The light in Lin Han's palm flickered as the Divine Mechanism Refinement transformed from its initial black serrated blade. The edges became blurred, and in the next moment, it began to concave inward, the dark patterns gradually dissipating into nothingness.
To his astonishment, Lin Han discovered that the Divine Mechanism Refinement was now floating in his palm—a beautifully crafted Mechanism Box, no larger than a fist. The box was adorned with metallic gleaming patterns.
"Captain, this treasure of yours is impressive! Have you considered selling it to me? I can assure you a fair price," Qian Yixuan said, stroking his chin. With his keen eye, he could tell that the serrated blade in Lin Han's hand was no ordinary item.
"I'm not selling it," Lin Han replied, closing his palm to store the Divine Mechanism Refinement into his spatial pocket.
Upon entering this isolated space, Lin Han felt an eerie silence enveloping him. Although the area was only a few meters wide, it gave off a chilling sense of emptiness.
There was no time to dwell on these thoughts; saving people was the priority.
Shaking his head, Lin Han slowly sat cross-legged on the ground. Outside, Qian Yixuan watched as Lin Han meditated, and suddenly his appearance twisted, transforming into an ordinary-looking man.
The man raised a Flute and began to play softly. A series of relaxing melodies filled the air, easing the pain etched on Lin Han's face within the barrier.
After some time had passed, Lin Han gradually opened his eyes from within the barrier.
"Has it worked? That was quicker than I expected," he mused.
Qian Yixuan, filled with uncertainty, tentatively asked, "Did you gain any special abilities?"
Instead of answering directly, Lin Han chose to demonstrate. His face quickly became wrinkled and gaunt; his eye sockets hollowed out until he transformed into Merlin the Mage.
"Have you acquired some special powers?" Qian Yixuan inquired.
Lin Han nodded gravely and replied, "Yes. The Outcast of Isolation: when acting alone, there’s a chance to trigger special missions; Elixir of Longevity: each time Merlin suffers lethal damage, it resets to the last safe checkpoint; Mastery of Sorcery: any witchcraft or spell-based abilities can stack."
"Is there really that much?" Qian Yixuan asked in disbelief before taking a closer look at Lin Han's attire and suddenly realizing something.
"Your profession must not belong to my Star Dragon Empire but rather another Western empire."
"I believe that's correct," Lin Han responded. "After all, there's no connection with Beast Master."
As Lin Han set up the barrier, the synthesized voice of the system suddenly rang out.
【Detected additional Side Quests. Do you accept?】
"I accept," Lin Han replied, but Qian Yixuan's expression was somewhat strange.
"What is your Side Quest?"
Without hesitation, Lin Han confirmed that Qian Yixuan was on his side and decided not to keep anything hidden. He loudly read out the task displayed on the System Panel below.
The main quest remained unchanged: save people, gather teammates, and find Han Fei. However, there was an additional directional task prompt.
"What is it?"
"Try to figure out the reason for the kingdom's banquet. During the Princess's Eighteenth Birthday Banquet, present your most precious treasure."
From the direction of the task, it seemed to be another puzzle to solve. "How long did it take you to break this cycle?" Qian Yixuan asked as he tucked his Flute into his waist.
"Once I confirmed it was a cycle, I just brute-forced my way through," Lin Han shrugged, feeling a bit helpless.
【Do you wish to enter the next scene? Yes or No?】
Lin Han and Qian Yixuan exchanged glances. "Every time we teleport, it’s closely related to the characters in the book. The next scene will be the banquet. At that time, I will appear as a Bard to present gifts and blessings to the princess."
As soon as Qian Yixuan finished speaking, a blinding white light enveloped them both.
