The ground suddenly cracked open, and a massive tremor caused the remnants of the area to collapse. Lin Xi raised her gun in alert and shouted, "How can there still be something underground? The explosion just now already destroyed this core area!"
"The Underflow Plan has never been simple!" Director Zhao commanded swiftly. "Everyone, evacuate immediately! Do not linger in the open area!"
"Wait!" Chen Rui scanned the underground source of the tremor with a tactical detector, his expression changing drastically. "This isn't just a mechanical device! This is a fully biological weapon!"
"A biological weapon?" Zhou Zheng's face turned pale. "Are you saying this thing has living components?"
"Not just living components!" Chen Rui gritted his teeth. "It's a fusion of machinery and biology! I just detected clear signs of life during the scan!"
Before he could finish speaking, a low, eerie roar echoed from underground, followed by the ground completely shattering. A gigantic monster slowly rose from the deep pit.
It stood nearly ten meters tall, with a half-mechanical shell covering muscle-like tissue. Its limbs were as robust as cast iron, and its head featured a round blue optical sensor that emitted a piercing buzzing sound. Most alarming was the flickering red Energy Core embedded in its chest, surrounded by several tentacle-like appendages that resembled some kind of defensive system.
"What on earth is that?" Lin Xi gasped, quickly retreating to maintain distance.
"This is an undercurrent-type killing weapon," Director Zhao said coldly, his gaze sharp. "I had heard of a similar project codenamed Abyss Hunter. I never expected they actually created it."
"Abyss Hunter?" Chen Rui frowned. "What is its core? Where are its weaknesses?"
Director Zhao shook his head. "Information is limited; all I know is that it's an auto-adaptive weapon capable of adjusting its strategies in real-time based on the combat environment. As for weaknesses, I can only tell you that it will not expose them easily."
The Abyss Hunter's optical sensor swept over the surroundings and quickly locked onto their positions. Without any warning, its chest core suddenly brightened, and a high-energy particle beam shot out, targeting Lin Xi's location!
"Get out of the way!" Chen Rui shouted.
Lin Xi rolled to the side just in time to evade the particle beam, but the iron frame behind her was instantly vaporized, leaving no trace behind.
Its attack power far exceeds that of an ordinary Mechanical Warrior! Lin Xi panted, saying, "We can't possibly confront it head-on!"
"Zhou Zheng, create distance and suppress its sensors with your sniper rifle; Chen Rui, try to disrupt its core control system; Lin Xi, be ready to provide support!" Director Zhao quickly issued commands. "We must find its weakness; otherwise, we will all die here today!"
"Understood!" The three responded in unison.
The battle erupted in an instant.
Lin Xi fired first, her bullets accurately striking the Abyss Hunter's chest core but were blocked by its surrounding tentacle defense system. The tentacles unfurled rapidly like a wall of steel, firmly protecting the Energy Core.
"The tentacle defense system is too strong!" Lin Xi gritted her teeth. "Ordinary weapons can't break through at all!"
Seizing the opportunity while the Abyss Hunter was distracted, Zhou Zheng quickly found a high vantage point and set up his sniper rifle. He aimed at the monster's optical sensor and decisively pulled the trigger. However, at the moment the bullet hit its target, the monster's sensor automatically split into countless smaller sensors that dispersed the attack.
"It can even self-repair its defense system!" Zhou Zheng exclaimed in shock. "What kind of technology is this?!"
"Don't worry about what it is!" Director Zhao said sternly. "Continue suppressing it! Chen Rui, what's your status?"
As Chen Rui operated the terminal, he responded, "The core signal of the Abyss Hunter is incredibly complex; I need more time!"
The Abyss Hunter, sensing that several individuals were attempting to find its weaknesses, suddenly changed its attack strategy. It leaped into the air and landed heavily on the ground, creating a powerful shockwave that sent everything around it flying.
"Ah!" Lin Xi was knocked back a few steps, nearly falling to the ground.
Seizing the opportunity, the Abyss Hunter swung its massive mechanical arm towards Lin Xi with tremendous force. In a split second, Chen Rui rushed forward and threw a high-explosive grenade into its chest cavity, temporarily halting its movements.
