"Great Priestess, let us help you." Two male beastmen happened to come by to fetch water. Seeing her alone, they offered their assistance.
Yun Zhi Yue initially considered accepting their help, but the way the two from the Serpent Clan looked at her was anything but clean.
"No need," Yun Zhi Yue coldly refused. Indeed, no matter where one was, there would always be people who made one feel uncomfortable.
The two seemed oblivious to her disdain and directly reached for the basket and herbs in her hands. One of them grinned as they moved closer.
"Great Priestess, you've been around the Mo Family Brothers for so long. Have you ever seen any of their good kin?"
Yun Zhi Yue paused for a moment. It was true; aside from the clan leader, the two brothers seemed to have no connections with anyone else. They exchanged little more than a greeting, and she had thought that was just their nature.
Yun Zhi Yue pondered this while the snake man beside her added with a hint of amusement, "The Great Priestess may not know, but those two are considered abominations in the Serpent Clan—looked down upon by everyone."
"At first, Mo Li mistook you for an abandoned abominable beastman, which is why he took pity on you and brought you here. In reality, your status as a Great Priestess is far beyond what the Mo Family Brothers can aspire to."
In the beast tribe, being an abomination represented a curse—a sign of bad luck. Even if they possessed incredible combat talents, no one would dare approach them.
"We brothers just don't want the Great Priestess to be deceived. If you prefer brothers as partners, why not take a look at us?"
Yun Zhi Yue scoffed coldly, "The two of you together aren't even worth a single tail swipe from the Mo Family Brothers. What face do you have to recommend yourselves?"
"You talk behind their backs, yet it's clear you lack the courage to say anything in front of Mo Li or Mo Ran. Abominations are still stronger than you; I truly don't understand where your confidence comes from."
Their expressions darkened, and slit pupils appeared in their eyes—a sign of emotional turmoil.
"You really don't know what's good for you. Very well, once you've experienced being paired with us, you'll naturally have nothing but praise."
With that, a patterned yellow-brown serpent tail lunged toward Yun Zhi Yue, attempting to wrap around her body.
This made Yun Zhi Yue feel utterly disgusted; it turned out she wasn't afraid of snakes in general—she simply wasn't afraid of these two large black snakes.
Suppressing her nausea, Yun Zhi Yue controlled the plants to entangle the two snakes. She had no intention of confronting them head-on; instead, she planned to call for help from the Serpent Clan nearby.
Just as she took a few steps forward, her foot suddenly found nothing beneath her—an abyss opened up in the ground. What was happening?
Before she could think further, darkness engulfed her, and the opening above was sealed shut.
In the darkness, she felt something with hard scales carrying her swiftly away—more than one creature was involved.
Just as she attempted to struggle, her head collided with something hard—whether it was stone or compacted earth she couldn't tell—and in an instant, she felt dizzy as if her brain had turned to mush.
Heavens! Chuan Jiu, how did you lead me here? I hit my head!
"Uh, sorry, I didn't notice. It's not like she's a Forest Spirit; this little injury shouldn't be a problem. Let's hurry, Brother is still waiting for us to save him."
Chuan San sighed, "If it weren't for Brother being hurt by the Bear Tribe, we wouldn't have to risk offending the Serpent Clan by stealing their High Priestess. Now we've done it; we might not have peace afterward. The Mo Family Brothers are not to be trifled with."
"We can't worry about that now. Brother's life is the most important thing. If it comes down to it, we'll fight."
"Besides, with our speed, the chances of the Serpent Clan catching up to us are slim. Winter is coming soon; if they come out to chase us, they're basically throwing their lives away. They shouldn't be that foolish."
