They gathered together, with Qin Wan'er sitting beside Qin Feng, smiling as she watched the lively scene. It had been a long time since things had been this bustling.
Zhou Ziling and the others were also delighted; it was good that everyone was well. Unexpectedly, Brother Qin had kept a low profile and quietly built such a large family business. Zhu Fang chuckled as he spoke.
Huang Xu nodded repeatedly, "Yes, this time it's truly a double blessing. Brother Qin has established a family business while we have nothing."
Qin Feng smiled and raised his cup, drinking heartily with them.
Ning Caichen excitedly said, "By the way, Zhou, do you have time? Why don't we go to Dafeng Mountain for a spring outing?"
Qin Feng shook his head; Ning Caichen really couldn't forget about Dafeng Mountain.
"Ha ha, I almost forgot! I heard that the demons at Dafeng Mountain have been eradicated, and that temple has been rebuilt. It would be nice to go take a look," Zhou Ziling recalled with a smile.
"Yes, I've heard about it too. I wonder if it was Zhen Mo Si who did it; they really accomplished something great," Huang Xu nodded in agreement.
"Then it's settled!" Ning Caichen said excitedly.
"Uh, I won't be going." Suddenly, Zhu Fang hesitated before speaking.
"Hmm?" Everyone looked at Zhu Fang in confusion. Zhou Ziling suddenly thought of something and said solemnly, "Zhu Xiong, is your situation still unresolved?"
Zhu Fang's eyes reddened as he took a deep gulp of wine. "Actually, tonight is also my farewell to you all. I need to rush back early tomorrow morning."
Zhou Ziling frowned and asked, "Is Fu Zun unwilling to help?"
Zhu Fang shook his head helplessly. "Fu Zun said he has no choice; he can't leave Qingshan Mansion. Zhenmo Jiang took the Tiger King's body to the capital, and there's nothing he can do."
Huang Xu cursed angrily, "Damn demons."
The little fox and Old Fox flinched; it felt like they were being cursed at.
Old Fox cautiously glanced at Qin Feng; this had nothing to do with him.
Ning Caichen hurriedly asked, "Zhu Xiong, what exactly happened? Just tell us; maybe we can help!"
Zhu Fang took a swig from the wine jug, feeling the bitterness wash over him. It was futile; he knew that returning home would mean death, but not going back would leave him restless for a lifetime.
"Let me speak," Zhou Ziling sighed.
Earlier that afternoon, Zhu Xiong had received a letter from home, stating that his sister had been taken to be a sacrificial maiden for the river god.
"Hmph, what river god? It's nothing but a man-eating monster," Zhu Fang's eyes grew redder with anger and sorrow. He felt an overwhelming sense of regret for not bringing his sister to Fu Cheng.
Ning Caichen immediately grew anxious. "What are we waiting for? Saving someone is like putting out a fire; we must act now!"
Seeing his urgency, Zhu Fang felt touched but shook his head. "I can go back alone. There are monsters lurking at night; I can only wait until dawn to return."
Ning Caichen turned to Qin Feng, his expression pleading. "You will help, right?" He had witnessed Qin Feng in action before; with his Flying Sword technique, he had slain a monster with a single strike.
Not to mention that they would be traveling at night while others were sleeping in the wilderness on an ox cart. Thus, Ning Caichen thought of Qin Feng first.
Qin Feng nodded in response and then asked Zhu Fang, "Is your home far from here?"
Zhu Fang, feeling hopeless yet determined, took another sip of wine. "Not far—just over ten miles. If I borrow a horse from Fu Zun, I should be able to make it in time. It all depends on luck now; if I can rescue my sister before the monsters appear and bring her back to Fu Cheng, we might just make it."
