Qin Feng squinted his eyes and then waved his hand.
Guan Mama glanced at Qin Feng before turning around and disappearing.
Qin Feng smiled; that was good, as long as Zhuangyuan was given to him. He had no intention of causing trouble for the Emperor, which suited him just fine.
He pondered whether this time he could transform into Jiao Long. He had a feeling that after transforming into Jiao Long this time, there might be significant changes. This was also why he was determined to participate in the Keju examination.
The Keju was the legitimate path, and the Destiny Energy gained from it was the purest. Otherwise, why would those officials who entered the government through the Keju look down on those who obtained their positions through other means? Those people were also aware that they were one rank lower than those who entered through the Keju. This was all part of an unspoken rule.
At the Gongyuan, the examiners had finished reviewing the Exam Papers and were about to write their names on them. When they opened the first Exam Paper and saw the name, all the examiners were stunned, turning in unison to look at one another. The examiner was also taken aback; it was actually him—he had come in first place.
"My lord, what should we do now?" several examiners hesitated.
The examiner's eyes flickered; of course, they should write it as it was. After all, His Majesty instructed them to ensure this person made the list, and this was his true achievement. There was no need for any unnecessary actions.
"What you say makes sense," the examiners agreed after thinking it over.
Thus, Qin Feng's name was the first to be written down. The examiner deeply etched this name in his memory; someone who could attract His Majesty's attention was certainly not an ordinary person.
At Qin Mansion, Qin Feng felt that something was off and slowly sat up, glancing around.
He looked at Ning Caichen beside Xiao Die and Zhu Fang beside Zhu Ling, finally realizing what was wrong. Nie Xiaoqian and Qin Wan'er were unexpectedly not by his side.
"Young Master," Qin suddenly spoke up.
"Old Fox" appeared out of nowhere, bowing respectfully.
"What about Nie Xiaoqian and my sister?" Qin Feng asked.
"Old Fox" quickly replied, "The two young ladies left early this morning."
Seeing Qin Feng frown, he hurriedly added, "Rest assured, Young Master. I have sent someone to follow them."
Qin Feng stood up. "Take me to see them."
Old Fox nodded immediately.
Leading the way, Old Fox guided Qin Feng out of the gates of the Qin Mansion. This was his first time leaving the estate since the Provincial Examination.
Old Fox cautiously led the way while Qin Feng followed closely behind. He surveyed his surroundings, shaking his head slightly; although they were in the capital, the common folk did not seem to live well. There were just a few more people around, but everything else paled in comparison to Qingshan Mansion.
As they ventured further into the outskirts, Qin Feng's brows furrowed. He refrained from using his spiritual sense to avoid alarming anyone. After all, his own cultivation was still at the Golden Core Realm.
What could Nie Xiaoqian and her sister be doing here?
As they turned down an alley, five or six rough-looking individuals suddenly jumped out, their faces full of swagger—clearly local ruffians.
"Haha, scholars! Dressed quite nicely, aren't you? Hand over your silver, and we'll let you go," one of them chuckled lightly.
Qin Feng glanced at them and said to Old Fox, "Kill them."
A flash of red light sparked in Old Fox's eyes as he lunged forward. He hardly resembled an old man; with swift movements, he created a hole in each of their chests, leaving them sprawled on the ground.
Their eyes widened in shock; they had never imagined that a mere scholar and an old servant could bring about their demise.
