Hou Kang mentioned that he knew a few women who had been deceived, one of whom he could contact, Li Jing, a housewife. Li Jing had an affair with a man, and later that man kept asking her for money. Eventually, her husband found out and they got divorced. Upon hearing this news, Ling Xue and Ling Na felt that it might be an important lead.
Ling Xue said, "We must find Li Jing to learn more about the situation." Ling Na and Hou Kang agreed.
Hou Kang brought Li Jing in, who appeared weary and her eyes reflected the hardships she had endured. She slowly took a seat and began to recount her painful story.
"Alas, I made a mistake due to a moment of weakness. Because of the affair, I ended up with nothing during the divorce. With no way out, I was left to wander aimlessly, and it was during my lowest point that I met Hou Kang." Li Jing's voice was hoarse and deep, each word seemed to carry endless regret. "As for that man, Zhao Xiaolei, I haven't been able to contact him for quite some time. However, I do know some of his preferences and the places he frequents."
Ling Xue furrowed her brow slightly and after a moment of contemplation said decisively, "Perhaps we can devise a plan to lure him out. I'll act as bait."
Upon hearing this, Ling Na's face filled with concern as she anxiously said, "Ling Xue, that's too dangerous! What if something goes wrong?"
But Ling Xue's gaze was resolute, like a tall pine tree standing firm against the wind. She spoke with conviction, "It's fine. As long as we plan carefully, we can minimize the risks. I'll disguise myself as a lonely yet wealthy woman and appear in places where Zhao Xiaolei often goes to attract his attention."
Hou Kang quickly added his thoughts: "I can observe from nearby and provide support if anything happens."
The group immediately began discussing the specifics of their plan enthusiastically. They decided to first gather detailed information about Zhao Xiaolei's preferences and routines before formulating a meticulous strategy to draw him out. Ling Xue would make a stunning entrance at a specific time and place, showcasing her wealth and charm like a mysterious flower blooming in the dark night, enticing Zhao Xiaolei to take the bait. Meanwhile, Ling Na and Hou Kang would closely monitor from the shadows like guardian angels to ensure Ling Xue's safety. If Zhao Xiaolei appeared, they would swiftly take action like leopards pouncing on their prey to capture him for the relevant authorities.
The group set their plan into motion by first heading to the hotel where Zhao Xiaolei often visited. The hotel lobby was bright and bustling with people. Ling Xue sat elegantly on a sofa in her glamorous attire, seemingly casually scanning the room while actually searching for any sign of Zhao Xiaolei. Ling Na and Hou Kang pretended to be strangers nearby while keeping an eye on everything around them. However, as time passed minute by minute, Zhao Xiaolei never showed up.
Next, they went to the bar that Zhao Xiaolei frequently visited. The bar was filled with flashing lights and deafening music; people were dancing freely on the floor. Ling Xue stood by the bar counter, ordered a colorful cocktail, exuding captivating charm with every movement. Ling Na and Hou Kang remained in a corner, their eyes constantly scanning the crowd. Yet even until closing time at the bar, there was still no sign of Zhao Xiaolei.
Finally, they arrived at the place where Zhao Xiaolei used to live—a somewhat old neighborhood with dimly lit and damp buildings. They knocked on his former door but found that it had already been occupied by new tenants who knew nothing about Zhao Xiaolei. They inquired around the neighborhood but came up empty-handed.
The continuous searching left everyone feeling heavy-hearted; however, Ling Xue refused to give up. Gritting her teeth she said, "We can't lose hope; there must be other ways to find him." Ling Na and Hou Kang nodded in agreement, revitalized and ready to continue their search for clues.
During this long and exhausting search process, Ling Xue exhausted all options before finally thinking of Officer Hou Hong. She knew that without police assistance, finding Zhao Xiaolei would become increasingly unlikely. When she approached Officer Hou Hong for help with hope in her heart, it felt as though she had been doused with cold water. Days passed without any progress; time had slipped away.
Ling Xue tried calling Hou Hong several times for an invitation but received only indifference in return. She decided to go find him at his workplace.
Arriving at the police station entrance, she took a deep breath and gathered her courage before stepping inside. Dressed in an exquisite outfit, her graceful figure seemed like a brilliant star descending upon this ordinary place as she entered the police station. Her delicate features and alluring presence instantly captured everyone's attention. The people in the station were momentarily stunned before erupting into gasps of admiration; her glamorous appearance made an unforgettable impression on all present.
