"Kid, do you think this is the end?" The man in black rose from the ruins, his silver mask shattered, revealing a grotesque face that looked like an Evil Spirit crawling out of hell. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his eyes fierce and predatory, as if he were ready to devour someone. "That last strike caught me off guard. However, your strength has reached its limit, hasn't it?"
Chu Sheng struggled to prop himself up, a sharp pain coursing through his chest as if it were being torn apart. That last blow had severely injured his opponent but had also nearly drained him of all his energy. He felt weak, as if he might faint at any moment. The Merit Book vibrated violently: [Warning! Warning! The host's energy is about to be depleted; immediate retreat is advised!]
"Thinking of running? No way!" The man in black sneered, his figure flickering like lightning as he instantly appeared before Chu Sheng. A terrifying sense of oppression descended upon him, like a mountain pressing down on Chu Sheng, making it hard for him to breathe. "I told you, you must die today!"
Chu Sheng barely managed to evade the man's strike but was still sent flying by the shockwave, crashing heavily against the wall. He felt as if all his bones were about to shatter, blood continuously pouring from his mouth, the metallic taste filling his senses.
"Chu Sheng!" Lin Yue exclaimed in shock, wanting to rush over to help but was effortlessly struck away by the man in black, falling to the ground like a broken kite.
"You foolish girl, stay put!" The man in black scoffed coldly, his gaze icy. "Once I deal with this kid, I'll take care of you!"
Seeing Lin Yue lying on the ground ignited a fire of rage within Chu Sheng. He forced himself to stand up, wiping the blood from his lips with determination in his eyes. "If you have the guts, come at me!"
"Hahaha!" The man in black laughed wildly, his voice dripping with disdain and mockery. "You think you can challenge me in your current half-dead state? How laughable! You ants dare oppose a god? It's simply ridiculous!"
Chu Sheng remained silent, glaring fiercely at his opponent, hatred burning in his gaze. Suddenly, images from that fateful night flashed through his mind: the devastation of his family by Annihilation, the sight of his parents lying in pools of blood, and those aloof gods coldly watching it all unfold…
Anger—an unprecedented fury—ignited within him like a volcanic eruption, uncontrollable and fierce.
"You are right; we are indeed ants," Chu Sheng spoke slowly, his voice hoarse and cold like whispers from hell. "But even ants have the right to resist!"
At that moment, an intense tremor surged through Chu Sheng's body as a strange and powerful force began to stir within him. It flowed like a raging river—vast and unstoppable. This power was searing and violent, threatening to burst through his veins.
The Merit Book: **Frenzied Tremor**: [Detected that the host's bloodline awakening conditions have been met! Would you like to awaken immediately?]
"Awaken!" Chu Sheng roared in his heart, without a hint of hesitation.
In an instant, the world changed color. The winds surged, clouds swirled, and thunder cracked.
A dazzling golden light erupted from Chu Sheng's body, soaring into the sky like a sharp sword piercing through the clouds. His body floated in mid-air as the surrounding air began to distort, forming a massive energy vortex that resembled a gigantic black hole, devouring everything around it.
The man in black changed his expression drastically, his eyes filled with shock and fear. "This is... bloodline awakening? Impossible! How could you awaken your bloodline power at this level?"
Chu Sheng did not respond; he felt his body undergoing earth-shattering changes. Every cell within him was rejoicing, every drop of blood was boiling and burning, as if it were about to be consumed in flames or reborn through fire.
The voice of the Merit Book echoed in his mind: [Bloodline awakening progress: 10%... 30%... 50%...]
The man in black dared not delay; he knew that if Chu Sheng completed his bloodline awakening, the consequences would be unimaginable. He immediately struck out, condensing a sphere of black energy in his hand, resembling a black cannonball, and hurled it towards Chu Sheng.
However, before that sphere of black energy could approach Chu Sheng, it was instantly evaporated by the golden light, disappearing without a trace.
[Bloodline awakening progress: 80%... 90%... 100%!]
"Boom!"
With a deafening sound, the golden light erupted once more, illuminating the entire night sky. Chu Sheng slowly opened his eyes, his pupils shimmering with golden light, like two burning suns—radiant and dazzling. He could feel that his power had received a tremendous boost, as if he possessed the strength to annihilate the heavens and earth.
"Is this... the power of bloodline?" Chu Sheng looked down at his hands, feeling the surging strength within him, his heart filled with shock.
The man in black had a grim expression, his eyes filled with wariness. "So what if you've awakened? You're still just a Fourth Rank!" He struck again, the pressure of a Fifth Rank expert sweeping over like a tidal wave, enveloping the entire space.
Chu Sheng raised his hand and effortlessly blocked the attack. The man's face changed dramatically, disbelief flooding his eyes. "How is this possible?"
"Now, it's my turn," Chu Sheng's voice was calm yet carried an undeniable authority, like a king surveying his subjects. His figure flickered, moving so fast it was almost imperceptible, like a bolt of lightning slicing through the night sky.
As the man in black prepared to defend himself, a sharp pain pierced through his chest. He looked down to see a bloody hole gaping in front of him, blood gushing out.
"This... this can't be..." The man in black stared at Chu Sheng in disbelief, despair filling his gaze. "How could you be... so strong..."
Chu Sheng stood behind him, blood still dripping from his hand. "Because I'm not playing games with you."
The man's body slowly collapsed, vitality rapidly draining away. In his final moments, he seemed to want to say something but ultimately only let out a reluctant sigh.
Chu Sheng turned to look at Lin Yue, about to speak when he suddenly felt dizzy. The backlash from the bloodline awakening hit him unexpectedly; his consciousness began to blur and darkness enveloped his vision.
Just as he was about to fall, a familiar voice called out, "Watch out!"
A shadow suddenly darted from the darkness, aiming straight for Chu Sheng's back!
