Since the arrival of my little brother, Dragon Mother has not stepped out of the house. dragon father goes to distant celestial mountains every day to gather herbs that are beneficial for Mother and my brother's cultivation. 0

From that day on, I found myself unable to sleep at night due to an incessant itch. I took my bedding outside to air it out repeatedly, but nothing seemed to help. However, the "treasures" on my hands began to multiply. Some were large, some small; some were round, others oval; their colors varied, yet all were beautiful. I wished for them to cover my entire body so that I could sleep soundly like before. 0

Slowly, my wish came true. The treasures crawled from my hands to my arms and then spread all over my body. Finally, I could enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. I longed to share my secret with someone; I felt as if I was about to transform into a dragon ahead of time. Then both dragon father and Dragon Mother would surely like me. 0

But dragon father was busy with Dragon Mother and my little brother, leaving no time to listen to me. Mother was also preoccupied with taking care of my younger brother and lacked the patience to hear me out. 0

I remembered the snake in Snake Mother Cliff that could understand me. The next day, after Mother fell asleep, I quietly slipped away to Snake Mother Cliff. When the great snake saw me, it quickly flicked its tongue in greeting. I extended my arm for it to see. It seemed very happy and wanted to crawl over, but it was bound by iron chains and couldn't move. This was the first time I had seen it so excited. 0

I reached out my hand, and it nudged my arm with its nose. To my surprise, it was warm. dragon father had said that snakes are cold-blooded creatures, icy to the touch, so why was this one warm? 0

I cautiously placed my hand on its body. Yes, it was definitely warm. Feeling a bit braver, I ran my fingers along its scales. It didn’t seem angry; instead, it coiled around my arm. So warm, like a little blanket in winter. 0

I couldn’t help but reach out with my other hand to touch it as well. It remained calm, not showing any signs of irritation. Could it be that I was truly its child? The treasure in my hand resembled the scales on its body. 0

It was willing to be close to me, to listen to me, and even let me touch it. Most importantly, it was warm, like a big comforter. I decided that it was my "mother." 0

Of course, I also realized that I might not be transforming into a dragon but rather into a snake. The scales on my body had already grown up to my ankles, forcing me to wear a cotton coat. Fortunately, as the weather turned cold, dragon father and Dragon Mother were busy taking care of my younger brother and didn’t notice my change of clothes. 0

I felt both relieved and anxious. I worried that if something happened to my brother, dragon father and Dragon Mother would be sad, and I would be sad too. 0

That night, I was awakened by the sound of my brother crying. I rushed outside dragon father and Dragon Mother’s room. Through the window, I saw two shadows: one was dragon father standing anxiously, while the other was Dragon Mother half-sitting on the bed, cradling my brother in her arms. 0

"What happened?" dragon father asked urgently. 0

"I don't know, I just started crying suddenly. Husband, please go find some elixirs to save our son," the Dragon Mother said anxiously. 0

"Alright, I'll go right away," Father promised before leaving. 0

I didn't know what was happening, but my legs moved uncontrollably toward the room. 0

"Dragon Mother, can you let me see my brother?" I asked, wanting the Dragon Mother to show me my brother. I really liked him and cared about him deeply. 0

"Get lost! You little harbinger of doom!" 0

Suddenly, Mother drew a Jade Pillow and hurled it at me with all her might. 0

The Jade Pillow struck my head and fell to the ground, shattering into pieces. 0

I felt something warm trickling down my head, but I couldn't see what it was. 0

"Dragon Mother, what's wrong with you?" I shouted defiantly at the Dragon Mother. 0

"Get lost! I'm not your Dragon Mother! You're born of the Snake Mother; you're a serpent girl! Get out!" 0

The Dragon Mother grew angrier and turned away from me, cradling my brother in her arms with concern. 0

My brother cried loudly, and I was very worried about him. 0

But the Dragon Mother wouldn't let me see him. 0

Feeling utterly wronged, I turned and ran out of the room. 0

I dashed to the Snake Mother's dwelling at Snake Mother Cliff. 0

"Are you my mother?" I asked the great serpent. 0

The serpent flicked its tongue but remained silent. 0

"Don't you want to be my Dragon Mother?" I asked again. 0

The serpent still flicked its tongue without responding. 0

"Then will you be my Dragon Mother?" I asked once more. 0

This time, the serpent did not flick its tongue; it lowered its head and lay down on the ground. 0
