“Shh, don’t say that so loudly. I heard that Lin Rumei often comes here. If she hears you, you’ll be in big trouble. It’s better to be cautious with your words on Hong Kong Island, especially with the Lin family; they’re not to be trifled with,” Mark quickly warned.
Although Zhou Xuemei was carefree, she didn’t dare to act recklessly anymore. The Azure Green Society, if it was anything like what was depicted in the movies about Hong Kong Island, would be terrifying. They were certainly not good people and were just as formidable as the underground bosses from various provinces back home.
Jiang Chen looked up at the Mountain Peak; indeed, that location was quite nice. However, he didn’t care much about it. As for the fact that this was Lin Rumei’s territory, he wasn’t surprised at all. He knew she was no ordinary person, and it was normal for her to have assets on Hong Kong Island.
After Mark helped Jiang Chen secure a room at the foot of the mountain, everyone took a short break before heading out in groups to explore Hong Kong Island. Jiang Chen also seized the opportunity to wander around.
Mark, wanting to show off in front of Jiang Chen, frequently boasted about his connections, background, and experiences, trying to prove that he surpassed Jiang Chen in every aspect before Lin Jingzhu.
Jiang Chen smiled silently; he found Mark’s indirect bragging quite ridiculous and treated it as a joke. However, seeing Jiang Chen not speaking made Mark think he felt inferior, which only fueled his pride.
A group of girls traveling to Hong Kong Island naturally couldn’t resist shopping. They stopped at a luxury goods store on Causeway Bay's pedestrian street.
“This is a new Hermès bag released this year! I haven’t even seen it in the capital. I can’t believe they have it here; I must get it!” Zhou Xuemei exclaimed as her eyes lit up upon seeing a bag in the store and immediately dragged Lin Jingzhu inside.
The other classmates followed suit, but most of them were just browsing. Although luxury brands on Hong Kong Island were slightly cheaper, they were still not affordable for an average person.
“Is this bag pretty?” Zhou Xuemei asked her classmates while holding up her desired Hermès bag for their opinions.
“It’s beautiful, but it’s too expensive—over seventy thousand,” one replied.
“Li Li is a little rich girl; seventy thousand isn’t a big deal for her,” another classmate joked.
“Of course! I’m not short on money,” Zhou Xuemei laughed and then asked the sales assistant to set aside the bag for her.
The sales assistant noticed that Zhou Xuemei had walked in and immediately bought a bag, realizing that this group must have money. She quickly began promoting their products enthusiastically.
However, the others could only look; they simply couldn’t afford such luxury items. One bag equated to several months’ salary for an office worker or even half a year’s salary—too much for an average family. The group of female classmates could only envy Zhou Xuemei.
“Jingzhu, I think this bag suits you perfectly,” Mark said unexpectedly as he brought over another bag and handed it to Lin Jingzhu for her to try on.
“I—I can’t use something so extravagant,” Lin Jingzhu quickly declined. Although Lin Shihui had left enough money for her daughter’s education and living expenses before passing away, it didn’t mean she could live like a rich second generation. Just being able to travel this time was already a stretch; she wouldn’t dare buy luxury items.
“Don’t worry; you won’t have to pay for it—I’ll gift it to you,” Mark said generously.
Everyone at school knew about Mark and Lin Jingzhu’s relationship. In his pursuit of Lin Jingzhu, Mark often showered her classmates with small favors. So naturally, everyone was eager to support him now.
“Jingzhu, your senior is really nice to you! This bag matches you perfectly and is an exclusive Hermès shoulder bag,” one female classmate chimed in with a smile.
