Abyssal Demon

It is the antithesis of all that is beautiful, the eternal enemy of paradise. 0

This place is suffused with a nauseating stench of decay, as if the last wails of rotting souls permeate the air, eroding the minds of any intruders. Only the demons that originate from here can survive. 0

The Demon Origin River flows through this realm, a birthplace for countless demons born daily, like stars scattered across the night sky. 0

He is one of the foundational logics of the Abyss, representing Abyssal Will, the cornerstone of its malevolence. 0

The blood-red river courses through the 391st layer of the Abyss, leaving behind pulsating eggs along its banks. These demon eggs are densely packed along the shores of the Demon Origin River. They resemble twisted footballs, shrouded in mist, their semi-transparent shells revealing faint outlines of their embryonic forms, as if they could burst open at any moment. 0

Suddenly, a consciousness awakens within one of the demon eggs. 0

"Kill, kill, kill, annihilate all living beings." 0

"Who... am I?" 0

Within this demon egg, two opposing wills seem to clash: one that is benevolent and bound by moral constraints, and another that embodies the innate evil of demons. 0

"I am Zhang Yu, a small fry from Earth..." 0

The benevolent will hails from Earth and carries with it 35 years of fragmented memories—enough consciousness fragments to temporarily gain an advantage in this battle for awareness. 0

"My first half of life was unremarkable; I spent my days either working overtime or staring blankly in my rented room. My life felt like a black-and-white silent film—tedious and miserable. 0

Now that I have crossed over to this place, it must be heaven giving me a second chance. I must make something of myself in this world..." 0

At that moment, the demon's consciousness, cornered until now, suddenly surged forth. A torrent of demonic ancestral memories erupted, overwhelming Zhang Yu's awareness. 0

The demon seized the opportunity to occupy this body’s consciousness: 0

After a long time. 0

The consciousness of the demon merged with that of Zhang Yu, forming a new awareness. 0

"I... am not Zhang Yu, I am Caesar Augustus Turistan... Gabriel!!!" 0

"I am a demon." 0

With this shout, Gabriel broke through the shell of the Demon Egg and emerged from within. 0

He became the first demon to hatch from this batch of Demon Eggs in the 391st layer of the Abyss. 0

Standing about 1.5 meters tall, his figure was hunched. His head resembled a blend of human and wolf, with deep-set eyes that glowed coldly with vertical pupils, sharp teeth interlocking, drool dripping from his maw. Two small horns sprouted from the top of his head, and his limbs stood upright yet bent, with three sharp claws on each hand. His body was covered in dark blue scales, and his short tail was lined with barbs, the tip resembling a dagger, occasionally whipping through the air. 0

He gazed at the vast Origin River, its powerful and surging energy igniting his desires. He roared towards the river: 0

"I, Gabriel, will climb step by step to the peak of this world in this life! I will not live an ordinary existence!" 0

As if responding to him, the Origin River roared back with a tremendous sound, sending a massive wave crashing onto the shore, leaving many Demon Eggs behind. 0

Gabriel looked at these Demon Eggs, a hunger rising within him as saliva continuously dripped from his mouth. The instincts of a demon took over his body. 0

"I want to devour them all!" 0

Gabriel did not resist this instinct; after all, most of his consciousness was dominated by the demon's essence. He understood that to grow stronger, he must use any means necessary. 0

After all, they were just fellow demons. 0

Such things were commonplace in the Abyss; demons dying at the hands of their own kind far outnumbered those killed by beings from other worlds. 0

If it weren't for this, the multiverse would have long been filled with demons. 0

Gabriel lunged toward the Demon Eggs, his hands grabbing one. The shell easily shattered under his sharp claws, and the egg liquid splattered out, releasing a strange, fishy odor. 0

He eagerly poured the liquid into his mouth, and in an instant, a surge of intense energy exploded within him. 0

As he continued to consume, his body began to undergo drastic changes. His originally frail limbs rapidly swelled, muscles bulging prominently. A layer of black sheen faintly appeared on the surface of his scales, resembling a tough armor. The short wings on his back grew at an astonishing rate, expanding several times in span, their membranes becoming more resilient and thick. The blood vessels on them stood out like dark red veins, and with a slight flutter, they stirred up a gust of wind. The horns on his head thickened as well, their spiral patterns deepening, with the tips shimmering with an eerie light. 0

Before he could fully grasp the sensation of his newfound strength, a mechanical voice echoed in his mind. 0

[Multiverse Upgrade System activated.] 0

A series of information appeared at the corner of Gabriel's vision. 0

Upon seeing the numbers displayed, Gabriel immediately understood that this was the reward for his crossing over: a cheat. 0

The elevated stats compared to a normal demon were due to his recent surge in power. His soul was exceptionally strong because it had merged with two others. 0

"This cheat is so powerful? I can grow stronger just by killing?" 0

"And I happen to be a demon; killing is as easy as breathing for me. Isn't this a match made in heaven?" 0

Even without his own killings, the number of demons who could walk out of the Origin River alive would be less than one percent. 0

Without any hesitation, Gabriel directed his claws toward his kin. 0

With a sharp crack, thick yolk splattered everywhere, and he eagerly swallowed it down. 0

Each mouthful sent a warm rush coursing through him, energy wildly accumulating. 0

Crack, crack, crack. 0

The vast banks of the Origin River were left with only the sound of the flowing water and Gabriel shattering eggshells. 0

In his mind, the upgrade points flickered like dancing flames, rapidly climbing to 10 points. 0

Of these, 7 points came from the souls of the demons, while 3 points came from their flesh and blood. This meant that souls were more valuable than flesh. 0

A smile crept across Gabriel's face; he was quite pleased with this harvest. 0

He closed his eyes and focused intently on distributing the 10 upgrade points according to his needs. In an instant, his muscles tightened and swelled, bones cracking as if being reshaped. His claws became sharper; with a casual swipe, blades of energy appeared. His scales grew harder, glinting coldly. 0

Gabriel opened his eyes, filled with madness and confidence, as he looked once more at the mountain of Demon Eggs before him. 0

He understood clearly that in this world of the survival of the fittest, becoming stronger meant constantly acquiring resources. 0

"The system allows me to evolve continuously, to always be a little stronger than other demons. Over time, that will lead to a qualitative leap. 0

And my earlier awakening compared to these demons means I can seize resources before them, monopolizing what the later arrivals could have!" 0

This was what set him apart from other demons and what would serve as his capital for becoming an even more powerful demon in the future! 0

With this thought in mind, Gabriel eagerly lunged toward the unhatched demons. 0

"Let you all become the nourishment on my path to evolution!" 0

Gabriel felt no guilt about this! 0

Demons, by their very nature, had no sense of kinship. Even after gaining intelligence, their thoughts revolved solely around how to eliminate other demons and rise to power. 0

There was nothing virtuous about them! 0

Demons were simply evil! 0
