke softly, “Shen Jianghuan knows.”
Knows what? Yan Qing was still puzzled.
Tan Ming glanced at his left hand and slowly told him, “Just now, Shen Jianghuan went upstairs to look for you.”
Yan Qing’s expression changed.
Tan Ming’s shirt was completely soaked with blood; the back was torn and ragged, making it hard to distinguish whether he was wearing it or not. When they helped him apply medicine, they had thrown away the shirt he was wearing.
After Shen Jianghuan handed Yan Qing his backpack, as soon as Yan Qing went upstairs, she remembered to ask him to help find clothes for Tan Ming and followed him up.
When she came down, her expression was heavy, her brows furrowed tightly, and her eyes were filled with worry.
