"I asked you to follow me so that you could become my assassin. As for your beauty, you are not yet qualified to capture my heart," Jiang Chen said.
"Become your assassin?" Ding Yan was even more confused now.
"Of course. Your current strength is far from enough to be my assassin, but you are a suitable candidate. While your skills can be improved, experience as an assassin is hard to gain quickly. What I value is your experience in that regard," Jiang Chen smiled.
Ding Yan was even more perplexed. After all, she didn't know much about Jiang Chen, and his reaction was too unexpected. She had thought that he would focus on the matter of the incriminating information she mentioned, but instead, he seemed more interested in her.
"Are you asking me to help you kill someone? Have you killed before?" Ding Yan asked.
"Alright, you've talked for several hours now. Go back to your cabin and rest. We'll discuss this again when we arrive in Shanghai," Jiang Chen did not directly answer her question.
"But—"
"No buts. Go rest," Jiang Chen said again. Ding Yan felt a jolt in her heart and had no choice but to leave.
After Ding Yan left, Jiang Chen closed his eyes to rest, but Ding Yan was restless in her cabin. However, there was no escaping on the plane.
"Who exactly is that person?" Ding Yan thought to herself, but she couldn't come up with any answers. The more she thought about it, the more anxious she became. It felt as if Jiang Chen had her firmly in his grasp. Once they reached Huaxia, even if she tried to run, she would surely be caught.
Ding Yan felt lost about the future. She wasn't afraid of dying; she was afraid that she might die before finding her mother.
If Jiang Chen could really help her find her mother, she would be willing to do anything for him. But she feared that he might just be humoring her; after all, she knew how difficult it would be to locate her mother.
The journey passed in silence. Due to the time difference, they arrived in Shanghai at six in the evening.
Jiang Chen did not notify Lin Yin to prepare dinner right away. After disembarking from the plane, he took Ding Yan to a restaurant to eat.
During his three months abroad, Jiang Chen had gained a lot. On this trip back, he had also acquired an assassin—Ding Yan—who could be trained well and save him a lot of trouble in the future. He wouldn't have to deal with some petty nuisances himself anymore.
Perhaps due to her profession as an assassin, Ding Yan sat down in the restaurant and kept scanning her surroundings nervously.
"This is Huaxia now; those chasing you won't arrive so quickly. Even if they do come, this is Huaxia where outsiders cannot act recklessly. Just relax and enjoy your meal," Jiang Chen reassured her.
"They won't let me go easily. Being with you won't lead to a good outcome for you either. Even if you have some power in Huaxia, don't underestimate our Black Sky Assassins Organization or the strength of those involved in oil smuggling," Ding Yan warned.
"I don't know how strong they are, but no matter how strong they are, they are insignificant in my eyes. You don't need to be surprised; you'll understand soon enough. In a couple of days, I plan to go to Hong Kong Island. Come with me; we can also go to Aodao and help you find your mother," Jiang Chen said.
Ding Yan looked at Jiang Chen, unsure of what to say. His words seemed overly arrogant from her perspective; honestly speaking, even the national departments of Huaxia probably wouldn't dare make such claims.
But since Jiang Chen spoke so confidently, Ding Yan naturally didn't want to undermine him and remained silent, secretly feeling skeptical about his bold assertions.
