"The three mysterious men have appeared near the factory again," Yan Qing murmured, her voice laced with seriousness.
At that moment, Jiang Ming finished reading the message. The two exchanged a glance, and in that instant, their eyes seemed to convey a thousand unspoken words, thoughts swirling like turbulent waves.
Elsewhere, Jiang Wenyu sat in front of her computer, her fingers flying over the keyboard. Over time, she had become increasingly adept at using the computer, much like a skilled pianist playing a beloved piece.
As she deftly maneuvered the mouse, she relayed Lin Ran's instructions to the other three: "You finally made it. I've sent the surveillance video to your message boxes. You can check the locations first and set up. Each of you find a vantage point; we need to capture them all and interrogate them about why they orchestrated this terrorist attack."
Jiang Wenyu's gaze was focused and resolute, as if she were trying to see through the computer screen.
Drui Feng lounged in his chair, holding a can of soda and sipping it lazily. He glanced at his slightly protruding belly and muttered, "I really am getting chubby." His face was filled with resignation.
Despite his words, the thought of work deflated him like a punctured balloon, and he slumped back at the computer to begin his tasks.
Without hesitation, Yan Qing quickly opened her chat window after hearing Jiang Wenyu's words.
The video that popped up on the screen showed a location in the eastern area of the factory where they had seen Jiang Ming during their video call that day.
The video quality was somewhat grainy, resembling a painting dampened by rain—its clarity low and flickering intermittently. Nevertheless, one could still vaguely make out the content.
In the footage, the three mysterious men stood together, their figures appearing furtive in the hazy image.
A burly man frowned deeply, his muscular arms crossed over his chest as if contemplating a significant issue. He spoke in a deep voice, "How about we just give Hei Yu the money this afternoon? We can't afford to offend someone like him. As for what Nafiel Jenny requested, we've already completed half of it. If we leave now without taking any money, she probably won't pursue us."
As he spoke, his gaze swept around nervously.
The skinny man, resembling a bamboo pole, shook his head repeatedly; his slender neck swayed like a fragile reed in the wind. He retorted sharply, "No way, big brother! That woman won't let go of someone who stood her up so easily. Even if we forgo that money, she won't let us off lightly. Why don't we just fulfill her next request? After all, she's asked for three terrorist attacks; we've done two already. If we carry out one more and frame Mountain God for it, we can take our money and leave."
As he spoke, he gestured with his hands, his eyes flickering with a mix of greed and fear.
The man, resembling a vampire, slowly opened his blood-red eyes, which glowed like two small flames in the dim light of the scene.
He licked his lips and said ominously, "Brother, second brother, why don’t we let Hei Yu handle this third task? After all, he’s involved in this mission too; he can’t just sit back and do nothing. We’ve already taken care of the first two times, so leaving the last one to him wouldn’t be a problem."
As he spoke, he revealed two sharp tiger-like teeth, making him appear especially terrifying in the blurred image.
From the rough and flickering visuals, the three figures exuded a sneaky aura; every movement and glance radiated the scent of conspiracy, like hidden poison stingers lurking in the dark.
Though their words were audible, due to distance and other factors, only half of their message was understood.
One thing was certain: they would take action tonight, and it seemed that the location would be nearby.
Jiang Ming's gaze was resolute as he stepped forward to break the silence. "Why don’t we let me handle this today? I’m the most suitable for infiltration; they’ll find it hard to detect me."
As he spoke, he tightened his clothing; his posture was upright like a warrior preparing for battle, radiating an air of fearless courage.
Yan Qing listened to Jiang Ming's words, his brow furrowed in concern.
He knew well that Jiang Ming was indeed the best choice. His Psychic Ability level was the highest among them, shining like a brilliant star in the night sky. With his abilities, approaching those three without being noticed wouldn’t be difficult at all.
However, just thinking about Hei Yu’s previous appearance weighed heavily on his heart. Hei Yu’s identity was unclear; friend or foe remained undetermined. What if he showed up again? Would Jiang Ming fall into danger? Would he be easily exposed?
Yan Qing's heart was in turmoil, his hands instinctively clenching and relaxing.
After a difficult internal struggle, Yan Qing solemnly nodded, his gaze fixed intently on Jiang Ming, worry etched across his face. "Alright, just be careful this time."
As he spoke, he reached into his pocket and fumbled around before pulling out a star video communicator that he had just obtained from his superior.
This communicator was incredibly small, crafted like a delicate piece of art. It could send signals reliably and was designed to be comfortably worn on the ear, allowing for easy communication during missions.
Drui Feng watched as Jiang Ming put the communicator in his ear, and memories of the last operation flooded his mind—the sudden disconnection of the network had loomed over him like a shadow.
Furrowing his brow, he voiced his concerns. "What if something goes wrong again? By the way, why did the video cut off last time?" He scratched his head as he spoke, a hint of unease in his eyes.
Jiang Wenyu remained seated in front of the computer, her eyes glued to the screen as her fingers danced rapidly over the keyboard. Without looking up, she interjected, "Stop worrying about them. We just need to keep an eye on the surveillance and track those three. Even if you go, you won't be able to help."
Upon hearing Jiang Wenyu's words, Drui Feng shrugged helplessly and spread his hands in a gesture of resignation. "Fine then, I'll just sit here and do nothing."
With that, he plopped down in a chair and grabbed some snacks from beside him, stuffing them into his mouth. However, every now and then, his gaze would drift toward Jiang Ming and the others, revealing a lingering concern for their mission.
Uncertain about when the three would contact Hei Yu, Jiang Ming had been lying low in the factory since departing from the Military District Research Institute Base.
It wasn't until 7 PM, as night began to fall and the sky was painted with evening hues, that faint sounds emerged from a corner of the factory.
