Prologue
Legend has it that matchmaker has eighteen maidservants who stay on Earth year-round to help couples find their connections.
These eighteen maidens are all as beautiful as flowers and gentle as water.
However—this is merely a legend.
"What? Say that again!" Yao Guang finally tore her gaze away from the computer screen, glaring fiercely at matchmaker, who shrank against the wall like a frightened rice ball.
"Um... um..." matchmaker fumbled with his fingers, counting nervously, "... the Heart Knot is missing."
At this revelation, Yao Guang nearly smashed her keyboard to pieces.
Who says immortals have no troubles? The greatest trouble for an immortal is living too long!
Her old man ( matchmaker ) had developed dementia, constantly forgetting things and making mistakes big and small. Not only did this leave the maidservants in a perpetual state of anxiety, but they also had to exhaust themselves coming down to Earth to clean up his messes.
Putting aside everything else, just considering that she had been cooped up for ten years, spending every day in front of the computer correcting those misguided connections made by matchmaker and dealing with people seeking thrills online, one could see how difficult their lives had become.
The legend is beautiful, but reality is stark.
Before they could even rectify past mistakes, the old man had created an even bigger mess by losing the Heart Knot, a gift from the Jade Emperor that could bring people good fortune in love.
Was he trying to make it impossible for the eighteen maidens to survive?
No, absolutely not!
Yao Guang gritted her teeth and shouted, "Hurry up! Take me to where the Heart Knot was lost! Wait, I need to bring my iPad and download some games."
As Yao Guang fell from the sky, a large table of people was deeply engrossed in a game of Mahjong.
Among them, Second Young Master Yan had lost all day long, his pockets emptied. He was desperately hoping that the nearly completed hand of all one suit would help him recover some of his losses. Just then, Yao Guang crashed down with a loud thud, not only smashing a large hole in the roof but also shattering the Mahjong table to pieces.
There was nothing to be done; ever since her Old Man had fallen victim to dementia, his magical powers had waned significantly. The fact that he could send her here was already quite remarkable. So, she only had time to raise her precious iPad high above her head before hitting the ground, ensuring it wouldn’t be damaged while she landed painfully on her backside, as if blooming into a flower.
Through tear-filled eyes, Yao Guang saw Second Young Master Yan glaring at her with a murderous look.
In a moment of inspiration, she shouted, “I am a celestial being descended to earth; you should all kneel and worship me!”
The room fell silent instantly, and after a brief pause, Second Young Master Yan suddenly grabbed a large knife and approached menacingly while shouting, “People fall from the sky every day; doesn’t that mean this place will be filled with celestial beings?”
... Was the phenomenon of time travelers so rampant? She thought it was only something that happened in novels.
She quickly forced a smile and pleaded, “Wait, wait, big brother! I was wrong; I shouldn’t have—”
Before she could finish her sentence, the knife came down.
In terror, she shrank back instinctively, raising the iPad above her head as a shield.
She thought to herself that while the iPad was precious, life was worth more! In truth, her heart was bleeding.
Just at that critical moment, a man sitting nearby in a chair, who had been watching for who knows how long, calmly said, “She is mine.”
The knife came to an abrupt halt.
"Oh, beautiful one! Oh, benefactor!"
Yao Guang was almost moved to tears.
The man slowly stood up, cradling his teacup, and walked towards her step by step.
In the room, the only sound was the gentle rustle of his robes trailing on the floor.
As he approached, he lightly patted Second Young Master Yan's shoulder, and she instantly quieted down like a tamed little beast.
Then, he turned to Yao Guang and smiled gently.
At that moment, pink bubbles of joy surged up in Yao Guang's heart.
She admired his elegant widow's peak, his slightly upturned eyes that sparkled with brilliance, and the relaxed demeanor he exuded as he walked.
With such a stunning figure coming to her rescue, was it not time for them to embark on a grand romantic adventure together?
Unfortunately, he leisurely remarked, "I happen to be in need of a maid."
With that, he placed the teacup steadily on her iPad.
