The next day, Chen Ming and Ning Chuan took an undercover police officer to the headquarters of the Tian Ye Group in the Kyoto Central District to report in. Meanwhile, I began a seemingly calm and glamorous life.

At that moment, Liu Sen was leading all the Tiger Hall members in training in the backyard while Zheng Yu and I watched from the side. Liu Sen had a solid method for training his men; before long, he could form a special operations team.
Zheng Yu stood with his hands behind his back, smiling as he spoke to me. The business of the Security Company was entirely managed by Zheng Yu. The work wasn't too difficult—find a shady businessman like Cheng Hai, stir up some trouble, and then provide security services to earn hefty protection fees.
"Not bad," I replied. "I hope this special operations team never sees any real action."
I chuckled, saying that if they didn't get involved in anything serious, it meant my luck was good—smooth sailing was exactly what an undercover agent desired.
Zheng Yu smiled at this but said nothing. It had been half a month since my last meeting with Chen Ming, and during this time, Zheng Yu had been diligently helping me without any signs of ill intent. This made me feel both relieved and anxious; I was grateful that Zheng Yu seemed like a good brother, but worried that the deeper he hid his true intentions, the greater his goals might be.
"By the way," I asked, "is Geng Kun still trying to talk to you? Keep this under wraps; don't let Liu Haoran see you getting too close to him."
Zheng Yu replied that Geng Kun had invited him out for meals more than once over the past half month. The purpose was clear: after my scapegoat plan had revealed my talents to Ning Chuan, my Security Company had performed exceptionally well in just half a month, proving once again that I was indeed capable. Ning Chuan wanted to recruit me.
I politely declined under the pretext of loyalty. This earned me respect from Ning Chuan—at least on the surface. Perhaps he found me annoyingly old-fashioned behind closed doors but hadn’t given up on trying to bring me into his fold.
"Seems like he's intentionally downplaying his intentions," I remarked with a smile. "But Geng Kun reaching out to me is something Liu Haoran and Chen Ming must know about. That's why I'm enjoying so many benefits now; Chen Ming wants to prove that staying with him is the right choice."
I understood that if I ever defected to Ning Chuan's side, Chen Ming would immediately turn against me and send someone to eliminate me.
Zheng Yu nodded in agreement but said nothing further. This situation was exactly what I wanted—just dragging things out! At that moment, Liu Sen finished training and walked over to us while wiping sweat off his brow.
“Dong Ge! There’s something I want to discuss with you.”
Liu Sen’s dark skin glistened under the sunlight as he approached us while drying off his sweat.
“What is it?” I asked him.
Liu Sen continued, “I feel like our little brothers are really good quality lately. I have a friend who’s mixed up with mercenaries over in Yue Nan; I want to take them there for some training.”
“Oh?” I raised an eyebrow at this news. “Training in Yue Nan? That place seems chaotic—mixing with mercenaries? That sounds dangerous.”
"Well! I think it's a good idea, Dong Ge. Your special operations team will definitely improve," Zheng Yu said, breaking the silence.
I hadn’t made a decision yet, but I smiled at Zheng Yu's enthusiasm. "Practicing is good; even if it doesn’t work out in our hands, it still poses a threat to the enemy."
"Alright then, you can choose some people, but make sure they volunteer," I said to Liu Sen with a smile. This kind of training could be dangerous. Liu Sen nodded in agreement, and Zheng Yu chuckled, saying to me, "Dong Ge, it's rare to see a leader like you who cares about what his subordinates think."
I laughed at that and replied seriously to Zheng Yu, "In my view, there are no subordinates, only brothers!"
"Nice! I give you a thumbs up for that!" Zheng Yu said with a grin, giving me a thumbs-up. Liu Sen immediately ran off to tell the younger members about this operation, and soon many people signed up. Danger always comes with potential rewards; although they knew it would be risky, they also understood that their status would change after participating.
Liu Sen was always efficient in his work; that very day he selected one hundred volunteers! Afterward, I called Liu Sen into my office. The security company had been doing well lately, and combined with the profits from my various venues, I had earned over seven million after deducting what needed to be handed over to the group in just half a month! Of course, this was thanks to Chen Ming's support.
"Here’s a million-dollar check. It’s not much, but let it be pocket money for the brothers going to Yue Nan," I said as I handed him the check. If you invest, you should expect returns; these one hundred brothers were willing to undergo tough training for the company, so a small gift was necessary.
"Wow! Dong Ge, your treatment of your subordinates is commendable. These days, the younger members have been saying they've never met such a great leader as you—no pretentiousness and genuinely caring for them. They are very willing to fight for you," Liu Sen said without hesitation as he accepted the check and expressed gratitude on behalf of the younger members.
I smiled at his words and then asked, "Since this operation is voluntary for them, I shouldn’t say this: try to bring as many people as possible. We can’t afford to lose half of them if only one hundred go."
"Caring leaders don’t command troops well, Dong Ge," Liu Sen reminded me with a laugh. I chuckled in response; he was right—caring leaders often struggle with command.
"How long do you plan to be away? I need to find someone to fill your coaching position," I asked with a smile as Liu Sen prepared to leave. The regular training at the Security Company still needed to continue.
"About three months," Liu Sen thought for a moment before answering. I nodded and then he recommended someone named Xiao.
Since Xiao became the general manager, he had been quite stable in his role. Liu Sen often interacted with him and they had sparred together; although Xiao seemed not to have beaten Liu Sen in their encounters, his skills received Liu Sen's praise.
"That works; his job isn’t too busy so taking on an extra role should be fine," I said with a smile. This matter was settled. Shortly after, Liu Sen contacted his friend and confirmed everything; they would set off in two days.
I also reached out to Xiao. When Xiao Yi heard that I wanted him to come on as a coach, he was quite pleased and immediately agreed.
That night when I got home, Linna asked me about my day as usual. I told her everything that happened. In fact, I had now entered a stable phase; I had secured my position as the leader of our faction, and the next step was aiming for Liu Haoran’s position.
"Well, it's been a peaceful time lately. You should take a break; otherwise, you'll wear yourself out."
Linna said to me while preparing some water, and of course, I felt delighted!

I asked, and Linna smiled in response. She assured me not to worry about her or Grandma Zi; she could handle it herself.
The two days of peace quickly passed by. Before I knew it, Liu Sen had already left with his men and arrived at the Security Company headquarters to train the remaining subordinates.
Three days later at noon, Zheng Yu and I were basking in the sun on the training field while watching the younger guys train. Zheng Yu was reporting on the earnings of the security company and our upcoming goals.
Cheng Hai had paid us two security fees totaling two million yuan, while Wang Jianyi's security fee was five hundred thousand yuan.
Zheng Yu first reported on several big clients we had already scammed before continuing with our next target. I nodded in agreement; Zheng Yu has always been reliable in his work. He targets unscrupulous merchants who are willing to pay hefty protection fees—sometimes tens of thousands for just one! The most favored client, Cheng Hai, was charged one million! For those shady merchants, that's just a drop in the bucket.
"Alright, just handle it as you see fit," I replied after hearing Zheng Yu's report. It's time we consider our next step."
I fell silent after hearing Zheng Yu's words. During this period, Chen Ming had been very supportive of me, helping me strengthen my own power. Ning Chuan had also shown goodwill towards me; he pretended not to notice my growing strength. With this connection established in just half a month’s time, my Tiger Hall's capabilities had indeed improved significantly. It was indeed time for the next step.
