I chose a corner facing the wall, not looking at Du Tao, nor at Yue Qing, who was trembling in the corner. I knelt down and slowly moved the shards of glass away. 0

I have to say, it felt quite exhilarating. 0

To what extent? 0

Exhilarating enough that I wanted to strangle Du Tao, who was standing nearby, seemingly enjoying the show! 0

When I finished, Du Tao applauded and laughed heartily, saying, "Good! Good job, Xiang Dong! You're a real man! It's just a woman, right? Go for it!" 0

Du Tao laughed boisterously; to him, everything seemed amusing. After he finished speaking, he turned and left the room. 0

I sat up beside Yue Qing, pulling the glass shards from my knee while forcing a smile at her as she buried her head deep into her chest. "Hey, friend, how about going out for some fun?" I joked. 0

I knew Yue Qing wasn't crazy; I saw her excitement when I was kneeling on the glass. Her fingers dug deeply into her skin as she hugged herself tightly. 0

So I tried to lighten the mood with humor. Since I had saved her, why should I let her carry so much psychological pressure? Happiness was what mattered. 0

Yue Qing remained silent. 0

I continued pulling the glass from my knee and glanced toward the door to ensure Du Tao was gone before whispering to Yue Qing, "What's there to worry about? Who hasn't loved a couple of jerks in their life? It's all good; we're buddies. I won't laugh at you." 0

I gently nudged Yue Qing. 0

But I knew she wouldn't look up because she felt embarrassed to face me. 0

After all, which girl would want to be seen in such a situation? She wasn't wearing any clothes! 0

Yet my humor might not have been that funny after all. 0

Yue Qing still ignored me as if she had no intention of going out with me. 0

Damn it, I had to pull out all the stops! After all that trouble saving her, she had to come with me; otherwise, everything would have been for nothing! My knee hurt like hell! 0

Cough cough! 0

I pretended to clear my throat and then smiled at Yue Qing. "Let me tell you a joke." 0

As soon as I said that, Yue Qing's body trembled slightly and then shivered—she seemed angry since telling jokes now felt inappropriate and could break through her cold demeanor. 0

So here goes: A woman bought her husband seven different colored condoms—black ones, red ones, yellow ones, blue ones, purple ones, and green ones—but when her husband came home and saw them, he threw one color away and asked what color it was and why? 0

I pulled off the last shard of glass from my knee and looked at Yue Qing, who was still acting like an ostrich. "What color was it?" I asked playfully. She remained silent. 0

"Black! Because black makes you look slimmer! Ha ha!" 0

I burst into laughter first, thinking it would lighten the atmosphere. 0

But then— 0

Slap! 0

"Get lost! I don't need anyone's pity!" Yue Qing slapped me hard across the face! Her cheeks were streaked with tears but also filled with determination! 0

Looking at her face, there was no hesitation in me! With a swift motion, I swung my arm back and slapped her right back across the face! 0

"Wake the hell up!" I shouted. 0

In my entire life, I had never hit a woman, but this time was an exception. I hoped to jolt her back to reality, to make her realize that she shouldn't give up her precious life for a pervert. I had cracked my jokes and delivered my blows, and although Yue Qing lifted her head, her expression was blank, as if my slap had stunned her into silence. The anger she had shown moments before had vanished. 0

"How old are you? You still have your youth ahead of you. Come with me; I have nothing more to say. If you refuse, I'll drag you out and leave you bare on the street!" I pointed at Yue Qing's nose and said coldly. 0

Was I being a bit harsh? Perhaps. But sometimes, I only cared about the outcome, not the process. I knew Du Tao was likely eavesdropping outside; I didn't want him to hear this and just wanted to get Yue Qing out of there quickly. 0

After I finished speaking, Yue Qing's gaze suddenly snapped to me. There was a glint of killing intent in her eyes! Damn it, she was serious! 0

"You don't scare me; I've seen plenty of killers before. Once I say something, I will follow through. It doesn't matter if you agree or not; you have no choice," I said calmly. 0

If this look had been directed at me in the past, it might have frightened me. The killing intent felt tangible, but I had seen too many such gazes in Jinshan Jiao. If it weren't for the cold aura of death that I had deliberately concealed from my time there, my own killing intent might not be any less than Yue Qing's—perhaps even colder and more intimidating! 0

"Give me your clothes!" Yue Qing said icily. 0

So this is what it comes down to? But damn it, if I give you my clothes, what will I wear? It was only spring; all I had on was a shirt and pants. I couldn't very well go out with her completely naked! 0

I glanced at the bed sheet beside me and grabbed it, throwing it on the floor. "I think this suits you better," I said flatly. Yue Qing surely didn't want anyone to see her in her current state; this bed sheet could wrap around her securely. 0

Yue Qing looked up at me with a hint of gratitude in her eyes before standing up completely naked. Her body should have been beautiful and captivating, but now it was marred with countless wounds, bloodied and infected. 0

Yue Qing lay down on the bed sheet, which enveloped her as I lifted it onto my shoulder and headed outside. 0

"Aren't you going to say thank you?" Du Tao asked from the sofa, elegantly holding a glass of red wine as he watched me with a smile. 0

"Heh, thanks," I replied without turning back as I left. There was nothing more to say to this beast, even though he was my superior and even though Tian Ye Group no longer had rules against harming others. 0

I carried Yue Qing out of Tian Ye Group's headquarters amidst the gaze of countless onlookers. The thin bed sheet made it obvious that I was carrying someone, but I didn't care about their stares as I focused solely on getting Yue Qing into my Lamborghini Bat. 0

The roar of the sports car engine filled the air as Yue Qing sat up in the passenger seat. The bed sheet wrapped around her body revealed only her head; she looked calm yet dazed as she stared ahead and asked me, "Why did you save me? You don't like me." 0

Yue Qing asked calmly. Yes, she knew that I didn't like her; in fact, there were times when I even disliked her. 0

For no particular reason. 0

I responded briefly, not feeling the need to explain myself to Yue Qing; it wouldn’t benefit her in any way. 0

Heh! 0

Yue Qing let out a light laugh, tinged with a hint of disdain. 0

I saved her, and she looks down on me? 0

I chuckled helplessly. Perhaps Yue Qing knew I didn’t like her, but why did I save her? Because she had value; that was surely how she saw it. 0

But I didn’t want anything in return. I never intended for her to feel grateful; a woman’s gratitude often comes with expectations of reciprocation, and that would be quite a hassle for me. 0

I started the car and took Yue Qing to a house someone had gifted me. It was a nice place, already furnished, and I had never lived there before. 0

“This is your home now. You can rest here. I’ll have someone bring your clothes and phone over shortly,” I said as I tossed Yue Qing onto the bed. She didn’t have shoes, so I had carried her upstairs. Then I sat down to rest for a moment; my knee was hurting quite a bit from carrying her those few steps, and I was sweating from the pain. I needed to take a break before leaving. 0

Yue Qing looked up at me. 0

“What? Are you just going to leave me here after saving me? What do you want from me? Just say it,” she said firmly. I couldn’t help but chuckle lightly at her words. 0

“I don’t need you to do anything for me. Saving you was Fang Ying’s idea; I’m just the executor of that plan, so it’s right for you not to feel grateful. Now, you should rest for a bit while I take a break too because my knee hurts. After that, I’ll be on my way, alright?” I replied helplessly, looking at Yue Qing. 0

She gazed at me with her calm eyes, then smiled resignedly as if she understood something and nodded. 0

“Fine, but later you need to personally bring me my clothes and phone. Oh, and don’t forget to bring some money too,” Yue Qing said without any shame. 0

“Seriously? Can you not be so demanding? I just saved you, and I'm injured! You want me to run errands for you?” I asked in disbelief. But Yue Qing lifted her head and looked at me with vacant eyes and said, “Thank you, Xiang Dong. I know you’re a good person. I’m not trying to make things difficult for you; I'm just feeling down and don’t want to see anyone else.” 0

What the hell? 0

Just a moment ago, she was being all difficult with me. 0

And now she’s acting all pitiful? 0

Is this some kind of trap? 0
