"Hongmen owes me some money and hasn't paid it back. Since I'm here in the United States, I have to go collect it," Jiang Chen said with a smile.
Jon Delson looked somewhat surprised, but he couldn't quite grasp the relationship between Jiang Chen and Hongmen, so he refrained from speaking freely.
"Do you know where Hongmen is located?" Jiang Chen asked.
"Uh, the headquarters of Hongmen is in Honolulu, but they also have a branch in Angel City," Jon Delson quickly replied.
"Tomorrow, come with me to meet someone from Hongmen," Jiang Chen said.
"Sure. By the way, Master, my granddaughter has a friend who is a disciple of Li Yunye, one of the founding elders of Hongmen. Li Yunye is currently in Angel City; shall we go find him tomorrow?" Jon Delson suggested.
"That sounds excellent."
That night, Jiang Chen had dinner at Jon Delson's house. After dinner, he returned to his room to rest while Jon Delson pulled his granddaughter Alice aside to ask her to invite White over tomorrow.
Alice had been holding back all day. She had been observing Jiang Chen for several hours, but he hadn't displayed any extraordinary abilities, which left her feeling quite frustrated. She couldn't shake the feeling that her grandfather was being deceived; Jiang Chen seemed more like a pretentious fraud than a true expert.
At that moment, Alice unconsciously began comparing Jiang Chen to White and felt that White excelled in every aspect. This only reinforced her belief that her choice was correct.
"Grandpa, the Huaxia expert—he doesn't seem like an expert at all," Alice couldn't help but say.
"There’s an old saying in Huaxia: 'A true master does not reveal their skills.' The master's abilities are beyond your imagination. Remember, do not disrespect him," Jon Delson warned sternly.
"Even if he does have some skills, Grandpa, he's just not my type. He's about my height—around one seventy-five—and his looks are quite ordinary. Although I'm not superficial about appearances, I think his physique and looks just don't cut it. I believe White is far superior; at least he has better looks and build," Alice replied candidly. To be honest, she had entertained some fantasies about this Huaxia expert when she first saw how serious her grandfather was, but seeing Jiang Chen's true appearance shattered those illusions.
"That's quite shallow of you. Let's drop this topic. Remember to have White come see me tomorrow morning," Jon Delson reiterated. He was somewhat deluded; Jiang Chen showed no interest in his granddaughter whatsoever—not even a glance—so Jon Delson decided against using her charm to win favor with Jiang Chen.
"Grandpa, this isn't shallow; I genuinely don't think much of him. Even if he is an expert, I stand by my principles," Alice insisted stubbornly.
"And besides, Grandpa, you weren't deceived by him? I heard that Huaxia has a kind of illusion technique that can bewitch people's minds," Alice added.
"Nonsense! I don't want to hear you say such things again," Jon Delson shot her a glare.
Feeling quite downcast that night, Alice eventually took out her phone and called White to invite him out for drinks at a bar.
As for White, Alice couldn't say she liked him very much at this point. However, due to events from three months ago, the Robert Family had ultimately agreed to give her six months to get to know White better. After six months, regardless of how things turned out, she would have to get engaged to him.
