The street was alive with activity. Countless Onmyoji clad in Crimson Hunting Attire began to chant the Nine Character Mantra, casting their Fulu. The Fulu radiated a golden light, forming a barrier that bound some of the chaotic spirits of Heian-kyo in place. 0

Just as they breathed a sigh of relief and looked up, their expressions darkened. Fear flickered in their pupils as they gazed towards Yasukuni Shrine. A Grudge transformed into a beam of light that shot up into the clouds. 0

A tide of malevolent spirits surged towards them like a relentless wave, with no end in sight. 0

Some of the less resolute Onmyoji began to tremble; they had never seen so many Yuan Hun in their lives—nor would they ever again. What on earth was happening at Yasukuni Shrine? 0

"Shikigami, Rain Woman, go!" commanded a young man dressed in Golden Hunting Garb. He pinched a Fulu between his fingers, formed seals in front of him, and recited incantations. 0

As if responding to his call, a light drizzle began to fall under the clear sky of Heian-kyo. 0

Amidst the rain curtain, a beautiful woman appeared, wearing a white veil and Geta, gracefully navigating through the downpour with an oiled paper umbrella. Her features were striking; many Onmyoji who caught sight of her couldn't help but smile, and she would gently return their smiles. 0

However, there were also seasoned Onmyoji who, upon seeing her visage, displayed expressions of sheer terror. This was the Rain Woman! 0

Legend had it that her appearance heralded ominous rains, and any man who interacted with her would drown. 0

In Eastern Japan, there are many tales surrounding the legend of the Rain Woman. Some elders say that she is a benevolent deity. Whenever drought strikes, the Rain Woman brings rain to the people, possessing divine powers akin to the Holy Wushan Goddess. 0

Others claim that the Rain Woman will forever follow any man who smiles and shares an umbrella with her. This man will live in a damp environment, unable to withstand the moisture, eventually succumbing to it. However, it is said that salt can subdue her. 0

The legend of the Rain Woman first emerged in ancient Izu Peninsula folklore. One tale tells of a beautiful young woman whose husband went out to sea during a hurricane to fish but did not return. Braving the storm, she climbed onto the rocks to gaze out at the waves, only to be swept away by them. After her death, her grudge intertwined with the rain, transforming her into Yuan Ling. 0

Rumors spread that she could be seen in a state of melancholy and suffering, leaving behind a trail of dampness and puddles wherever she went. After having an encounter with a handsome man, she discovered he was not her husband and began a fruitless search for him. 0

Regardless of the circumstances, she is a formidable presence. The Rain Woman holds an Oiled Paper Umbrella as she seems to wander aimlessly. Wherever she passes, low-level practitioners of Onmyōdō collapse as if struck down. These practitioners stand on solid ground yet find their nostrils flowing with water, showing signs of drowning. 0

She gazes longingly into the distance, as if searching for her husband. Extending her thin hand, she gently grasps a wandering spirit, which melts away like liquid upon contact. 0

Not her husband! Her husband would not be so frail. 0

The Rain Woman's brow furrows, revealing a hint of malice. 0

The rain intensifies, pouring down like acid onto the ground, corroding the asphalt into egg-sized craters. Any spirit splashed by the rain dissolves instantly. 0

Critical Defense! 0

The Onmyōji who summoned the Rain Woman forms hand seals with urgency. 0

The barrier rose from the ground like a thin eggshell, isolating the pouring rain outside. 0

"Thank you, Abe-sama! Thank you, Abe-sama!" 0

The other Onmyoji displayed expressions of relief and excitement. 0

"Stay focused!" 0

The Onmyoji from the Abe Family wore a solemn expression. "Our enemies are powerful, and the Rain Woman may not be our strongest ally. From now on, let us work together to eliminate the evil spirits and save our people of the Great Eastern Empire. Help is on the way!" 0

"Yes!" The Onmyoji bowed their heads in agreement. 0

In the distance, countless Yuan Hun coalesced into a Crimson Indigo Vertical Eye. The Indigo Vertical Eye spun ominously in the sky. Crimson mist spread out, enveloping the entire Heian-kyo in an atmosphere of foreboding and despair. 0

Many Easterners believed it was the end of the world, silently praying before their household altars. 0
