Tan Ming's eyes were as deep as a pitch-black abyss. He fixed his gaze on Yan Qing for a moment before suddenly asking, "Are you also a messenger?" 0

"How could that be? I don't have a card, so how could I be a messenger?" Yan Qing blurted out. 0

Tan Ming countered, "Does a messenger necessarily need to have a card?" His expression darkened slightly, revealing a hint of sharpness. 0

Yan Qing suddenly found himself at a loss for words. Tan Ming was unaware that he had a card, and he quickly averted his gaze, stammering, "Well, I'm not sure about that." 0

"Perhaps," Tan Ming replied nonchalantly. 0

What Yan Qing didn't realize was that Tan Ming wasn't lying; his expression revealed everything. He chose not to speak further, and Tan Ming didn't press him. 0

Across the street at the wooden structure of the Pavilion, a classmate shouted in terror, "Li Yan!" 0

Yan Qing and Tan Ming hurried over to see several classmates gathered around, staring at a body on the ground. A woman in her fifties lay there, her body marked with wounds from animal bites. Her face was frozen in horror, and her hand rested in her pants pocket as if she were trying to pull something out. 0

Yan Qing instantly recognized her as his vocal instructor, Professor Li Yan! 0

He silently mourned for Professor Li Yan for a few seconds. As he lowered his eyes, he suddenly noticed something written in blood on the inside of her left elbow—a dot followed by the word "speech." 0

A dot! There was a dot above the word! 0

Yan Qing's heart raced with alarm, fearing that someone might discover this secret. His expression turned somewhat unnatural. 0

Fortunately, everyone's attention was not focused on her arm. 0

Slowly, Yan Qing crouched down, sadness in his eyes as he softly said, "Professor, you may go now." After speaking, he gently held Professor Li Yan's left hand. At that moment, blood from the wound on her arm began to drip slowly onto the ground, quickly spreading and obscuring the numbers beneath it. 0

As Yan Qing stood up, his gaze inadvertently met Tan Ming's. His heart skipped a beat as he wondered if Tan Ming had seen it. Anxiety and unease filled him. 0

"Let's go," Tan Ming said in his usual calm tone. 0

Yan Qing secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that perhaps he hadn't been discovered after all. Just then, a sudden scream pierced the air as one classmate was unexpectedly lifted into the air by something. 0

The others instinctively looked up to see vines from the Pavilion! 0

The climbing vines were completely bare, devoid of any leaves, and they tightly wrapped around the neck, limbs, and waist of this student. It was at this moment that everyone realized the vines resembled a winding, withered serpent, coiling around the entire Pavilion. 0

The vines had now become several times thicker than usual, their tendrils exceptionally agile. They branched out into five or six limbs, raised high into the air, with the tips curling slightly like sharp hooks, seemingly poised to target each one of them. 0

The person suspended in mid-air struggled desperately, eyes wide with terror. However, gradually he fell silent as the tendrils continued to tighten around him. The vines dug into his flesh, crushing his body as blood dripped steadily to the ground, each drop making a faint sound like water droplets falling. 0
