Despite receiving a warning from the Reincarnation Stone before arriving, Yun Zhi Yue found herself overwhelmed by the sight of towering trees that rivaled buildings and bizarre, toothy plants. As a mere human at the bottom of the food chain, she felt an urge to retreat to the underworld.
"Damn it! If I had to be an animal, at least give me the identity of an ant! Why do I have to be human? Isn’t that just asking for trouble?"
Crouching beneath the roots of a giant tree, Yun Zhi Yue hugged herself, trembling. The surrounding vegetation was enormous, and as a tiny plant no bigger than a palm, she felt insignificant and inferior.
"Well, I can't help it. You should have a Puppet Body in this realm, but I don’t know how to create one. I can only temporarily mold something for you; just make do with it," she thought.
Her arms began to display a gradient of dark red patterns that flickered like soothing lights. She reached out to cover Zheng Ban, feeling slightly relieved: at least she had Yue Shi Di Di with her.
However, this was not a long-term solution. She stood up and looked around; everywhere she saw vibrant, towering plants stretching endlessly. It felt like she had entered a land of giants.
The beastmen living here mostly took on human forms except during hunting times. She needed to find a way to locate the tribe of her target. What kind of target would it be? Anything would do, as long as it wasn’t one of those creatures. She liked animals but had an aversion to anything long, wet, and slimy—she simply couldn’t handle it.
After taking a few steps, an inexplicable sense of pressure washed over her from behind—a feeling of being locked onto.
"What the hell!" The shout from the Reincarnation Stone sent Yun Zhi Yue’s heart plummeting.
Steeling herself, she turned to face a massive dark green eyeball the size of her face. A pure black giant snake had coiled around her without her noticing.
The snake’s body was easily several dozen meters long and thicker than a barrel. Its black scales glimmered sharply under the blazing sun; she struggled to find words to describe it.
The snake’s tail wrapped around her, sending chills down her spine. A scream erupted from her lips as she collapsed in despair: "It’s a snake! A snake!"
She was terrified of snakes!
There was no reason for it—just a primal fear of such creatures that were wet and slimy without legs. No way! She wanted to die.
"Calm down! This seems to be your target," she reminded herself.
"What? Target?" Yun Zhi Yue's thoughts became frantic. This didn’t make sense; why couldn’t she sense Qing Xue’s presence? This was the first time she felt so disconnected from familiar energy.
As if sensing her confusion, the Reincarnation Stone responded in bewilderment: "What’s going on? I can sense another target's soul energy elsewhere; who could that be?"
Yun Zhi Yue felt like thousands of llamas were flying over her head, spitting wildly. They couldn’t even confirm the target—it was utterly ridiculous.
But now wasn’t the time for such thoughts; the snake seemed to be shrinking. The tail that had nearly enveloped her entire body grew thinner until it transformed into a strikingly handsome man with dark green eyes and an exposed upper body.
The lines of her face were simply perfect, as if carved with precise measurements on paper. The jawline was striking, and Yun Zhi Yue stared blankly, momentarily forgetting the horror of his serpentine form.
In an instant, the man picked her up with one hand, burying his face in her chest and neck, inhaling deeply. "You haven't been marked," he murmured, "What is it about you that makes you so afraid of me?"
"Don't say you can't transform; you have no idea what fear is."
