"Ah, Your Highness, I have left, and that old lady was startled."
The Eldest Prince sneered, "Rest assured, I am fine. Even if he wants to kill me, the old fellows in the palace won't agree to it."
He turned to look at the old lady. "Guan Mama, you should know that if Feng Er were to come out, I wouldn't know what I might do."
The old lady's heart trembled; she understood that Qin Feng was the Eldest Prince's Achilles' heel. If it weren't for her inability to leave the capital, she would have likely gone to see Qin Feng by now.
"Yes, Your Highness, I will definitely protect the young master," the old lady could only nod in agreement.
The Eldest Prince let out a light sigh. "Well, let's take it slow. I believe Feng Er will surely recognize me."
Above Zhang Gong Fu, the Black Python's eyes flickered and then vanished.
In the pavilion, Qin Feng murmured to himself that it seemed the Eldest Prince was indeed telling the truth. He didn't take Guan Mama's protection seriously.
Once he achieved his Golden List and transformed the Black Python into a Jiao Long, he could easily obliterate the Yuan Shen Realm.
His gaze shifted toward the palace, revealing a hint of apprehension in his eyes. The Black Python sensed the terrifying aura emanating from there; the Da Li Royal Family was not so simple.
But then again, if they didn't possess the strength to suppress the world, how could Da Li possibly establish a nation?
The next day, Nie Rong returned with a grave expression and immediately called for Qin Feng.
Nie Rong looked at Qin Feng and relaxed slightly as he said, "You’re here. Nothing happened last night, right?"
Qin Feng's eyes flickered; it seemed Nie Rong was still worried about the Eldest Prince. He suddenly felt a bit mischievous—if Nie Rong knew about his relationship with the Eldest Prince, he wondered what expression he would have.
"Nope, we don't know anyone in the capital," Qin Feng replied with a smile as he sat down.
"That's good," Nie Rong sighed in relief. He was unsure why there had been no movement from the Eldest Prince; perhaps that was a good sign.
"I went to see His Majesty; he appointed me as Jingzhaoyin." Nie Rong's expression grew serious.
"Congratulations, Nie Shu, on your promotion! That's quite a significant position," Qin Feng said with a smile and cupped his hands in respect.
Nie Rong frowned as he looked at Qin Feng. "Do you really think this is a good thing?"
Qin Feng continued to smile at Nie Shu, "Can you refuse now?"
"Uh, of course not. Refusing would be defying orders, and that could lead to execution." Nie Rong sighed, understanding Qin Feng's meaning.
Curiously, Qin Feng asked Nie Shu, "Is this Jingzhaoyin really that difficult to manage?"
Nie Shu helplessly replied, "It used to be manageable, but now it's different. I spent the entire night at the Yamen. I didn't realize how chaotic things had become until I saw it for myself."
His eyes were filled with anger as he spoke. The capital was already in turmoil, with at least a thousand people missing, and no one knew where they had gone. Whenever the factions of the three princes met, they would immediately resort to violence, and it was the common people who suffered the consequences.
The Emperor was also unpredictable; many loyal ministers had been imprisoned, especially the Chief Assistant Fu Daren, who had even been thrown into a death cell. His eyes reddened; Fu Daren was his mentor.
Qin Feng's gaze flickered as he hadn't anticipated such chaos in the capital. "I feel that this Jingzhaoyin position won't last long before it meets a similar fate."
Suddenly raising his head, he said to Xian Zhi, "You might as well give up on the Provincial Examination and take Qian Er away."
Qin Feng was taken aback. "How can that be? I'm waiting for my Destiny Energy in the Provincial Examination."
"Nie Shu, I must participate in the Provincial Examination. Perhaps things aren't as bad as you think?" He suggested, "Why don't you talk to Qi Gong first?"
