How close was he? Her back was completely pressed against his chest.
The crowd looked on, with Hu Jin wearing a disdainful expression, as if he were observing some fallen delinquent.
Zhi Yue Fei Ying reached into the lottery box, and Yuhun Gu followed suit, making it seem as if he had completely enveloped her in his embrace. The inside of the lottery box was obscured from view; Yuhun Gu's large hand didn’t grab a number but instead squeezed her hand with reckless abandon.
Even though vampires don’t blush, she still felt a sense of shame. With so many people watching, was he openly taking advantage of her?
She broke free from his grip, grabbed a number, and walked away. She wasn’t going to fall for this ambiguous act. Now that she was a Pureblood, she no longer had to bow to him; their statuses were now equal. Why should she hold him up?
Alright, now that the playground was ready, they were to split into two groups based on odd and even numbers. Hu Jin took charge of the order and led a classroom full of students to the playground.
Though it was night, vampires had excellent vision in the dark. Hu Jin watched as a sea of blood-red eyes lit up, sending chills down his spine. He quickly turned on the lights installed at the edge of the playground.
Goodness, sometimes being around such a group of inhuman beings made him feel almost neurotic.
He admired Jing You, the only human among the many vampires; her little heart truly was strong. After all these years, it was the first time he had seen a human blend in so well with the Vampire Clan's second young lady.
The teams quickly lined up; two Purebloods ended up together while their respective Vampire Clan members were split into another group. Jing You was still grouped with Zhi Yue Fei Ying, which made for an interesting draw.
Once Hu Jin saw that everyone was in position, he took out a metal rod. After some banging and clanging, the rod extended quite long—after all, using ordinary ropes for vampire wrestling would be absurd.
“Alright, see this red line in the middle? The team that crosses over loses. It’s best two out of three. Now hold tight to your metal rods.”
Zhi Yue Fei Ying took her place last while everyone else got ready. Then Yuhun Gu leaned in close behind her again. He still didn’t say a word, but his presence was an obvious distraction.
Especially when Hu Jin whistled and everyone began to exert their strength; Yuhun Gu gripped the metal rod with one hand while wrapping his other arm around her waist.
He leaned close to her ear and whispered, “Put in some effort.”
Hearing those words, she couldn't help but imagine a certain scene. Two Purebloods on a team, and losing would not look good at all. It was better for Yuharu to focus and give it her all.
Yuhun Gu chuckled softly, his fingers firmly gripping her waist. "Do you need me to emphasize that?"
Zhi Yue Fei Ying knew without a doubt that he was teasing her. Did he really think she was like his previous plaything?
A cold smile crept onto her lips as she directly grasped Yuhun Gu's hand and twisted it. If he didn't let go, he could expect to hear the sound of bones cracking. Her strength was already enough to hurt him.
Yet, Yuhun Gu seemed oblivious to the impending injury. He simply tightened his grip on her hand, completely unconcerned about the possibility of breaking his own bones, enjoying the closeness with her.
Zhi Yue Fei Ying momentarily faltered in her grip as he playfully intertwined their fingers.
In the first round, they won the match!
Everyone looked at the two sticky Pureblood Lords with strange expressions. What were these two doing at the end of their team? They hadn’t exerted any effort at all. On the other side were Clan Vampires, while their own Purebloods weren’t putting in any work either; it was no surprise they lost.
This game was anything but intense. Zhi Yue Fei Ying's expression darkened as she realized that while she had been distracted by Yuhun Gu, she had completely forgotten to put in any effort.
