The ground shook violently as countless buildings collapsed, the cries of the Easterners rising and falling like a mournful tide. Within the Wan Hun Fan, Dao Realm Demons thirsted for the flesh and blood of the living.
Monstrous beasts!
A warrior clad in a gray shirt swung a crescent-shaped blade of light, its sharp edge slicing through two Ao Yin demons. Just as he felt invigorated, mistakenly believing these monsters were merely superficial threats, the shattered flesh of the demons reassembled, resurrecting them on the spot as they roared and charged at him.
Death!
The warrior retreated while wielding his blade.
There was no end to them; he simply could not kill them all.
An endless tide of demons surged forth, attacking anyone in sight. The souls of the fallen were captured by the Crimson Indigo Vertical Eyes above, drawn into the malevolent gaze.
Zuo Ci had now divided the souls within Wan Hun Fan into two tiers: main souls and cannon fodder.
As their numbers grew, Zuo Ci began to focus on quality. The Dao Realm Yin Souls combined with Ao Yin and Dragon Knights became increasingly powerful, while those beneath the Dao Realm served as cannon fodder, thrown into the fray to fuel Yuan Sha Zhi Qi and sustain the Dao Realm's banner slaves.
This ensured that high-level combatants would continuously die and resurrect, an unending cycle.
Roar!
Oni Yama flapped its Feng Lei wings, seizing a bolt of lightning from the sky and hurling it down at the warrior.
Sizzle!
The warrior was instantly reduced to ashes.
Oni Yama was already a formidable force at Dao Summit level. After undergoing enhancements through Wan Hun Fan and the continuous boosts from Yin and Dragon Knights, it had become one of Zuo Ci's most powerful slaves—invincible beneath Tongjing.
Behind Oni Yama, Crow Tengu provided support, unleashing its Innate Divine Ability: Oni Devouring Technique. It absorbed all spells before spewing them out again, killing numerous Onmyoji in the process.
Aruya Douman watched as two Shikigami betrayed him, a cold smile creeping across his aged face. This scene should be preserved and sent to those fools in the Abe Family; this was their proud contract technique—the Shikigami were nothing but demons. These idiots would never understand.
There was no time to wait any longer.
Aruya Douman, though cold-blooded, could not stand idly by as the Higashiyama Clan was slaughtered. He formed a seal with his fingers, and beneath him, Yamata no Orochi let out a thunderous roar.
With a swift motion, a bright, sharp beam of white light erupted from the tail of Yamata no Orochi, slicing through the air with a whistling sound. As the white light dissipated, it revealed a slender bone sword. It was incredibly sharp, seemingly capable of shattering the void itself. In passing, it pierced through Oni Yama's chest.
The divine sword, Takamagahara!
The Takamagahara Sword, also known as the Kusanagi Sword or Tsumu-kari no Ōkuni, is one of the Japanese Three Sacred Treasures. The sword first appeared in mythology during the tale of Susanoo defeating the Yamata no Orochi. According to the Kojiki, upon hearing that Yamata no Orochi demanded human sacrifices each year, Susanoo learned of an old man who had lost seven daughters to the serpent and was left with only his youngest daughter. In exchange for her safety, Susanoo promised to slay the beast.
At that time, Susanoo had been banished from Takamagahara due to his violent nature and was wandering in Yamato. He instructed preparations for eight barrels of fine sake to lure Yamata no Orochi while waiting for the serpent to come and consume the girl.
When Yamata no Orochi arrived and saw the sake, it wasted no time in plunging its eight heads into the barrels to drink deeply until it became drunk and fell asleep. Seeing this opportunity, Susanoo emerged, drew his Tenkuken from his waist, and hacked the serpent into pieces. The blood that flowed from the massive body resembled a raging river.
As Susanoo prepared to sever the serpent's tail, he was startled to find that his revered sword Tenkuken had struck something hard and chipped at its edge. Upon inspecting the tail, he discovered an extraordinarily sharp sword hidden within. Since Yamata no Orochi's heads were usually covered by clouds, he named this sword Murakumo (the "Sword of Gathering Clouds").
Within the serpent's body, he found another blade which he named Takamagahara Sword and offered it to Amaterasu Omikami. Later on, during the reign of Jing Tian Huang, the Twelfth Emperor of Yamato, Takamagahara Sword was acquired by Yamato Takeru.
Upon reaching Suruga Province, Yamato Takeru was deceived while hunting deer on the plains; local warlords set fire to the grasslands and killed his horses to prevent his escape. Using Takamagahara Sword, he cleared a path through the grass.
During this time, he discovered that the Takamagahara Sword could control the direction of the wind, allowing him to escape from danger. Thus, he named the Takamagahara Sword the Kusanagi Sword.
