Old Fox was taken aback. "Huang Gongzi, what is this?" he asked, confusion etched on his face.
Huang Xu thought he recognized him. "Isn't he the young master? Why not just come in boldly? What’s with this attire in the middle of the night?"
"Uh, well, Hu Butler, there are some special reasons. Could we meet Brother Qin?" Huang Xu quickly explained.
Old Fox furrowed his brow, hesitating for a moment. His ears twitched as he cut off Qin Feng's transmission.
"Alright then, follow me." He waved his hand, and the young women turned and vanished into the darkness.
Another man in black watched the disappearing figures of the young women, his eyes flickering with uncertainty about their intentions.
"Thank you, Hu Butler," Huang Xu said happily.
The two arrived at a pavilion and immediately spotted Qin Feng sitting there.
Old Fox led them in and quickly left.
Qin Feng looked at Huang Xu and said, "If you wanted to see me, you could have come through the front door."
Huang Xu's face flushed. "Brother Qin, you don’t understand. We’ve been watched closely and had no choice but to do this."
Qin Feng nodded, his gaze shifting to the man in black who had been scrutinizing him.
"Seventh Princess," he said in a flat tone.
The man in black pulled aside a dark cloth, revealing a beautiful face. "So you are Qin Feng. Xiao Ba has praised you to the heavens."
Qin Feng smiled slightly. "That’s just Huang Xiong’s flattery."
The Seventh Princess frowned as she looked at Qin Feng. "He’s still just a boy; how impressive can he be? If I didn’t know about his close ties with Nie Rong, I wouldn’t have bothered to come."
"Knowing our identity, yet you don’t kneel?" The Seventh Princess raised her head proudly.
Qin Feng glanced at her in surprise. She adapted quickly. "And why should I kneel? Can you kill me?"
The Seventh Princess was taken aback, anger flashing across her face.
Huang Xu hurriedly interjected, "Seventh Sister, Brother Qin is my friend; let’s skip the formalities."
"Isn’t it said that the Seventh Princess is humble and close to the common people? It seems those rumors aren’t trustworthy," Qin Feng remarked with a hint of sarcasm.
The Seventh Princess retracted her anger, her demeanor calm and composed, as if she were anything but ordinary.
"Please don't take offense; I was merely testing the waters," Qin Gongzi said. "Xiao Ba is too honest, and I worry he might be deceived." The Seventh Princess smiled at Qin Feng.
Qin Feng was taken aback; what a performer! The speed at which she changed her expression was astonishing.
Huang Xu let out a sigh of relief. He had wondered why the Seventh Sister seemed displeased with Qin Feng's presence after she arrived.
"Are you not going to invite us to sit?" Qin Gongzi asked with a smile.
The Seventh Princess grinned back, "This is hardly proper hospitality."
Qin Feng extended his hand, gesturing for them to take a seat. There were already places available in the pavilion.
"Thank you," the Seventh Princess said cheerfully as she sat down.
Huang Xu settled beside her like a little follower.
"Do you know what position Nie Da Ren holds?" the Seventh Princess asked directly.
Qin Feng shook his head, genuinely unaware, and looked at the Seventh Princess.
"The Jingzhaoyin," she replied gravely. "He is in charge of managing the entire capital."
Qin Feng's brow furrowed instantly; that was no enviable position. The capital was rife with nobles—who could he possibly control? Offending a noble could easily lead to imprisonment.
Seeing Qin Feng's expression, the Seventh Princess smiled slightly. "Now you understand the stakes involved."
Qin Feng looked at her, realizing this was the Emperor's decree—no one could oppose it, could they?
The Seventh Princess quickly added, "While we cannot prevent it, if you support me, I can ensure his safety."
