Upon hearing the system update mission, Ling Xue first felt a surge of excitement, but that quickly turned into concern when she saw that the task involved contacting the notorious playboy, Hei Hu. However, when she realized she needed to ask Ling Na for information about her boyfriend, she hurriedly organized her thoughts and turned to Ling Na.
“Ling Na, I just remembered something. You mentioned your unreliable boyfriend who took out a loan for you. What’s his name? Maybe we can find a way out of our current situation through him.”
Ling Xue tried to keep her tone natural and sincere; she didn’t want Ling Na to sense anything unusual, as this matter was crucial for the progress of their mission.
Ling Na was slightly taken aback. She hadn’t expected Ling Xue to ask about this so suddenly. A flicker of complex emotions crossed her face before she hesitated and replied, “His name is Dai Dong. Ugh, I don’t even want to mention that name anymore. Just thinking about what he did to me feels like a knife stabbing my heart.”
When Ling Xue heard the name Dai Dong, her heart sank. Memories of what she had learned earlier flashed through her mind. She widened her eyes in disbelief. “Ling Na, did you say his name is Dai Dong? That’s too much of a coincidence! I heard another friend, Pan Mei, mention that her boyfriend is also named Dai Dong. Could it be the same person?”
Ling Na looked equally shocked, her lips trembling as her voice wavered. “What? Pan Mei’s boyfriend is also named Dai Dong? How is that possible? Did that scoundrel deceive more than just me?” As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes again, filled with anger and grievance.
Ling Xue furrowed her brow; she realized this was more complicated than it seemed. This Dai Dong was likely a key figure behind many of their troubles.
She quickly comforted Ling Na, saying, “Ling Na, don’t get too worked up. It seems like this Dai Dong has quite a few shady dealings. If we can uncover his secrets, we might find a breakthrough—not only to free ourselves from the club’s control but also to bring those bullies who have tormented us to justice.”
Ling Na wiped away the fresh tears at the corners of her eyes and gritted her teeth. “Right! He must pay for what he’s done! I was blind to have fallen for his tricks so badly. Ling Xue, what should we do next?”
After pondering for a moment, Ling Xue slowly replied, “Ling Na, since this Dai Dong is connected to the club, we should start by reaching out to Hei Hu and see if we can contact Dai Dong through him. But Hei Hu isn’t an easy person to deal with; we need to be cautious.”
Upon hearing they would have to deal with Hei Hu, fear crept onto Ling Na’s face. “That guy is ruthless; if we provoke him, it could lead to trouble.”
Ling Xue gently patted Ling Na’s shoulder to encourage her. “I know it’s dangerous, but right now we have no other options left. As long as we’re clever about it and don’t let him discover our true intentions… We can look for a suitable opportunity to probe him further. What do you think?”
Ling Na took a deep breath as if summoning all her courage and nodded in agreement. “Alright then, it seems there’s no other way. To escape this hellhole, we’ll have to give it our all.”
At that moment, Ling Xue summoned the system and asked, “System, what exactly can my Charm Skill do?”
The system responded: “That skill is very powerful; it can alter perceptions and control others’ actions.”
