Time arrived as expected. On this day, the sunlight shimmered on the surface of the ocean, creating a sparkling spectacle.
The base on the Pacific Ocean sent personnel to pick up Yan Qing and his companions. Yan Qing and Jiang Ming sat in the middle of the helicopter, with Drui Feng's vibrant figure behind them and Jiang Wenyu's quiet presence beside her. In front of them, piloting the helicopter, was a young pilot from the Pacific Headquarters.
This time, the number of candidates for the A Level exam was vast, resembling a grand gathering of Ability Users. The young pilot in the co-pilot seat looked quite youthful, with a fresh face and innocent eyes, appearing even more naïve than Drui Feng.
At that moment, Drui Feng was lost in his own little world.
"Come on, speak up! You have to turn on either your microphone or signal for your ambush on the road! I'm not your mind reader; how would I know if you don't say anything? If we die halfway, who will you blame?" Drui Feng shouted into the communication device, looking as if he were ready to fight with the person on the other end.
Yan Qing silently shook his head, thinking helplessly: What should I do about this kid getting too into his games? We're still on a helicopter!
In stark contrast to Drui Feng, Jiang Wenyu gazed out at the vast mountains and waters beyond the window with a distant look in her eyes. She seemed immersed in her thoughts, leaning her head against the seat back, oblivious to the noise around her.
Jiang Ming observed everyone's different states and chuckled. He exchanged a glance with Yan Qing before speaking up. "Are we starting with individual matches or team matches for this exam?"
Yan Qing pursed his lips, pondering how to respond. Before he could speak, the young pilot in the co-pilot seat turned around and said, "It's team matches first; individual matches come later. You don’t need to worry too much."
Yan Qing frowned slightly and replied with concern, "How can I not worry? This is our first A Level exam; I’ve heard that others have participated several times before earning their A Level title."
The young pilot paused at Yan Qing's words before saying, "Don’t be overly anxious. It’s great if you can earn an A Level title, but..." He glanced at Drui Feng and Jiang Ming before continuing, "Given your team's age, even if you don't pass, no one will laugh at you."
"Is that so? Thank you for your reassurance," Yan Qing responded with a smile, though it still carried a hint of lingering worry. He fell silent afterward.
The young pilot observed him for a moment longer but chose not to say anything further.
After flying for six or seven hours through the sky, the continuous roar of the helicopter served as a backdrop to their journey. Finally, they flew directly over the landing area of the Pacific Ability Federation Base and began to descend slowly.
As they disembarked from the helicopter, Yan Qing gazed at the expansive airport below and felt momentarily dazed.
The weather here was clear with white clouds; the scenery was as picturesque as a painting. The buildings at the base were no more than five or six stories high and were coated with anti-surveillance paint that blended perfectly with the surrounding landscape, making them seem like part of nature itself.
In addition to Yan Qing and Jiang Ming, several helicopters also landed here. A diverse group of people descended from above, hailing from all corners of the country.
Ability Users and personnel from research military units across the nation had sent representatives to participate in this A-Class Selection. From their aura and demeanor, it was evident that their strength was not to be underestimated.
Yan Qing's attention was drawn to a towering man nearly two meters tall. As he jumped down from the helicopter, his clothes tore apart in an instant, transforming him into a lion that stood five or six meters tall.
The Lion strode past with an imposing presence, each step exuding a powerful sense of pressure. Following behind him were his equally arrogant companions.
A giant crocodile, measuring seven or eight meters long, appeared with bared teeth, its massive body and sharp fangs instilling fear. Behind the crocodile was a Plant Esper whose hands had transformed into vines that writhed as if alive on his arms.
Lastly, a man wearing golden wire glasses and dressed in a white shirt strolled down from the helicopter at a leisurely pace, unfazed by the scene.
Seeing this particularly eye-catching group, the surrounding people began to whisper among themselves.
"Look at those three Ability Users; they're so powerful," murmured a man in black tactical gear.
"Yeah, especially the one who transformed into a Lion. That explosive power seems really difficult to handle," agreed a short-haired woman beside him.
"And that Plant Esper! Those vines look quite sinister; they might ensnare you when you least expect it," chimed in a young man wearing a hat.
"Don't forget about the guy with the golden wire glasses. Jing Chen is well-known as a troublesome character. There was a formidable Ability User who fought him before, thinking it would be an easy win, but ended up being outmaneuvered and lost terribly," said an experienced older Ability User with a serious expression.
Jiang Ming naturally heard the discussions around them. Noticing Yan Qing's solemn expression, he quietly asked, "Yan Qing, what's wrong?"
Yan Qing sighed softly and replied, "It's nothing; I just feel like everyone here is quite strong."
Jiang Ming patted Yan Qing on the shoulder confidently and said, "Don't worry; we will win."
Yan Qing looked up at Jiang Ming's determined gaze. While her worries didn't completely dissipate, she managed to muster a faint smile without saying anything.
At that moment, a staff member in uniform approached, holding a loudspeaker and announcing, "Attention all participants of the A Level exam, please proceed to the designated assembly area for important instructions regarding the examination."
Upon hearing this, Yan Qing and his companions followed the crowd toward the assembly point.
Along the way, Yan Qing couldn't help but glance around, observing the powerful Ability Users from various regions, silently contemplating strategies to cope with the challenges ahead.
Jiang Ming seemed to sense Yan Qing's thoughts and leaned closer to whisper in his ear, "Although this is our first time participating, we have our own advantages. Our team has developed quite a few plans over the past few days; we’ll be fine. You need to believe in yourself and us."
Yan Qing nodded, took a deep breath, and looked at him intently. "You're right; we need to have faith in ourselves."
When they arrived at the assembly area, they found a considerable number of people already gathered.
A judge dressed in a black uniform with the Pacific Ability Federation insignia on his chest stood on a raised platform, his serious gaze sweeping over the crowd before he began explaining the rules and precautions for the exam.
Yan Qing and his friends listened intently, knowing that the real challenge was about to begin, and they had to give it their all.
The first round of the exam was a survival challenge in teams.
Each team would be transported to a perilous Alternate Space filled with not only various powerful beasts but also complex terrains and traps. Only those who survived within the allotted time and collected enough points would advance to the next round.
Yan Qing exchanged determined glances with his companions. This was going to be a tough battle, but they were ready to carve out their own path in this challenging A Level exam.
