Meanwhile, just below the endless coastline, Klick was furiously berating his subordinates. His face was twisted with anger, and his eyes seemed to burn with a fierce fire.
"What is wrong with you? I sent you to Z City to find one person, and you’ve caused such a huge mess! How did you end up at Pacific Base Island? Don’t you know they are conducting the A-Level Esper exams there? Now look at this—we’ve been discovered in our hiding place! Going out now is a death sentence. Tell me what to do! You bunch of idiots!"
The more Klick spoke, the angrier he became. He kicked his trembling subordinates, who stood before him with their heads bowed in fear, sending them flying one after another.
One of the subordinates, after being kicked away, struggled to get up while clutching his chest and said softly, "It’s not that we wanted this, Boss. That person is also participating in this A-Level exam. Didn’t the higher-ups give us only a month to bring him back? If we don’t bring him back, we’ll be dead too. We had no choice."
"What?" Klick frowned in surprise. "Why didn’t you report this sooner? I only found out when those people reached the coast! Now that we’re in this situation, are you waiting for me to die before you tell me it was your fault that I ended up like this?"
Several subordinates trembled as they knelt on the ground and replied, "We wouldn’t dare, Boss. Didn’t you say to catch that person as soon as possible?"
Klick turned helplessly away, hands on his hips, one hand pressed against his forehead as he closed his eyes and said, "Have you found any news about that person? What’s his name?"
A subordinate with green-dyed hair replied, "I think he’s called Yan Qing. He’s currently working at the Ability User Military District Experimental Base in Z City."
"Is that it? Why didn’t you bring him back? This is just a small matter; there can’t be that many S-level Ability Users around. You A-Level users can’t even catch one who’s supposed to take the A-Level exam?" Klick suddenly turned around and shouted angrily.
"It’s not that we don’t want to; it’s just that Yan Qing has someone terrifying beside him—someone above double S-level."
"Who is it? Tell me!" Klick grinned ominously.
"It’s... it’s Mountain God," the subordinate cautiously looked up at Klick and answered.
Upon hearing the name "Mountain God," Klick froze in place, his expression suddenly stiffening.
"How could it be him?"
The sea was calm, without a single ripple. Yan Qing's sudden remark left the three people beside him stunned.
Drui Feng scratched his head, looking confused. "Isn't Brother Yan being a bit dramatic? The sea is so calm; it doesn't look like there's anything unusual going on beneath the surface. Why would you say something is happening down there?"
Yan Qing lowered his head seriously, furrowing his brow as he stared at the water, focusing on a single point. "Something must be happening beneath the surface. It’s impossible for these people to be so quiet and not make any moves."
Jiang Ming also frowned and turned to Drui Feng, sensing that something was indeed off. "While a calm sea is generally a good sign, the complete lack of any disturbance on the surface is quite suspicious."
At this point, Drui Feng suddenly recalled something. "Right, this is the ocean! Why is there not even a hint of a ripple? It's as still as stagnant water!"
"Could it be..." In an instant, everyone shared a terrifying thought.
Ability Users were visibly different from humans, but what was most frightening was their Psychic Abilities; they could drain the life force of other creatures to enhance their powers.
Sure enough, just as they finished this thought, countless fish corpses suddenly surfaced in the water, along with numerous jellyfish.
Jiang Wenyu pursed his lips, anger and sorrow evident in his eyes. "These people are truly brutal. As beings of the Ocean System themselves, how could they harm these creatures? The ecological system of this coastline will surely suffer severe damage."
No sooner had he spoken than a figure suddenly emerged from the sea. The water around the lower half of the person rippled and rose slowly, gradually revealing them above the surface. The figure appeared somewhat blurry in the sunlight but emanated a mysterious and dangerous aura.
Seeing him alone, everyone in the air and the Ability Users on the water instantly became alert, readying their Ability Cannons and raising their weapons at Klick.
Klick noticed their reaction and awkwardly waved his hands. "Wait, wait! Everyone, listen to me! This was truly an accident! We had no intention of disrupting your exam; our buyer simply asked us to find someone. And that person is among you right now."
Klick's words came unexpectedly, yet some people were not interested in hearing too much of his explanation. They were only focused on taking his head as a trophy. Jing Chen smirked, his eyes filled with coldness and anger. "Klick, we meet again. I haven't settled the score with you for that terrorist attack you orchestrated in Washington."
Hearing the voice of an old acquaintance, Klick turned around and saluted him, a hint of mockery on his face. "I truly apologize, officer. I had no idea your sister was involved; she really met a gruesome end, didn't she?"
As soon as those words left his mouth, Jing Chen's expression changed dramatically, the fury in his eyes seeming ready to erupt. He suddenly activated his Energy Cannon, a dazzling beam of light aimed at Klick's upper body. With a deafening roar, a massive hole appeared in Klick's torso, clearly exposing the scene behind him.
Surprisingly, Klick did not show any signs of panic; instead, he provocatively raised both hands and wore a nonchalant expression. "What a pity; this isn't my real body, you fools."
Klick laughed maniacally, his laughter echoing across the sea, filled with arrogance and disdain.
"Watch out! It's his S-Class Ability: Phantom Doppelganger. This Psychic Ability allows him to create a doppelganger from his main body, temporarily possessing his Psychic Ability attributes and capabilities to confuse others. We've fallen for his trick."
An Ability User suddenly shouted from the air, his voice filled with frustration and caution.
As Klick's doppelganger began to fade into transparency on the surface of the sea, everyone exchanged worried glances. "What should we do? Has Klick already escaped?"
Just as Klick's doppelganger grew weaker and was about to vanish completely, he suddenly looked up at Jiang Ming's location and smiled at him with an eerie grin.
Beside him, Yan Qing couldn't decipher the meaning behind it and glanced back at Jiang Ming.
At that moment, he noticed that Jiang Ming's gaze was locked onto Klick's gradually disappearing figure.
