In the courtyard, some common weeds were growing, not precious but full of the essence of life. The house was a traditional brick and tile structure, bearing the marks of time, yet it exuded a warm and solid feeling.
As they walked into the courtyard, Lin Na's Mother came out upon hearing the noise. The moment she saw her daughter, tears of excitement welled up in her eyes. She hurried forward and embraced Ling Na tightly, her voice trembling as she said, "Lina, you’re back! I’ve missed you so much." Ling Na held her mother close, tears streaming down her face. "Mom, I’ve missed you too."
Lin Na's Father stood to the side, his eyes slightly red. He looked at his daughter and grandchildren, filled with emotion. After a moment, he finally spoke, "It’s good that you’re back; that’s all that matters."
However, when their gaze fell upon the two children, the atmosphere became somewhat delicate. Lin Na's Mother knew that her daughter had given birth out of wedlock, and her heart was filled with both pain and worry.
With a gentle sigh, Lin Na's Mother took Ling Na's hand and said, "Lina, my dear child, how could you be so thoughtless? Having children before marriage... what will happen in the future?" Ling Na lowered her head in guilt, unsure of how to respond.
At that moment, Ling Xue stepped forward and respectfully addressed Lin Na's Mother. "Uncle and Auntie, I’m sorry for not taking better care of Ling Na. But I assure you, I will take full responsibility for Ling Na and the children." Lin Na's Mother looked at Ling Xue with doubt in her eyes.
"Lina," she said quickly, "Ling Yu is really a good person. He takes great care of me and the kids. We’ve decided to get married."
Lin Na's Mother fell silent for a moment but eventually nodded. They understood that it was too late to say anything now; all they could do was hope for their daughter's happiness in the future. Lin Na's Mother picked up one of the children with love in her eyes. "These two kids are so adorable; they look just like Lina." Lin Na's Father also came over, looking at the children with a smile on his face.
At that moment, Lin Na's Brother and Sister ran out as well. The younger brother was an energetic teenager with curious eyes. He looked at Ling Yu and cheerfully asked, "Are you my sister’s boyfriend?" The sister shyly hid behind him while stealing glances at them.
Lin Na's Mother sat inside the house and began to ask Ling Xue—who was actually Ling Yu—various questions. Lin Na's Father was the first to inquire: "Ling Yu, are you still in school? What are your plans for the future? How will you support Lina and the children?"
Ling Yu calmly replied, "Uncle, although I’m still in school, I have my own career development plans. I will work hard to create good living conditions for Ling Na and the kids."
Lin Na's Mother then asked, "What about your family situation? We don’t want Lina to suffer after marrying into your family." Ling Yu replied unhurriedly, "Auntie, please don’t worry. My family is doing well, and my mother is very understanding. When they learned about my relationship with Ling Na, they didn’t oppose it; instead, they supported us."
Just then, Ling Yu discreetly activated his disguise skill. Soon after, a luxury car slowly drove up to Lin Na’s home. A graceful noblewoman stepped out of the car followed by a driver carrying large bags of gifts.
This noblewoman was actually Ling Yu’s disguised mother; her appearance seemed to illuminate the entire courtyard. She wore a fitted purple qipao that perfectly accentuated her graceful figure with exquisite tailoring. Her slender waist seemed delicate enough to be held in one hand. The qipao’s slit revealed her long legs just enough to add an air of elegance to each step she took.
Her beauty was breathtaking. Her fair skin was as smooth as mutton-fat jade without a single blemish. Beneath elegantly arched willow-leaf brows were bright large eyes that sparkled like stars with wisdom and warmth. Her high nose bridge and petite mouth seemed meticulously sculpted. Her hair was styled in an elegant bun with a few strands cascading down her cheeks, adding an extra touch of allure. Lin Na's Mother gazed at this scene in astonishment.
The Noble Lady smiled as she entered the house. "In-law! In-law! How are you?" Her voice was gentle yet authoritative.
Lin Na's Mother quickly stood up but felt somewhat flustered. The Noble Lady continued speaking: "I heard from Ling Yu about his relationship with Lina; I really like this child Lina. Let bygones be bygones; as long as the kids are happy, that’s what matters most to us mothers."
Lin Na's Mother was moved to tears by these words. She took the Noble Lady’s hand and said, "You truly are understanding. We also hope Lina can have a good life."
The Noble Lady smiled and said: "Then let’s discuss the wedding for the children." Thus everyone gathered together to lively discuss wedding dates. Throughout this process, Ling Yu occasionally chimed in with comments that made the atmosphere even more harmonious.
In the end, they unanimously decided on an auspicious day for Ling Yu and Ling Na’s wedding. The entire house was filled with laughter and joy—a scene of warmth and happiness.
