Fu Zun's expression was somewhat grim. His advisor glanced at him, wondering if it was wise to refuse the Zhenbei Fu Heir like that.
Fu Zun sighed, "Do you think I want to offend him? But he wants to tamper with the Provincial Examination, and I can't agree to that."
After a pause, he lowered his voice, "Do you believe that if I dare to agree, I would have to board the Zhenbei Wangfu's ship?"
The advisor was taken aback, surprised that Fu Zun had become so astute; he hadn't even considered that angle himself.
Fu Zun suddenly narrowed his eyes at the advisor. "You haven't been bribed by him, have you?"
The advisor jumped in shock and hurriedly replied, "My lord, absolutely not! Do you not trust me?"
Fu Zun stared at him for a while, making the advisor break out in a cold sweat.
"It better be so. Some things are not worth taking; they could cost you your life," Fu Zun said quietly.
The advisor wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, relieved that he had been cautious enough to send away the gift-bearer. At that time, he felt that Seizi's gesture of sending gifts was certainly not simple; he didn't have the confidence to handle it and dared not accept.
Just then, someone came in to report that Zhou Ziling and the others were requesting an audience.
Fu Zun found it strange. Weren't they supposed to be studying behind closed doors? Why would they come looking for him?
"Come in," Fu Zun said.
Soon, the three entered. "My lord, it seems we have stirred up trouble," Zhou Ziling immediately said.
Fu Zun was startled. "What happened?"
The three recounted the incident at the inn.
Fu Zun breathed a sigh of relief and waved his hand. "This is a minor issue. You all go back to your studies; no one can take away your qualifications for the Provincial Examination."
The three felt a surge of joy. Zhou Ziling hesitated for a moment but still clasped his hands and said, "My lord, there are still two classmates who have been implicated because of us."
Fu Zun's eyes flickered as he replied, "Alright, I understand. It's nothing serious; Seizi won't go after you for such a trivial matter."
"Thank you, my lord," the three expressed their gratitude as they left.
Once they were gone, the advisor could no longer hold back. "My lord, do you not know Seizi's character? Now that we've refused him, he definitely won't let it go easily. You can't afford to completely offend him, can you?"
Fu Zun sighed again. The three students were certainly worth protecting; as for the other two, they could only be considered unfortunate.
The advisor paused and nodded. "That does seem feasible; it gives Seizi a way out."
In the inn, Qin Feng and Ning Caichen looked at the person who had come to find them with confusion, as they did not recognize him at all. The Advisor couldn't help but glance at Qin Feng again; he was so young and handsome. It wouldn’t matter much if he missed this Provincial Examination and had to wait another three years.
"You must be Qin Feng and Ning Caichen," the Advisor said casually.
Qin Feng frowned slightly and replied indifferently, "Yes, that's us. What do you want?"
The Advisor slowly stated, "I am an Advisor of Fu Zun, here to inform you to pack your things and leave."
Ning Caichen was taken aback and asked in confusion, "Leave? No, we will go after the Provincial Examination."
A cold light flashed in Qin Feng's eyes. "Is Seizi really planning to pursue this matter?"
The Advisor was startled and carefully examined Qin Feng before helplessly saying, "Yes, Seizi personally sought out Fu Zun. Fu Zun couldn’t do anything but save those three people; as for you two, he didn’t mention you."
Ning Caichen suddenly became furious. "How can it be like this? Just because he is Seizi, does he have the right to interfere in the court's Keju matters?"
The Advisor was taken aback and hurriedly glanced around; fortunately, they were still in a room. "This is unavoidable. If you don’t leave, you might lose your lives," he quickly reminded them.
"Does he dare to kill?" Ning Caichen looked at the Advisor in disbelief.
The Advisor gave Ning Caichen a strange look; this guy was surprisingly naive—was he a bookworm?
Qin Feng suddenly spoke up, "You can go now; we understand."
The Advisor looked at Qin Feng for a moment, then quietly said, "You’d better leave now while Seizi is still at the yamen. Escape quickly."
Qin Feng simply smiled and nodded.
Without saying anything more, the Advisor turned and left.
Ning Caichen anxiously looked at Qin Feng. "Brother Qin, are you really going to leave?"
Qin Feng coldly smiled. "How could that be? You stay at the inn; I will handle this."
"What are you going to do? Shouldn’t we find Fu Zun?" Ning Caichen asked in surprise.
Qin Feng shook his head. "It’s useless to find him. I have my own ways; you don’t need to worry about it."
With that, he turned and went to his room.
Ning Caichen watched Qin Feng's retreating figure with some concern, unsure of what method Qin Feng had in mind.
He let out a reluctant sigh and returned to his room, feeling utterly helpless.
That night, Qin Feng sat on his bed and released Black Snake. He had no intention of showing himself; Black Snake flew straight towards Dafeng Mountain.
At Dafeng Mountain, despite the heavy defenses outside the cave where Chang Gui and two Ghost Kings stood guard, Tiger King still felt a sense of unease. Suddenly, a loud roar echoed from outside, "Who are you, snake demon? Get lost!"
Tiger King’s heart sank, and his expression changed drastically when he realized that Chang Gui's presence had vanished, meaning Chang Gui was dead. He was startled; it had happened so quickly. Without hesitation, he dashed towards the exit.
As he emerged from the cave, he was met with a horrifying sight: the two demon kings outside had revealed their true forms—one was a bear demon, and the other a massive Giant Toad. Facing them was a giant python measuring dozens of meters long; its sheer size was intimidating.
The most terrifying part was that the python's tail was wrapped around the Giant Toad while its mouth was devouring the bear demon. Under the night sky, witnessing such a gruesome act by a giant python could send chills down anyone's spine.
Though Tiger King wasn’t paralyzed by fear, he was left speechless; even he knew it wouldn't be easy to deal with two demon kings like this. With a gulp, Black Snake swallowed the black bear whole and coldly fixed its gaze on Tiger King, lifting its tail to forcefully shove the Giant Toad into its mouth.
"Ah! No! Help me! I don’t want to die!" The Giant Toad cried out in despair.
But Tiger King didn’t dare to move; he could sense a terrifying killing intent enveloping him. It felt as if any movement would lead to his demise.
With another gulp, the Giant Toad joined the black bear in Black Snake’s belly. "You can't kill me! I’m related to Great Demon King!" Tiger King's voice trembled as he pleaded.
A strange glint flashed in Black Snake’s eyes; it turned out that there were still Great Demons at the Yuan Shen Stage in the Ten Thousand Great Mountains. However, that made sense—if there weren’t any Great Demon Kings around, Tiger King wouldn’t dare to act so brazenly outside Fu Cheng.
"Do one thing for me, and I won’t kill you," Black Snake suddenly spoke coldly.
Tiger King was taken aback but quickly nodded in agreement. "Yes, yes! No problem!"
