"Commander, can we really trust this guy? What if he drags us into a trap?"
In the desert, several incredibly swift Beasts kept pace with the giant bird. A few Beast Masters turned their attention to Lin Han. The last time they ventured deep into this wasteland, it was thanks to this light-footed commander that they managed to reach the military camp.
This time, their vanguard team's mission was primarily to gather intelligence on the enemy forces. If they couldn't obtain usable information, they would consider eliminating some Professionals to exchange for military resources.
In short, the significance of the intelligence far outweighed the killing of a few tactical units.
"Don't worry, this guy is currently a complete radar." Lin Han sat atop the Azure Light Phoenix, patting his companion Zhang Yan Shi beside him.
"Ah, the military camp is over there, Commander! We’ll be there soon!" Zhang Yan Shi's eyes were unfocused, and his mental state was extremely chaotic.
For the past few days, Lin Han had been doing one thing: using his Special Item to alter this guy's perception, completely convincing Zhang Yan Shi that he was his only direct superior. With his understanding changed, there was no way this guy would lie to his commander.
"As we approach the Border camp, I will give you the next order. Be prepared," Lin Han said while glancing in another direction where some unusual buildings were beginning to appear before him.
The Azure Light Phoenix let out a low cry, signaling to its master that they were nearing the military camp of the Shiva Empire.
Lin Han reached out and patted his Beast's neck before turning his gaze to Zhang Yan Shi, who was named Qika. He said in a deep voice, "Qika, I am assigning you a task now: as my superior, take me into the interior of the military camp!"
"I’m your superior? Commander, what are you planning?" Qika immediately asked. He found it hard to accept such an arrangement; in his eyes, his commander was quite capable.
"This is my tactical arrangement. Previously in the Great Yu Dynasty, we used this method to gather intelligence. Moreover, before I accepted the commission from Great Yu, I heard that someone had infiltrated our Shiva Empire. This time, besides reporting back, we need to find those individuals as well."
Lin Han spoke seriously; if he didn't need this guy as his mouthpiece, he wouldn't have bothered to create a double agent title for himself.
"Understood. So these companions will also accompany us to the Empire's Border?" Qika believed in his commander's explanation without doubt.
"No need. Our mission isn't complete yet; they are also part of my plan." Lin Han waved his hand dismissively. If everyone fell into the military camp of Shiva Empire together, what would happen then might not be entirely under his control.
The members of the vanguard team gathered around Lin Han and expressed their stance: "Commander, we will stay in contact at all times. If you cannot obtain the intelligence we need from those camps, make sure you get out safely. All of us here are highly capable solo combat units; eliminating these Professionals will be quite easy."
Lin Han merely nodded and arranged for Qika to lead them toward the military camp set up by Shiva Empire in the desert.
"What do you know about this military camp?" Lin Han looked at Zhang Yan Shi with curiosity in his eyes.
"The military camp you are currently at is one of the eight camps along the Empire's Border and is known for having the richest energy resources."
