In the room lay several corpses, blood pooling on the floor, clearly indicating that these people had died not long ago.
"Haha! Has my friend arrived? Please, come in, come in!"
A hearty voice suddenly rang out. Following the sound, I saw a middle-aged man with a bushy beard lounging on a bright red sofa, the color reminiscent of blood.
On the coffee table in front of him was not a teapot, but something else entirely.
"Hello, Tam General!"
I smiled and approached Tam, the man responsible for the deaths of seventy of my brothers. I wished for his demise!
I laughed and played along with him, all to lure him into a trap for the Hua Xia prison! This was the only thing I could do at that moment.
"Haha! Hello, hello! Please have a seat; I'll have someone clean up."
Tam waved his hand dismissively while sitting on the sofa, showing no intention of shaking my hand. I naturally withdrew mine without feeling awkward and took a seat on a nearby chair instead of that glaring red sofa; it was simply too eye-catching.
"Someone! Get these blind fools out of here! How dare they sit on my sofa!" Tam bellowed, his voice rough and commanding. Immediately, some men entered to carry away the corpses. Tam even instructed his lackeys to skin those bodies for the sofa!
That bright red sofa was made of human skin! How utterly bizarre and twisted!
Sitting in my chair, I couldn't help but feel relieved that I had found that sofa too glaring and hadn't sat on it.
"Haha, oh dear, at least the Hua Xia people know manners and understand where to sit. They are here to discuss business with me after all. You see, I enjoy doing business but dislike dealing with those who lack etiquette; negotiating with such people is exhausting. Don't you agree, little brother?"
Tam chuckled as he looked at me, his Chinese surprisingly fluent. I understood what he meant; he was telling me to be respectful as a show of power.
"Of course! To negotiate with someone like Tam General requires understanding of the rules. Rest assured, Tam General, I come with utmost sincerity."
I replied with a smile, addressing Tam General directly about the price of drugs. The Tian Ye Gang hadn’t set any strict limits; my main goal wasn’t just pricing but rather collaborating with Tam.
"Haha! That’s good! I like Hua Xia people! Those who lack manners yet are straightforward in their dealings—now tell me what your sincerity entails? Just so you know, you’ve already claimed to be sincere; if I’m not satisfied with your conditions, let me tell you that this new sofa material is quite precious."
Tam looked at me with a grin that held an unsettling hint of cruelty and madness.
I was genuinely curious if he was insane!
"Indeed, our sincerity is more than enough. You must have heard of Tian Ye Gang; we have ample funds but are merely lacking in goods. I also understand how many have sought to collaborate with you over the years; you are quite selective about your partners. So how about we offer you five times the normal price?"
I asked Tam with a smile.
In truth, Tian Ye Gang had no idea what Tam's normal prices were; neither did I. The way Tian Ye Gang notified Tam was merely sending someone from Jinshan Jiao nearby to visit him—there was no direct contact information for Tam at all.
Not knowing his prices meant he could calculate them himself; regardless, my offer would be higher than normal.
"Five times? Heh, not bad! To be honest, I've rarely encountered someone who offers five times above basic pricing without even asking what it is first. It seems you’re not really interested in price?"
Tam narrowed his eyes immediately!
I felt a jolt run through me!
I could feel the murderous intent!
"Damn it! What the hell is wrong with you? I offered you a high price, and now you're causing trouble?"
"Why do you say that, General? I’m working with you to make money," I quickly replied. But Tam just smiled, reaching for the coffee table! Then he aimed the gun directly at me!
"What the hell?!"
"Are you really pulling a gun after just a couple of words? Who would want to do business with you like this?!"
"What is the General doing?" I exclaimed in shock.
"This can’t be right! I don’t understand what he’s trying to do!"
"What’s going on? The only time I’ve seen someone not worry about prices is when they’re what you call a thug."
With the gun pointed at me, Tam smirked cruelly, and I was taken aback!
"Is he just bluffing?"
"And when you walked in and saw all those dead bodies, did you feel anything at all? I mean, I said this sofa is made of human skin, and you still showed a hint of resentment? Do you actually have a sense of justice?"
Tam chuckled coldly.
"Wow!"
"Is this for real?"
"Yes! I had that kind of feeling; how could I not know that emotion showed on my face? My acting skills have always been top-notch! Did you see right through me?"
"Do you have mind-reading abilities or something?"
"General, are you joking? Sure, I noticed something strange about the bodies; it’s definitely not what you think. From their clothing, they aren’t from your side; they came here to do business, just like me. Is it so strange that I’d be scared seeing such a scene?"
I quickly started to defend myself. Whether Tam really saw that flicker of emotion or not, I felt there was no need to hide it intentionally!
If there was indeed something unusual that flashed across my mind back then, denying it would only get me killed faster! So it was better to find a suitable excuse and admit that I felt something odd.
"Oh? Go on."
Tam looked at me with interest but still kept the gun trained on me.
"And about your sofa, General! It’s made of human skin! How could I not be afraid? Our Huaxia Underworld has been peaceful for too long..."
I continued explaining awkwardly, still looking for excuses. It was perfectly normal to be scared; that was understandable.
"Heh, useless."
Tam sneered twice and then lowered his gun. I breathed a sigh of relief. "Whether I'm useless or not isn’t for you to judge!"
"Sure, I'm afraid of dying."
"But being afraid of death is meaningless—that’s true!"
"I have to say, kid, your mind works pretty fast; you're quite articulate. Here’s the deal: kneel down for me, bow your head twice, and call me 'Grandfather' twice. Then I'll consider working with you since I'm quite satisfied with the price you've offered! Ha ha!"
Tam laughed heartily.
My expression changed instantly!
Kneel?
These two words made me tremble with anger!
This was an insult! An insult to my dignity!
General, I came to discuss business with you seriously. If you think that just because I offered a high price, you can make me kneel, that seems unreasonable, right? After all, I represent Tian Ye Gang. What you’re doing is equivalent to slapping Tian Ye Gang in the face.
My expression darkened. In that moment, my thoughts shifted. I had been afraid of offending Tam and bringing about my own demise, but dying like this seemed utterly meaningless. I also understood that Tam's demand for me to kneel was not just to humiliate me; it was a message to Tian Ye Gang about what kind of attitude they should maintain towards him in future collaborations.
There are boundaries in everything!
I am a man!
A damn man from Huaxia! Kneeling on your territory in Jinshan Jiao? Who the hell do you think you are?
“You won’t kneel?”
Tam’s face suddenly turned cold as he looked at me, as if the moment I said no, he would immediately pull out a weapon from the coffee table and shoot me.
Yes, I cannot do it.
I looked at Tam without a hint of fear and said, “If this mission fails because of that, then I have nothing more to say. But if you want me to kneel before others and let them know about it, I would rather they hear news of my death, just like Linna.”
As an undercover agent, there’s no choice but to appropriately disguise myself and cater to others—provided it’s within limits. If someone tries to breach my final stronghold...
Dignity Fortress!
I chose to fight back fiercely!
Ha! Hahaha! Good! Well done!
Tam suddenly burst into laughter, but his hand moved towards the coffee table. I frowned, ready to hit the alarm button when suddenly someone knocked on the door!
What did you say? I couldn’t understand.
I guessed it must be someone with important news to report!
