Yun Fan did not linger in the area, his figure flickering continuously. In the blink of an eye, he vanished, leaving the entire forest enveloped in silence.
An hour later, the stillness of the forest was broken by the sound of numerous footsteps. Dozens of figures rushed towards the scene, led by a gaunt man clad in a python robe, his face dark and sullen. This man was none other than Li Ying, the Vice Captain of the Mighty Tiger Mercenary Group.
Upon seeing the countless corpses strewn across the ground, his expression soured. He had not expected all his subordinates to be slaughtered, including Zhao Yanran, who had also met her end here. Lost in thought, he realized that Zhao Hu and his gang had pursued Zhao Yanran, and now they were all dead. This indicated that a third party had intervened.
Examining the signs of battle, it was clear that no true power had been unleashed; the slaughter of Li Hu and his men seemed to have been carried out by someone at only the Peak of Body Refinement. Looking around at the traces left behind, he noted that this person had just recently departed—he had arrived too late.
Li Ying surveyed the surrounding forest, thick with thorns and dense foliage, leaving no clues behind. His expression grew increasingly grim; although the culprit had just left, finding him would be akin to searching for a needle in a haystack.
After a moment's contemplation, a glimmer of brilliance appeared in his eyes. This person might have learned about the powerful Cave, which ignited a sense of greed within him. The individual had killed everyone and taken the key. It was clear that this person would head to Thundercloud Valley to seek out this Cave and claim its treasures.
He needed to inform the Leader immediately, instructing him to lead the remaining members to lie in wait at Thundercloud Valley. They would simply need to wait for this person to arrive before capturing him and reclaiming the key.
After mulling it over for a moment longer, Li Ying turned to his subordinates and coldly commanded them to search the vicinity thoroughly for any signs of this murderer. "If you discover anything at all, report back to me immediately."
Hearing these words, his men nodded in agreement and began their search through the surrounding forest, quickly disappearing into the shadows.
As darkness gradually fell over the land, the pitch-black night sky enveloped the Desolate Mountain Range. Yun Fan had traveled for some time and finally left that forest behind. Glancing up at the dimming sky, he prepared to find a place to hide.
In the depths of the forest, he jumped and darted around until he found an abandoned Demon Beast Cave. He gathered some dry wood and leaves to cover the entrance before slipping inside.
Yun Fan took out dozens of storage bags from his robe and opened them all. After a careful examination, a smile of excitement spread across his face. The contents of these storage bags were indeed bountiful; there were plenty of Monster Materials, Ling Ling Grass, and other items that could be exchanged for a considerable amount of spirit stones.
Surrounding him were also several spirit stones piled up, along with six gleaming Demon Beast Inner Pills. Judging by their size, they appeared to be Late Stage One Beast Cores.
After organizing these items, Yun Fan decided to keep only the Demon Beast Inner Pills, stuffing everything else into his own storage bag. This haul was quite impressive. At the very least, he had acquired several spirit stones, and with the ones he already possessed, his storage bag now held over a thousand stones. Additionally, there were some Monster Materials and spiritual herbs that he could exchange later, making him somewhat wealthy.
No wonder so many people liked to venture into the Desolate Mountain Range for training; the speed at which they could acquire resources was indeed fast, especially through killing and looting, which could lead to instant riches. If one were to cultivate step by step, many would struggle their entire lives without breaking through to Zhenjing.
However, going out for training also carried risks; one could easily meet their demise at any moment.
