After three to four hours of intense combat, the continuous use of Psychic Ability left everyone utterly exhausted. The high-energy, high-consumption output was simply too much for most Ability Users to sustain.
Especially for those rated below B level, they had essentially retreated to the outer regions of the Deep Sea Sprite's territory.
In Yan Qing's team, aside from Yan Qing herself who had taken a Derived Potion, everyone else was already worn out. They sat on Jiang Ming's back, panting heavily, yet remained vigilant, observing the changes around them.
Hearing Yan Qing's labored breaths, Jiang Ming couldn't help but ask with concern, "Are you okay? Do you want me to take you to the outskirts to rest?"
Yan Qing shook her head firmly and replied, "No need. Just focus on dealing with them."
Time passed quickly, and more than half of the Deep Sea Sprite criminals had been eliminated. However, many of them still hid beneath the waves, unwilling to show themselves.
The situation fell into a stalemate. The remaining Deep Sea Sprite criminals were likely Ocean Elementalists; as long as they stayed submerged, they were difficult to target.
The atmosphere was tense. Only the personnel from Pacific Island remained on the surface, exchanging glances and keeping a close watch on the waters below.
At that moment, Yan Qing noticed Jing Chen and his group, whom she had encountered during the exam. It turned out that Jing Chen was a Flying Esper; his black wings were particularly conspicuous in the sky.
Yan Qing subtly furrowed her brows.
Jing Chen flew over to Yan Qing's side and said steadily, "We've nearly dealt with all the personnel on the sea. I've reported to Pacific Headquarters. I estimate that these Ocean Elementalists below won't hold out much longer; we just need to leave some people to keep watch."
Yan Qing nodded slightly, contemplating their next course of action.
She furrowed her brows again and asked aloud, "Have you noticed anything unusual?"
Jing Chen adjusted his Golden Wire Glasses, which glinted with a barely perceptible light. He quickly glanced at the undulating sea before turning his gaze back to Yan Qing. "What do you mean by that? The surrounding waters are surrounded by our people; anyone trying to escape will be struck down by lightning. I don't believe anyone can withstand a Thunderstorm formed by dozens of Thunder Elemental Users."
As he spoke, confidence radiated from his face. He smiled slightly at Yan Qing, as if everything was under his control.
Yan Qing furrowed his brows even higher, just about to speak when Jiang Ming interjected.
Jiang Ming was well aware of what Yan Qing wanted to say, as he had also considered the issue.
His tone was somewhat heavy, tinged with a hint of hostility as he replied to Jing Chen, "Do you know how many creatures exist beneath the sea? There are more species down there than on land. Some of those underwater beings inherently possess lightning attributes, and we have no idea about their ranks. Dozens of Thunder Elemental Users conjuring a Thunderstorm is indeed powerful, but what if among them, there are high-level Thunder Elemental Users, S-rank or above, who can withstand it and escape? If they possess such strength, wouldn't that make them high-ranking criminals of the Deep Sea Sprite?"
Jing Chen scoffed and turned his head away, the corner of his mouth curling slightly as he said, "What do you know? Do you think S-rank Ability Users are as common as cabbages? Or that they cost two dollars a pound at the market? There aren't that many S-rank Ability Users out there. Moreover, even if they managed to survive the Thunderstorm unleashed by dozens of Ability Users, they'd be weakened. After three or four hours of battle, their Psychic Abilities would be nearly depleted. Even if they got through, there are still operatives outside waiting for them with firearms."
Jing Chen's words were filled with conviction; he firmly believed his judgment was infallible.
Jiang Ming smiled, a hint of mockery in his expression. "You seem quite confident, Captain Jing Chen."
Without responding, Jing Chen simply turned and walked away. As he returned to his team, a Crocodile Esper floated on the surface of the sea, opening its jaws toward Jiang Ming's direction as if mocking him.
Jiang Ming and Yan Qing ignored their provocation. However, Drui Feng had just finished dealing with those around him and came over to join them, witnessing the scene.
"Wait a minute, brother Yan, what is their team doing here? Doesn’t each squad have its own designated area? It's been over half an hour now; why haven't those beneath the surface made any moves?" Drui Feng asked with a puzzled expression.
Hearing Drui Feng's words, Yan Qing's brow tightened. Suddenly changing his expression, he looked toward the sea and shouted loudly, "This is bad; there must be something wrong down there!"
Yan Qing's voice stood out sharply against the sea breeze, like a stone thrown into a calm lake, instantly shattering the tranquility of the waters.
