"Since you put it that way, let's be straightforward. You asked me to help you get rid of Xiong Li, and I did, right? After that, you promised to help me secure a vote so I could become the leader of White Tiger Hall. Let's not even discuss whether that vote was the reason I got this position; even if you did help me, we are even now. I am the leader of White Tiger Hall, and you are the leader of Vermilion Bird Hall. What gives you the right to command me to hand over my rightful subordinates?
I turned to Cao Hui and asked if it was time to lay everything out on the table. If we were talking about reason, I was clearly in the right. However, reasoning must be based on certain foundations; many truths, even if correct, cannot persuade others because they hold no relevance to them.
Cao Hui was momentarily stunned by my words; perhaps my reasoning left him at a loss for words. He quickly switched to a mode of strong-arming and began threatening me.
"Xiang Dong! Talking to you about this is pointless! Let me tell you one thing: I can help you rise to this position just as easily as I can bring you down! If you don't open your eyes, don't blame me for being ruthless!"
Cao Hui pointed at me with a sinister expression; this was his true nature—ferocious.
"Fine, I won't blame you. Go ahead; I've decided not to open my eyes."
I sat back in my boss's chair, crossing my legs with a slight smile on my lips. When facing those who want to bully you or take advantage of you, we must adopt an attitude that shows we aren't afraid of anything.
What can you do to me?
Seeing my demeanor made Cao Hui's face turn green with anger. He was intent on taking advantage of me, but I remained unyielding. At this point, he must have been grinding his teeth in frustration.
"Xiang Dong, you're really something! Do you think that just because you're the leader now, I can't do anything about it? Look at this!"
Cao Hui pulled out a metal plate from his pocket and threw it at me. Without even looking, I knew it contained evidence collected by Lu Qiang from the day I had my accident.
"I'm not interested in looking at it; take it away and do whatever you want with it."
I tossed it back to Cao Hui, leaving him momentarily stunned. He thought that by presenting this evidence and threatening me with words, I would definitely take a look at it. My indifference caught him off guard; after all, what was the point of me looking?
"Ha! Damn! You really are something! Don't you want to know what's inside?"
Cao Hui frowned at me as he held the plate. I replied candidly, "I know what it is—it's the evidence Lu Qiang collected about my accident when we went out together. So what?"
Cao Hui was taken aback again; my unexpected response seemed to throw him off balance.
"You actually know?"
"Why wouldn't I?"
Cao Hui asked in surprise. I answered plainly, and after hearing my response, he sneered and nodded. In his eyes, I detected a hint of admiration for me—a look I gladly accepted.
"But do you know how many years in prison you could get for hitting someone and fleeing? Right now, I could send you straight to jail! You'd have nothing left!"
Cao Hui pointed at me with a hint of madness in his eyes; it seemed he had truly lost his mind in confusion.
"You think that just because I know what's in that plate, you'll still be able to threaten me? I've seen through your little schemes long ago; there's nothing more for us to discuss. Have a nice day."
I looked at Cao Hui with an expression that seemed to see right through him. He froze again before erupting in anger!
"Damn it! You’ve been messing with me this whole time!" Cao Hui shouted as he hurled the plate in his hand at me. It struck my head with pinpoint accuracy! Though the plate was small, the force was considerable, and it left a mark on my skin, drawing a bit of blood.
Bang!
Before I could react, the door burst open as Liu Sen kicked it in. His office was right next to mine, so he could hear the commotion.
Liu Sen immediately bellowed, "What the hell! You’re hitting my brother Dong? I’ll take you down!"
With that, Liu Sen charged at Cao Hui like a tank. How dare he hit me? Did he think I had no brothers?
Cao Hui’s eyes widened in shock. Physically, Liu Sen could easily overpower him, and he must have realized he had acted too impulsively by confronting me on my turf without backup.
Slap!
Liu Sen wasted no time and delivered a powerful slap that knocked Cao Hui down! Cao Hui screamed, "Xiang Dong! Are you declaring war on me? This is war!"
"Shut up!" Liu Sen retorted without hesitation, kicking Cao Hui again, causing him to wail even louder. Meanwhile, I picked up an ashtray with a cold smile and approached the fallen Cao Hui. I pushed Liu Sen aside and grinned at Cao Hui, who lay on the ground with a look of fear on his face.
So what if I’m declaring war on you?
I raised the ashtray and asked domineeringly, "You?"
Cao Hui’s face showed a hint of terror as he opened his mouth to respond.
Slap!
Before he could finish his word, I brought the ashtray down hard on his head! "How dare you hit me on my turf?"
"You really think you can mess with me?"
With that, I knocked Cao Hui out cold with the ashtray, blood streaming from his head. Seeing his blood made me feel a rush; I’ve always had a bad habit of never losing a fight.
"Ha! Take him out and throw him far away," I said with satisfaction to Liu Sen. He nodded and carried Cao Hui out of my office while I rummaged through my desk for a band-aid to cover my wound.
I wasn't sure if Linna would ask about this little injury, but even if she did, it shouldn't be a problem. I knocked Cao Hui out with an ashtray, so Linna would definitely be satisfied.
After dealing with Cao Hui, I stayed at Tianchi for a while before heading home. Although I was now the leader of White Tiger Hall, I was also working part-time as the General Manager of Tianchi. I planned to start a security company soon and wanted Wan Fei to be the general manager; otherwise, I wouldn't even have a place to stay.
Once I got home, Linna did ask me how I got the wound on my arm. I told her the truth. She responded with an "oh," and surprisingly, she didn't seem to mind that I had hit someone harder.
"Now that you've gone to war with Cao Hui, you're caught between two enemies, right? Geng Kun shouldn't just sit back and let this happen," Linna inquired. I chuckled at her question; it was something I had considered. The last time Geng Kun called Ning Chuan, Ning Chuan had already lost his patience and clearly didn't want to deal with Geng Kun anymore.
Although Chen was also reluctant to intervene with Liu Hao—after all, Liu Hao had the upper hand over Geng Kun—neither of the two bosses would take action. Geng Kun couldn't compete with Liu Hao, so he probably wouldn't make any moves either. On the contrary, Liu Hao would seize this opportunity to keep targeting Geng Kun, weakening his power.
Liu Hao could only weaken Geng Kun by allowing me and Cao Hui to encroach on his resources. So right now, Liu Hao needed me and Cao Hui more than ever; he certainly wouldn't want to see us fighting.
In this situation, Cao Hui was in the wrong. He wanted to seize my resources, and as our conflict escalated, Liu Hao would likely not side with him. In fact, Liu Hao might even grow dissatisfied with Cao Hui. Would Liu Hao really want to find trouble for himself at this time?
So, neither of them would come looking for me; at most, they might resort to some petty tricks behind my back.
I smiled at Linna and shared my reasoning with her. After listening, she agreed it made sense. Even if Cao Hui was furious about being beaten by me, once he calmed down at home, he would realize the underlying issues.
Now was the time to encroach on the territories of Qinglong and Xuanwu Halls. Only after taking control of these two halls could he think about targeting me. Forcing issues now would only provoke Liu Hao's strong discontent.
After that, Linna and I discussed future plans. Having already secured my position as hall master, moving up further wouldn't happen overnight; first, I needed to solidify White Tiger Hall.
Linna was very supportive of my idea to start a security company and even provided me with a list of potential clients.
"Look, these are wealthy individuals in Kyoto—some owe money to migrant workers or engage in unscrupulous businesses—and they don't know the upper management of Tian Ye Group at all. They're quite rich!" Linna said cheerfully.
I glanced at the list and felt a surge of excitement as I noticed there were dozens of names on it. After all, Linna used to be a little princess of Tian Ye Group; knowing such people was a huge advantage!
"Are there any on here that you have past grievances with?" I asked Linna while examining the list, suspecting she might have some personal vendettas.
"Ha! What are you joking about? Who would dare hold a grudge against me? In the past!" Linna chuckled lightly before adding "in the past." I laughed too; that made sense. Then Linna told me, "You should pay extra attention to Cheng Hai on that list; he's really annoying."
I laughed again; wasn't that still a grudge? Curious about what Cheng Hai had done to annoy her, I asked Linna for details. She explained that he hadn't really done anything specific but was just like an irritating fly.
With that description from Linna, it seemed likely that Cheng Hai had pursued her or something similar. Since Linna felt this way about him, once my security company opened for business, I'd make sure to deal with Cheng Hai first!
