Time flies by quickly, Baige and Hishen spent the day exploring various places on the island, and in the evening, they enjoyed the cool breeze and joined a lively bonfire party. Exhausted, Baige closed his eyes and drifted into dreamland.
Today she just can't fall asleep.
This is the last day of her seven-day journey. During the day, while playing outside, she looked at the sunny smile of Hishen, and Baige felt an indescribable feeling in her heart.
The sky turned dark as night fell by the sea, and the deep blue night sky finally made her unable to bear the frustration in her heart. She quietly slipped up to the attic and cautiously knocked on Hishen's door.
After a silent pause of two seconds, Hishen opened the door. He took a deep breath, then stepped back to make way for her, saying, "Come in."
The sea breeze blew the palm tree outside the window, making a rustling sound that entered the ears of the two people.
"The wind is so strong outside today. The boat might not be able to sail tomorrow. You might not be able to leave tomorrow..."
Baige drooped his head and hummed in a gloomy manner.
On a hot and stuffy night by the seaside, the air was filled with the sadness of parting. Baige and Hishen sat on the bed, silent and exchanging glances.
"If the weather is good tomorrow, then I will leave. When school starts, you can come and visit me on Sunday."
Hishen lowered his head and replied as if he didn't care: "Sure, you can make plans with me then. We can go shopping together. But if you have a boyfriend by then, I definitely won't look for you. After all, a beautiful girl like you will always have endless charm..."
Baige was listening to Hishen chattering on the side, while staring blankly at the starry sky outside the window, as if it were their first encounter. The night sky by the sea was deep blue, making the stars appear even brighter. The evening breeze blew through the attic window, causing her to shiver involuntarily.
"Baige."
"I don't know how to talk to you." Baige looked at Hishen in confusion. He lowered his head, his bangs covering his eyes, hiding any expression.
The room fell into silence.
"Do you not want to let me go? Aren't you the self-proclaimed tough guy of the island?"
Hishen cleared his throat, paused for a moment, then suddenly turned his head to the side and said softly:
"Baige, I want to tell you that even though we haven't known each other for long, I feel like it's been a long time already..."
"Known! So you have a crush on me!"
Baige As soon as the words fell, I looked up and met Hishen's astonished eyes.
"My goodness!"
Hishen neither admitted nor denied, as if the person who saw through his thoughts was not him. He bit his lip and smiled, finally summoning up the courage.
"Baige, can you guess what I was praying for in Mazu Temple at that time?"
Hishen chuckled softly, brushed her nose, and indulgently said, "I hope we can be together every day."
Baige stared at him, nervously clenched her hands, then suddenly let go and said to the boy, "Let's not leave tomorrow. Let's put on raincoats now and go splash in the water!"
The moonlight is hazy, with curved eyebrows and eyes filled with love for each other. The fishing boat gently sways, its oars following the breeze, skimming the water's surface. The rippling water creates circles of light, drifting towards the distance.
