As Ling Xue stood in front of the mirror, she carefully examined herself. She had chosen simple yet elegant attire, attempting to present a polished image for the challenges ahead. Inside the mall, she skillfully utilized her limited budget to purchase a few essential items, silently planning how to use these clothes to create a more suitable persona for herself.
At that moment, the system chimed in: "Host, there is a scoundrel nearby. It is advisable to approach and strategize."
A voice rang out, "Scoundrel, get lost!"
"I didn't mean to! I didn't know someone was inside!"
"Don't play innocent. Back at the other store, you were leering at me. When you approached, you deliberately bumped into my chest. Now you're pretending? You were peeking at me changing in the fitting room!"
The girl's voice was sharp and resolute, and all eyes instantly turned to the middle-aged man being accused.
Ling Xue observed the man, dressed head to toe in designer labels. Although his face bore an unseemly look and his watch indicated wealth, he certainly did not fit the mold of someone so sleazy. The young woman confronting him was slender and exuded an air of grace; she could indeed be described as fair and beautiful. From a distance, Ling Xue felt a twinge of attraction towards her as she assessed the man's interest in her, thinking he might also be a worthwhile target for her strategy.
"Let’s not escalate this. Miss, I believe this is truly just a misunderstanding." The man’s eyes flickered with surprise upon hearing Ling Xue's words, quickly replaced by a satisfied smile.
He turned to the young woman, his demeanor suddenly humble. Seeing this shift, her expression softened slightly, though her suspicion towards him remained intact. She furrowed her brow as she reconsidered the situation before her.
Perhaps feeling a bit impatient herself, she sighed and decided to let it go this time. "Fine, I’ll chalk it up to bad luck. Just be more careful next time; don’t let other girls misunderstand." With that, she walked away somewhat begrudgingly.
The man nodded slightly at Ling Xue in gratitude. Internally elated, Ling Xue realized that her intervention had not only skillfully defused the awkwardness but had also increased the man's interest in her.
Seeing Ling Xue's beauty, he proposed inviting her for a cup of coffee. Ling Xue smiled and accepted his invitation. Through their conversation, she learned that his name was Ke Yu and that he was a rather influential investor.
Ling Xue felt a spark of excitement as they chatted at the café; their conversation flowed effortlessly. She cleverly leveraged her feminine charm, embodying a delicate demeanor that appealed greatly to Ke Yu. He seemed genuinely impressed by both her intelligence and beauty, revealing his interest through their dialogue.
Ling Xue maintained just the right distance—neither overly enthusiastic nor coldly detached. After exchanging contact information with an unspoken understanding between them, she decided to check his feelings towards her; at that moment, Ke Yu's interest in her had reached impressive heights.
