Knock, knock, knock.
The Black Cripple knocked on Zuo Ci's door.
Creak.
The door opened, revealing Zuo Ci in a sharp black shirt, his expression calm. "What is it? Come to collect the rent?"
"How could I!"
The Black Cripple forced a smile that looked as if it had been squeezed out of him like toothpaste from a tube. "You are the master here now, and even I am just your servant. When you speak, wherever your finger points becomes a battlefield."
"Are you alright?" Zuo Ci frowned.
"I'm fine! What could possibly be wrong with me?" the Black Cripple replied, trying to sound relaxed.
"Oh!"
Zuo Ci gave him a strange look and then, with a snap, closed the door.
It felt like the scene of an ancient nobleman and his sycophant.
"Ancestor! I really have something urgent!" the Black Cripple said anxiously.
"What is it?"
The door opened again, and Zuo Ci sounded somewhat impatient. "I'll give you three minutes. If you can't say it..."
A single "heh" made the Black Cripple tense up again. He hurriedly said, "Someone has come to commission me; price is not an issue. It's about some matters concerning feng shui."
"I don't understand!" Zuo Ci shook his head.
This wasn't false modesty; he had trained in Deviant Arts and Shu Fa, both techniques of killing, never having learned anything about feng shui or divination.
"Killing Ground!"
Just as Zuo Ci was about to close the door again, the Black Cripple suddenly shouted, "You must have heard of Killing Ground, right?"
"Killing Ground?" Zuo Ci's expression changed slightly.
"One of the top ten forbidden places in feng shui."
The so-called Killing Master encompasses Killing Master Day, Shatter Master Time, and Killing Ground. During these times and in these places, a Feng Shui Master must not seek out dragons or locate graves, or they will face death.
Killing Ground is further divided into two types: killing and assassination. Killing refers to dying from an accident, sparing one from suffering, while assassination means dying from illness, tortured by pain until death.
Since ancient times, the first task of any Feng Shui Master has been to understand Luo Hou and the Killing Master. Luo Hou is a star in the sky; when the Luo Hou Star appears, it moves in opposition to the sun and moon. Therefore, a Feng Shui Master must not open their compass to locate graves; otherwise, they will provoke the Killing Master and face death.
Both Killing Master Day and Shatter Master Time follow certain patterns that are easy to avoid. The location of the Killing Master places great emphasis on shape. A Feng Shui Master can only rely on their own experience to judge; often, a Killing Ground resembles a Dragon Lair but with slight differences.
The lair of a True Dragon is where the True Dragon resides. In contrast, the Killing Master’s lair often resembles a Centipede Den, Snake Pit, or Jiao Xue. These three lairs are very similar to a Dragon Lair. A small misstep could lead to misjudging a Killing Master’s location as a Dragon Lair, resulting in death.
When a Feng Shui Master searches for dragons and locates graves, it is inevitable that there will be oversights. They may mistakenly identify a Killing Ground as a Dragon Lair because only those with true skills can pinpoint a Killing Ground. This is also how the term Killing Ground originated.
Even if it is a Killing Ground, if one does not accurately locate the grave, they will not be killed. In fact, Killing Grounds and Dragon Lairs are quite similar. For instance, a Snake Pit differs from a Dragon Lair not by lacking feet but by having none at all. A Centipede Den differs from a Dragon Lair by having many legs. A Jiao Xue differs from a Dragon Lair by being too short. The other distinctions are very limited.
Zuo Ci truly understood the ten most dangerous places in Feng Shui. Because the Sha Qi in a Killing Ground is heavy—especially in places where blood has been shed—the blood Sha Qi can almost take form. It serves as a site for cultivating Evil Practices and refining minor Gui Yao magical treasures.
However, there are six types of Killing Grounds; it remains uncertain which type has appeared at the client's location.
