Yan Dong gritted her teeth at the scene before her.
"You are clearly here to stir up trouble!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Zhuo Zishi muttered under his breath, "Believe it or not, this gentleman has indeed bought things from our store."
"Could it be that the food didn't suit his body?"
On the surface, it sounded like he was making excuses for his own food, but in reality, he was guiding everyone to realize that the people from the Zi Ye family had indeed eaten from their shop, which was why they encountered problems!
After he finished speaking, the onlookers outside became even more excited.
"What? So the Langya Wang Family really didn't wrong Shopkeeper Jiang this time?"
If others had no issues eating, but the Langya Wang Family's servants did, that was quite chilling when you thought about it!
"Don't mention it; I heard before that General Lin came to break off the engagement because of Langya Prince. Could it be that Shopkeeper Jiang wants revenge out of love and hate?"
If that were true, then Zi Ye was fortunate not to have set eyes on Shopkeeper Jiang's family's food; otherwise, it would have been Zi Ye lying on a stretcher.
Those questioning Jiang Family Shop were merely envious that Jiang Han had connected with the Imperial Merchant.
Why should he get to give so much food to the royal family for no reason?
How could a small shop earn more than they did?
Amidst the mocking voices, there were also those who spoke up for Jiang Han.
"You all seem to have forgotten how the Langya Wang Family bullied others before!"
"I believe it's more likely that Langya Prince is trying to find fault. Who knows if he deliberately used problematic food to frame Shopkeeper Jiang?"
For so many years, Langya Prince had relied on his power to oppress good citizens without remorse; many people had long harbored resentment against him.
Unfortunately, in front of the powerful and wealthy, they were nothing but ants.
What a pity that Shopkeeper Jiang had caught Langya Prince's attention.
The two opposing voices had no effect on Jiang Han himself.
The entire incident seemed unrelated to him; he merely watched Zhuo Zishi with cold eyes.
He couldn't let him have any opportunity to jump around.
"Besides you, is there anyone else who saw things being bought by Langya Prince's people?"
His gaze bore down on Zhuo Zishi.
Zhuo Zishi appeared momentarily stunned and awkwardly said to Lin Xuan, "There really aren't many people in the store."
Che Liu saw that Jiang Han didn't pay him any mind at all and became even angrier.
The subordinates began to rampage inside the shop.
Yan Dong's heart tightened; at this moment, only His Majesty could save Jiang Han! After pondering for a moment, she noticed that there weren't many people around and stealthily slipped away.
Jiang Han stepped forward coldly. "Take out the food you bought from me; I want to personally verify if there's anything wrong with it."
Che Liu had clearly been waiting for Jiang Han to say this. He took out a portion of food from his pocket and opened it, revealing that indeed, half of it was missing.
"This half was eaten by my brother. It was originally meant for the Langya Prince and Zi Ye. They felt sorry for us servants and decided to share it with us; isn't that great?"
Jiang Han had no intention of listening to him ramble on. She turned to Zhuo Zishi and said coldly, "The customer claims this food is poisoned. I have never had any issues with my goods. Why don't you take a few bites and see if it's poisonous?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Zhuo Zishi's face turned green.
"What? You want me to eat it?"
Zhuo Zishi looked at Jiang Han pleadingly. "What if there really is something wrong with it?"
Jiang Han scoffed, "What if there really is a problem? Then we need to find out what kind of problem it is, right? No one is going to have an issue in front of me; I refuse to believe this stuff is genuinely problematic!"
Zhuo Zishi swallowed hard, clearly unwilling to eat. He glanced at Che Liu, who shamelessly said, "How can we let our subordinates test for poison? Are you implying that you know there's something wrong with this food?"
Jiang Han replied, "Whoever handles it should be the one to try it. If someone is trying to frame Zi Ye and the Langya Prince using my name, then I would be wronged beyond belief. Don't you agree, Zhuo Zishi?"
Upon hearing those names, Zhuo Zishi's eyes darted around as he smiled awkwardly. "That's not right; clearly, you asked me to sell it!"
Without hesitation, Jiang Han questioned him, "When? What day? Was there anyone else besides you when Zi Ye came to buy things at the shop?"
A series of questions left Zhuo Zishi bewildered. Although he knew Jiang Han was not someone to mess with, he didn't expect to shoot himself in the foot so quickly.
Che Liu was thoroughly displeased: "What Shopkeeper Jiang means is that if there's something wrong with the food, then it's Zhuo Zishi's doing and has nothing to do with Shopkeeper Jiang, right?"
Jiang Han raised an eyebrow, looking at him as if he were trash. "Is that so?"
Che Liu approached Jiang Han, brandishing a long knife aimed directly at him. "You can't even handle your own affairs and yet you let innocent people take the fall for you. Shopkeeper Jiang would never bully others like this."
Having just recovered from previous injuries, Jiang Han was not keen on being harmed again. He deftly blocked the blade with the abacus in his hand. "It could have been someone else who poisoned, or perhaps it was you trying to frame me. Given these possibilities, how can you accuse me without any evidence? I've heard that your Langya Wangfu is looking to open a shop. Are you suggesting that if I buy something and later report an issue, it becomes my fault?"
With Jiang Han's words, those watching outside had nothing left to misunderstand. "Langya Wangfu is truly overstepping its bounds! I’ve said it before, Shopkeeper Jiang has run his shop for so long without any problems. This is clearly a setup!"
Despite the accusations, no one stepped forward to support Jiang Han in this matter. After all, it was Langya Wangfu they were dealing with. Offending them could cost one their life.
Che Liu's anger surged as he swung his knife toward Jiang Han. "What? Zi Ye claims there’s an issue with your shop, so it must be true? You still dare to deny it? If you don’t believe me, let’s take this to the Government Office!"
The mention of the Government Office made it clear that he had come prepared. Jiang Han nodded. "If this involves Langya Wangfu, it can't just be any ordinary Government Office. How about we report directly to the Dali Temple?"
Che Liu sneered. "No need for the Dali Temple; we’ll go straight to the Governor for justice!"
Jiang Han knew better than to gamble on the relationship between the Capital Prefect and Langya Wangfu. He raised an eyebrow. "What if I insist on having the Dali Temple involved?"
Che Liu was unfazed by such considerations. His mission was to force Jiang Han into a corner where the Imperial Merchant would have to step forward. If it came down to involving the Dali Temple, then there would be no need for the Imperial Merchant at all.
Instead, using the Magistrate to draw that person out would be the best outcome. "You can say what you want, but I've already sent word to the Governor. Soon enough, the Magistrate will send someone to arrest you!"
"Jiang Han, your time is up!"
