In mid-air, Hei Jiao looked down at Lu Pan and remarked, "Your strength doesn't seem that impressive."
Lu Pan's already pale face turned even whiter, his eyes filled with horror. "Y-Your strength..."
Hei Jiao's form shimmered as he transformed back into his human shape, landing in front of Lu Pan.
Struggling to rise, Lu Pan cast a wary glance at Hei Jiao. This level of power was beyond his capability to handle. Even if he resorted to secret techniques, he doubted he could match him.
"You managed to survive the Heavenly Tribulation," Hei Jiao said with a faint smile.
Lu Pan's pupils constricted. "You were able to transcend the tribulation?"
"It wasn't that difficult. The thunder tribulation wasn't particularly powerful," Hei Jiao replied casually.
Lu Pan's eyes widened in disbelief. "Not powerful? What do you know? In this world, no one controls the thunder tribulation. Whenever someone attempts to transcend, the strongest thunder tribulation will descend. It's impossible to survive it."
He shot a strange look at Hei Jiao, wondering how this guy had managed to survive the tribulation.
Hei Jiao paused, realizing the situation. No wonder so many people were afraid to face the thunder tribulation. However, he didn't feel that it was particularly formidable; it simply couldn't break through his defenses.
Shaking his head, he attributed it to the uniqueness of his own techniques.
Then he turned to Lu Pan and Lu Da Ren. "Do you think we can cooperate?"
Lu Pan squinted, deep in thought. If he refused, it seemed likely that Hei Jiao would eliminate him.
Hei Jiao wasn't in a hurry; he believed Lu Pan would make a wise choice.
After a long moment, Lu Pan suddenly looked up and slowly said, "Difu is not solely my decision. Are you willing to meet Cui Pan with me?"
Hei Jiao raised an eyebrow. "What’s there to be afraid of? Let’s go."
By this time, Lu Pan's injuries had mostly healed; Hei Jiao hadn't used excessive force against him.
Lu Pan disregarded the scholar for now and reached out to summon the Judge's Pen, making a feeble attempt at repair.
With a stroke of the pen in his hand, a black portal materialized before them.
Lu Pan gestured for Hei Jiao to follow him and stepped inside. Hei Jiao's eyes flickered, but without hesitation, he followed closely behind.
As they entered, Hei Jiao found himself standing before a massive city gate, where the ominous words "Ghost Gate" were inscribed in dark characters. Numerous Yin Bing Gui Zu stood at the entrance, and upon seeing Lu Pan, their eyes filled with awe.
Lu Pan continued walking ahead, with Hei Jiao trailing behind. He observed his surroundings with great interest; the air was thick with a chilling aura, and many ghosts were lined up in chains, guarded by the Yin Bing.
Lu Pan noted that they were doing quite well; at least the Difu was still operational. It seemed that the presence of the living had caught the attention of the ghosts, who all turned to stare at Hei Jiao. A single glance from him sent them nearly into a panic, as they hurriedly lowered their heads in fear.
Lu Pan couldn't help but say, "Don't scare them like that. It would be troublesome if they lost their souls."
Hei Jiao replied with a hint of exasperation, "I only looked at them."
Shaking his head, Lu Pan quickened his pace; it was better to leave this place as soon as possible.
Before them loomed the Judge's Hall, an imposing and grand structure. "Since there’s no one left in Difu, why don’t you all move to Yama's Hall?" Hei Jiao asked curiously.
Lu Pan turned to glance at him and said, "After Yan Jun and the others left, Yama's Hall completely collapsed. You don’t think it was just a simple Yama's Hall, do you?"
Hei Jiao paused in surprise, narrowing his eyes as he looked at Lu Pan. "So you're saying your Judge's Hall isn't that simple either?"
