Ning Caichen glanced at the female ghost, a determined look in his eyes as he nodded. "Brother Qin, I have made my decision."
Qin Feng nodded slightly and suddenly reached out, the small yellow jar beside the female ghost appearing in his hand. The ghost was startled; this was her vessel, the essence of her being. The Tree Demon controlled her through this urn. Thinking of Qin Feng's terrifying power, she dared not speak, her eyes filled with worry.
Then, Qin Feng extended his other hand and beckoned. With a whoosh, a scroll from the bookcase behind Ning Caichen flew out and landed in Qin Feng's grasp.
Seeing the scroll, Ning Caichen's expression changed, and his face turned red. "Uh, Brother Qin, this is just a casual doodle; there's no need to look at it," he said anxiously.
Qin Feng gave him a knowing smile and tossed the scroll into the air, where it unfurled and hovered open.
"Wow!" Nie Xiaoqian and the others exclaimed in surprise, glancing between the scroll and the female ghost. What was depicted on the scroll if not the ghost herself?
Zhu Fang marveled, "Ning Brother, your painting skills have improved! Truly remarkable!"
Ning Caichen felt even more embarrassed. "Brother Qin, please give it back to me; there's nothing worth seeing."
Qin Feng chuckled and threw the jar toward the scroll. The female ghost gasped in alarm.
A thread of mysterious light shot from Qin Feng's fingertip and vanished into the scroll in an instant. The scroll suddenly emitted a dark glow before absorbing the jar.
Then, with a startled cry, the female ghost was pulled uncontrollably toward the scroll and vanished within it.
Ning Caichen was left dumbfounded. "Brother Qin, where is Xiao Die?"
Qin Feng summoned the scroll back into his hands and offered it to Ning Caichen. "From now on, she can reside within this painting; it will be like her home. She can come out whenever she wishes. However, you must protect this scroll; if someone takes it from you, it will belong to them."
Ning Caichen was momentarily stunned but then filled with joy as he accepted it. "Is this really true?" He understood that this would be more discreet and convenient.
With a flash of black light from the scroll, the female ghost reappeared beside Ning Caichen, her face full of gratitude as she looked at Qin Feng. "Thank you for your assistance."
Ning Caichen saw Xiao Die appear again and realized that Qin Feng was telling the truth. He hurriedly said, "Brother Qin, I will remember your kindness and repay you in the future."
Qin Feng waved his hand dismissively, "Ning Brother, are you coming with us now?"
"Of course I'm coming with you." With that, he plopped down onto the Ox Cart, which had been his spot before.
The female ghost returned to the painting, and Ning Caichen carefully tucked the scroll into his embrace.
Nie Rong observed all of this silently. Qin Feng's strength exceeded his expectations, and it seemed he had some connection with Black Mountain. He could no longer regard Qin Feng as an ordinary youth. Seeing him help Ning Caichen secure the female ghost didn't bother him; after all, who among the nobles in the capital didn’t have a Demon Pet? Even female ghosts served as maids, though most people were unaware of it. This was also why he had kept silent.
However, Qin Feng was becoming increasingly inscrutable to him. He couldn't decide whether marrying his daughter to him was a good or bad idea.
As they set off again, the horse-drawn carriage led the way while the Ox Cart followed behind at a leisurely pace.
In Black Mountain, Qin Feng sat at the head of the table while a somewhat anxious Tree Demon stood below him. She couldn't understand why he hadn’t taken Nie Xiaoqian for himself but instead had sent his own female ghost away.
