After watching the movie, the chubby guy suggested they go out for a meal. Just as Ling Xue had thought, it was almost the same old routine. They arrived at a cozy restaurant, ordered their food, and while waiting for it to be served, the chubby guy nervously searched for a topic to discuss.
"Wow, that movie was really good. What do you think?" he asked.
Ling Xue smiled and nodded, "Yes, it was indeed very meaningful." After finishing their meal, Ling Xue took the initiative to pay the bill. The chubby guy was surprised and exclaimed, "How can I let you pay?"
Ling Xue waved her hand dismissively, "It's fine. You can treat me next time."
As they walked back together, the chubby guy felt a mix of emotions. He didn't know how to express his feelings for Ling Xue. Gathering his courage, he leaned closer to her and whispered in her ear, "I'm really happy today. You're the most special girl I've ever met."
Hearing this, Ling Xue's heart fluttered slightly, an inexplicable fondness swelling within her. She lowered her head shyly and replied, "You're special too."
The chubby guy's face turned slightly red. "Can I ask you out again in the future?" Ling Xue hesitated for a moment, remembering that their mission was not yet complete, then nodded, "Sure."
The chubby guy was so excited he nearly jumped up. "That's great! I promise I'll make it worthwhile."
They continued walking, and the atmosphere became somewhat delicate. Ling Xue began to reflect on her attitude towards him; perhaps she could gain something different from this mission after all.
Actually, I really enjoy being with you like this, Ling Xue said softly, a faint blush creeping onto her cheeks. "Next time we can take a walk together and see what beautiful sights our school has to offer." The chubby guy's eyes lit up as he eagerly nodded, his heart filled with joy like the warm sunshine of spring.
As they continued on their way, the atmosphere grew increasingly ambiguous. The chubby guy looked at Ling Xue with tenderness in his eyes. "You're so beautiful today, just like the heroine in the movie."
Ling Xue chuckled lightly. "With such sweet words, do you say this to every girl?"
The chubby guy quickly shook his head. "Of course not! I only say this to you." Ling Xue raised an eyebrow playfully. "Well then, I’ll take your word for it." As she spoke, she casually linked her arm through his.
The chubby guy's heart soared; he couldn't help but feel his pulse quicken. Stammering slightly, he said, "If you keep doing that, I'm going to get really nervous."
Ling Xue teased him deliberately. "Nervous about what? Don’t you like it?"
He hurriedly replied, "I do! Of course I do." They chatted back and forth, enjoying this warm and sweet moment together.
Ling Xue felt a bit surprised herself; she had initially only intended to complete her mission but found that being with the chubby guy brought her a different kind of happiness. Meanwhile, he was lost in blissful thoughts about spending more time with Ling Xue in the future.
For several days in a row, Ling Xue and the chubby guy met frequently, and their feelings gradually deepened. At first, Ling Xue treated it as just a task to fulfill but slowly found herself getting immersed in it. Whenever he whispered softly in her ear, her heart would race uncontrollably and she found herself liking him even more.
On the weekend, they decided to take a trip to the countryside. They strolled along a small path outside the city, admiring the beautiful natural scenery and enjoying this peaceful time together. However, as fate would have it, dark clouds suddenly rolled in and heavy rain began to pour down. They searched for shelter but ultimately had no choice but to find a hotel to stay temporarily.
Once inside their hotel room, the atmosphere became somewhat tense. The chubby guy looked at Ling Xue who was drenched from the rain and felt a surge of concern.
"Quickly take a hot shower so you don’t catch a cold," he said gently.
Ling Xue nodded shyly and headed into the bathroom. Inside, her emotions were complicated as she pondered whether her feelings for him were genuine; this mission seemed to have exceeded her expectations.
After finishing her shower and stepping out of the bathroom, she saw the chubby guy sitting on the edge of the bed with concern etched on his face. He quickly handed her a towel. "Here, dry your hair quickly so you don’t get sick."
