“Are you back?”
Jiang Ming, holding a spatula, peeked out of the kitchen to glance at Yan Qing.
“Yeah, the business trip is over. I probably won’t be assigned any work for the next few weeks.”
Wearing an apron, Jiang Ming placed a pot of hot soup on the dining table. “That’s great! You can finally take a good break.”
Yan Qing shook his head. “Not necessarily. Our boss loves to make us work overtime. I’m still far from resting.”
As he spoke, Yan Qing picked up a pair of chopsticks nearby and effortlessly grabbed a piece of meat, popping it into his mouth and chewing with a satisfied sigh.
“This is really good! You’ve improved so much in just a few days.”
Jiang Ming smiled. “I had some free time, so I practiced a bit. These are the only dishes I can manage.”
“Oh, that’s not bad at all! Unlike me, who can’t cook at all and is still mooching off you.”
Jiang Ming replied, “With this little food, feel free to eat as much as you want. It’s not like it’s free; I can’t finish what I cook myself, and I need you here!”
“Is that so? Then I won’t hold back.”
Yan Qing’s pace quickened as he ate, while Jiang Ming sat beside him, watching him devour half a bowl of rice with a smile on his face, resting his chin on his hand.
