Lin Father furrowed his brows and sighed deeply, expressing his concerns, "I am worried too. Is that Ling Yu really a college student? Half of the guests who came today seem unfamiliar with Ling Yu's Mother. Could Lina have brought someone to deceive us?"
Lin Mother, filled with anxiety, grasped Lin Father's hand tightly, her eyes glistening with tears. "We need to find an appropriate time to talk to Lina and share our worries with her."
Lin Father nodded, his gaze drifting towards their daughter, who was lost in happiness. He silently prayed that this was just a misunderstanding on their part. However, Lin Father and Lin Mother's concerns went unnoticed by the newlyweds, as Ling Yu and Ling Na remained immersed in their sweet world.
As night fell and the lights began to twinkle, the couple strolled hand in hand under the stars, discussing their dreams for the future. Meanwhile, back home, Lin Father and Lin Mother quietly prayed for their daughter, hoping their worries would not come true.
Lin Mother could no longer hold back her tears and choked out, "What if we really have been deceived? We only have this one daughter; we cannot let her suffer."
After a moment of silence, Lin Father slowly replied, "Let’s not jump to conclusions just yet. Things may not be as we think. We should observe them a little longer and see how they behave."
Wiping away her tears, Lin Mother nodded in agreement. "I suppose that’s all we can do. I hope Lina has truly found a place to belong."
The worries of Lin Father and Lin Mother loomed over the newlyweds' happiness like a dark cloud. With heavy hearts filled with doubt, Ling Na's parents decided to reach out to Ling Yu's Mother once more for cautious verification.
The next day, Lin Father and Lin Mother invited Ling Yu's Mother over for a gathering. On the surface, it was meant to foster understanding; in reality, it was an opportunity to subtly uncover the truth.
Lin Mother broke the silence first. "In-Law, as the saying goes, an ugly daughter-in-law will eventually meet her in-laws. We didn’t educate our daughter well; Lina had a previous relationship—do you really not mind?"
Ling Yu's Mother smiled as she held Lin Mother's hand. "In-Law, we have long been aware of that. For us, Lina's past is not important; what matters is her current happiness and future. We believe Ling Yu will be a responsible husband and build a warm family."
Hearing these words eased some of the burden on Lin Father and Lin Mother's hearts. "I see that Ling Yu is not young anymore; since the wedding date is set, they can obtain their marriage certificate first and hold the wedding later. What do you think?"
Ling Yu's Mother nodded gently in agreement. "We accept this suggestion; after all, marriage is a significant matter in life that requires careful consideration. We will discuss it with Ling Yu to ensure everything is ready."
Upon hearing this response, Lin Father and Lin Mother felt that things were progressing too smoothly—beyond their expectations.
Lin Mother pondered to herself: Their daughter was indeed beautiful; could it be that she was destined for good fortune?
Ling Yu's Mother seemed to sense Lin Mother's doubts. "I really like this girl Lina. Our family has lived abroad for a long time; our thoughts are quite open-minded. We are also okay with obtaining the marriage certificate first."
